II! OOS 🙂
CORE

Congrats, that's so exciting!! I hope to hear back from USF Morsani soon, I really love the idea of their CORE program and I'm also OOS. Did they offer you different dates to choose from?

If anyone happens to know, do they only charge you out of state tuition for select the last two years?

I've heard there is no "IS" tuition for SELECT no matter where you're from (and everyone pays OOS), but I could be wrong.

This is true. SELECT is not state funded so there is not a state subsidy for tuition. It is the same rate (OOS) for all 4 years regardless of residency status. I have been told some Florida residents can get additional consideration for scholarships to match the CORE tuition. Some, not all.

Okay that makes sense on why then. I really appreciate the input thank you.

Are you sure you didn't mean to apply to Select? The Core program doesn't really have any unique "idea." I think it's just a typical public university med school. Select is the program that seems more unique and forward-thinking.

II, OOS, SELECT!

I originally had the choice between 8/12 and 8/26 to interview in Allentown, but after calling, there is also the option of interview on 11/16 (my choice because of my other work commitments). There is hope!

From my understanding of their website:
CORE has #10 tracks ranging from research to business to law that you can choose from (http://health.usf.edu/medicine/mdprogram/scp/index.htm).

SELECT has the single track focusing on leadership development.

Yea that is the scholarly connection program, it seems like a great option to help specialize your focus.

I submitted my application over the summer in July and it still says my application was last viewed on 7/22. Should I send a follow up e-mail?

Plz don't--I believe USF doesn't like preinterview updates or emails unless it was really important

Not to downplay the scholarly concentrations program which has many cool aspects, but the SELECT program is not really comparable as simply a single track scholarly concentrations program. It is significantly different in terms of time commitment required and the activities involved. It also covers additional topics beyond leadership development--- patient centered care, and health systems among them.

No, I applied for CORE. I am referring to their Scholarly Concentration Program. I love the idea of the various concentrations they offer within the medical curriculum. SELECT seems very unique, but I'm not sure if the program would suit me best.

I was complete here on 7/15 and I havent even been looked at yet?!

yeah, it confuses me how some schools review apps hella fast and others are slow as turtles

I was told to apply early. I applied almost as early as humanly possible, and yet its not giving me any advantage at all.

In fact I'm starting to think I applied so early that all the schools forgot that my app exists.

lol

No they are just being used as place mats for the Chinese takeout the adcoms order while going over apps 😛

But forreal @Gandyy be more positive, we all have faith in you 🙂

Has anyone who has interviewed heard back yet?

Has anyone been to the social thing the night before?

My application complete email was on 8/11. My app has been viewed twice since then, on 9/8, and 9/28. Nothing has come of it yet :/.

yeah, i submitted the same day as you, but my app hasn't even been viewed. Some of these Florida schools are slow.

Yeah. It's not required that you attend. It's only to your benefit to help you relax, get more information about the school from current students, and get tips on interviews.

Does anyone know about how many people are interviewed for the SELECT program and how many students are in the SELECT program each year? I got a II a couple weeks ago and I'm really excited to learn more about the program

Is USF receptive to in the area letters? I will be traveling to FL from MA for an interview day at the end of the month. Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!

How are you able to see when your application was viewed? I am not seeing that information anywhere! Thank you!
It says it right on the App Status tab, right after "Your application is ready!". I didn't have anything written there until II'd

II, OOS, CORE!! Complete 8/24
Really short notice and only had two October dates to choose from, both less than two weeks away. I'm not sure if that is good or bad.

Congrats to all that got interviews thus far. As far as apps being reviewed and such, mine doesn't say it has been reviewed yet either, and I sent mine in about a month ago. I have heard that USF prioritizes apps in order of MCAT and GPA and look at higher MCAT/GPA earlier. Recent years they have particularly emphasized MCAT. I wonder if this has any affect on whether an app has been reviewed or not.

Looking at the 2014-2015 thread, it seemed like on October 15th USF was calling people as late as 10PM.

Dr. Daniels called me. I'm in!!! He's in California now, getting on a plane to Tampa, and said he'll do more calls tomorrow. So excited!!!
For those curious, LizzyM 70-1ish (3.59 gpa, 35 MCAT), but from his words, it was more than my numbers.

Dr. Daniels called me too! At 6:30 ish. He's busy traveling. His number showed up as "No Caller ID". My LizzyM was ~76. I'm so relieved to finally get my first acceptance! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

When did you interview there, if you don't mind.

Apologies if this has been asked (I didn't read through old posts), but if our app has been viewed with no news, does that mean a rejection?

Missed a call from Dr. Daniels earlier!! Worried I'll miss his second call tomorrow, I have a longgg work shift tmrw night and won't be able to access my phone
