2015-2016 University of Chicago (Pritzker) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oh birth certificate.... Ugh it's going to take months to obtain that (different country). Thanks for mentioning it so I'll have it ready just in case I get in.
Not necessarily a birth certificate; it could be a passport or green card. Basically, something to verify your citizenship 🙂

Yeah, a foreign birth certificate wouldn't go too far in verifying US citizenship status

It just needs to be proof of citizenship. I believe they cited passport and green card as other possible options.

Edit: oops I was too late haha.

Just when I gave up....II today, complete 8/24. So excited to go to Chicago!
Hey!! omg!! I was complete that same day! you gave me hope/fright/elation(for you)/jealousy(human nature)/mini-stroke all at once!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHH what are your stats if you don't mind... before I pass out?! what were the interview dates open?? OMG that is so fantastic for you! I know exactly how you must be feeling right now and I am so happy for you! 🙂

There were only three dates open when I checked, Nov. 23, 24, and 30. Definitely keep up hope! I was not expecting to hear from them at all at this point, Chicagoland was giving me complete silence until today! LizzyM ~82

Holy crap do you have like a 4.0 and a 42 on the MCAT?! MY GOODNESS! lol competing with that --->not a chance haha. mad props to you. seriously I hope you get accepted to your top choice because you deserve it, hands down.

The schedule has four hours of interviews...should I be scared? Or are they pretty relaxed and conversational?

Anyone have any idea how big the MD/PhD program at Pritzker is? How many students do they typically interview/accept for the MSTP?

There are 8 MSTP spots in the class of 88. Not sure what the other numbers are.

Does anybody know about what % of the acceptances have been given at this point?

Rejected after being placed on hold 🙁

Logged in today on a whim to find out I've been put on hold for later review. So after 14+ weeks of silence, I get to hang in there for more silence, yay.

Do we email updates directly to them through the admissions email?

Mind posting a screenshot of what the hold designation looks like?

I'm assuming it happened recently since the "HOLD" icon is still grey.

I think the "HOLD" icon is for holding the application until MCAT scores are received

Yeah, I also remember it was used for non-review related reasons. In any case, it definitely occurred sometime within the last week. There's no accompanying email. Sent in my updates as well since I think I recall that the re-review takes place in December.

Here's to really hoping that the fact that it took over 14 weeks just to put me on hold means that they're agonizing over wanting to give me an interview...haha

So what does it mean if my status still says "Application complete"? I submitted everything by late August...and I've had only silence. So am I on hold even though my status doesn't say so?

does anyone else have a hold box that is gray but it still says under review?

i would think that the hold box would somehow "light up" lol or change colors if you were to be put on hold...

Wait wait, is it supposed to say "under review" for status?

Mine says "Application Process Complete - thank you for your interest in Pritzker."

Haven't gotten any communications otherwise so I have been operating under the assumption that this is the 'under review' status and not *gulp* rejected. Can anyone confirm?

That's what mine said once I was marked complete! I think you're fine

Edit: I take this back. I'm pretty sure I was wrong about this. Sorry!!!

I sure hope I'm wrong, but I'm pretty certain that's what my portal read 2 years ago when I was rejected. I think the status should be something along the lines of "Application Complete and Under Review" or something like that...

Mine says "Application Complete: Your completed application has been sent to the Committee on Admissions for review. We look forward to learning about you and your accomplishments."

Oh yeah!! I must've remembered wrong then. Sorry for confusing anyone!

This may be a really specific question, but are there any people who can shed light on the likelihood of being accepted at the Dec 15 date if you are "continued" at Oct 15? It's obviously hard to discern because there are only two outcomes for the Oct 15 folks anyway: either accepted or continued.

Didn't know if any current students may be able to shed light on this?

I got an email earlier this morning with the subject "Application Process Complete". The first line says "The Committee on Admissions has completed its review of your application and has unfortunately decided not to pursue your candidacy further." I logged onto my portal and my application status says "Application Process Complete -
Thank you for your interest in Pritzker." If you didn't get the email, perhaps call the office just to make sure?

Does Pritzker give out its merit scholarships on a rolling, first-come-first-served basis? i.e. is it better to be accepted early in the cycle (monetarily) than it is to be accepted later in the cycle?

I would call if I were you. Inconsistencies between the portal and an email may be a mistake (nothing to lose!). when were you complete? stats? if you care to share... pre-interview right?

I second this! Although to be technical, it's the December 21 date 😉
