Do you mind sharing the links you found this at? I saw in the temple videos they emphasize primary care big time, but I would love to see if they are big in research.

I think they are pretty big into primary care, but it looks like they still provide research opportunites for medical students. The school itself is still huge on research. Like they have a separate page boasting about their research scientists meant to recruit more PHDs and MD/PhDs.

^ Yes, but unfortunately they don't go into too much detail on actual opportunities / what can be expected. Personally, if I were traditional / wanted to spend more time pre-professional, I would want to go MD/PhD, AKA I want to do a lot of research. Their website doesn't portray the level allowed / expected.
I'm kind of going off the fact that they have a very well established research foundation and the fact that their secondary says the following:

Maybe you guys can answer a question for me?
So for these clinical clerkship sites... is the Temple one the only one where they immerse you in patient care day 1? Or do the Luke campus and the Geisinger campus do that as well?
Thats what these videos are making it seem like. The main temple hospital video stresses this one point whereas the other ones do not talk about immersing students in clinical care day 1 at all.
Or am I totally off here?

I'm pretty sure that all first years are at the campus in Philly. Then St. Luke's students spend 2, 3, & 4 in Bethlehem and Geisinger students spend 3 & 4 in Danville.
Ah I see. So everyone gets patient interaction day 1? That would make sense. Because otherwise there would be a clear advantage to going to main campus.
If anything I'd imagine you get greater hands-on experience at the Geisinger and St. Luke's campuses-- it seems like there's a more direct attending-to-medical student relationship. At the main campus you probably have a lot more fellows etc. ahead of you in line to do procedures.
Their admissions catalog states their research strengths are in cardiovascular disease, neuroscience, pharmacokinetics, obesity, drug abuse, lung disease, and cancer cell biology.
Would it be unprofessional to include in why I want to remain at the Main campus that I love philly and all fitness, sports and entertainmnet opportunities there? I obviously have more sincere reasons as well, but the city just looks like a great place to live.
I don't think so, maybe include those more sincere reasons too, though. I talked about the special pride that people from Philly have about the city (I'm from the area) and segwayed that into my interest in public health which is only available at the Philly campus.
ok thanks! yeah they have a program that is super similar to a program i did as an undergrad and I realllllyyy want to do it my first and second year!

Does anyone know when they start offering interviews?
Hi all! Current M1 at Temple here, willing to answer whatever questions you might have about the school or the app process…my class is just settling in now (orientation last week and block 1 started today) and getting familiar with the campus/area, so there may be questions I can't answer at this point, but I'll do my best!
I believe that last year interview invitations began going out in early September, with interviews beginning later that month.
Looks like last year it was around 8/16!

From what we were told at orientation, there's an average of 210 students in each class (204 in ours). This year, we were told it breaks down to 30 St. Luke's, 15 Geisinger, and the rest main campus. Students at main campus do have the opportunity to do rotations at any of the affiliate sites (including Geisinger and St. Luke's), and in fact if you are at main campus, you are essentially guaranteed to do at least some of your rotations at affiliate sites.
I wish I had more info to answer this question - unfortunately, I've only been here about a week and a half, and we were encouraged to not focus on research/extracurriculars until after block 1 ends. We do have an activities fair next week to see all the student organizations and other opportunities to get involved, so I will report back if I get any more info on research programs. The M2s I spoke with during orientation all indicated that once you're ready to get started, it is very easy to get involved, though - they just haven't given us a lot of info yet.

Status change from Verified to Under review!!! Did anyone else get this?
It was eliminated, although I understand that Allegheny (the Pittsburgh hospital) remains an affiliate and as such is an option for individual rotations.

Called Admissions Education and they stated that it is, but were very general about if there were any differences between campuses. @LaceyMD could you possibly clear up any differences?

Erm...my status says "Verified" and then when I click for an explanation of that status it says "Your application is under review with our office". Is that what yours says?
In the top line, before you click for the status explanation, it says Under Review.

Glitchiest secondary yet. Anyone else see an awkwardly large space between paragraphs when the essays are displayed in the "View All" or print views?? I've double-checked, and I didn't put any extra enters/returns in!
Did you copy and past from Word on a Mac?
Had no problems - but I always copy into Notepad first
ICS? Do you mean the sim center? If so, yes, you'll have access to the center regardless of which campus you are assigned to. I know St. Luke's also has their own center on-site for their students; not sure about Geisinger.

yea, I was wondering that also. I live in Pittsburgh so... it be nice to come home my last 2 yrs of med school
