2015-2016 University of Texas - San Antonio Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I interviewed 11/2, non-trad. Would rather not share stats while my other applications are pending.
No worries, thanks for sharing your interview date. Congrats again though, at least I know now that I'll probably get a silent rejection. Good luck with the rest of your applications!

So I emailed thank you notes before realizing they wanted them mailed. Should I also mail them so the admissions committee knows I sent them, or is it not such a big deal?

I don't think it's a big deal. Your interviewers might think it's strange if you mail them thank you cards after you've already emailed them. Also, unless you interviewed last week, it might be kind if late to send them. I don't think it's likely to affect your standing.

Spent the holidays in SA. Wish I could hear back from this school! Extremely unlikely at this point I know.

For those who pre-matched, do we just accept through the online portal or is there a physical letter which need to be mailed back? I'm travelling over the break so I want to make sure I get everything done

If you've pre-matched but haven't heard anything about scholarships yet, is it safe to assume that you won't be offered one?

They plan on sending out more scholarships before the preference rank on Jan 21st. But even if you don't get a scholarship then, UTHSCSA has multiple scholarship opportunities that open up in April. A list of the scholarships can be found on their website.

Great, thank you!

For the sake of those wondering about movement and stats, IS II today. Dates available 1/4 and 1/11. LizzyM ~68, extremely MCAT heavy. Also previously rejected MD/PhD on 8 December, strong clinical research background, weak-ish basic sciences research background.

EDIT: 1/7 is also available as per admissions office.

LizzyM 68, two years research, non-traditional applicant. Dates are still the same.

When did you guys have your application transmitted? I wonder why they're having January dates. On their original e-mail it said they'd be interviewing early August until December.

So UT:SA is still interviewing? That's good to know:nod:

On their main admissions page, they've said it from the beginning that their last interview date is Jan 11th. I'm hoping for a last minute II from here as well lol.

I still don't have an option to rank them on the match preference in TMDSAS. Anyone else not have them showing up? I interviewed on 10/30

I would email them. It took them about three weeks and I had to send a couple emails first.

Does anyone know how many OOSers they usually interview? I no longer have msar so I can't check.

Welp, after resigning myself to impatiently wait for the match process, I randomly checked TMDSAS this morning and saw an option to reject my pre-match offer from UTHSCSA, meaning I had an offer to accept! For some reason I never received the email that was supposedly sent on December 21st. Check the interview invite portal for offers of acceptance, too.

In-state, non-traditional student, interviewed August 3rd

Anyone going to the second look event this Saturday?

Congrats! Was there just a new tab in your portal?

I'm going! I'm really excited. Congrats!

For those who are going to the second look this weekend, what time does it end? The invite just gives the end time for the reception. I've got a prior commitment that evening.

They sent out an email with the complete agenda detailed in it today. The main event concludes at 9:25 pm, however the guided tour ends at 5:30 pm. I'm sure you are free to leave at will for other commitments throughout the day though. Hope that helps!

These numbers don't quite add up... haha. Thanks for your reply. Anyone have MSAR? I've never had it so I'm not sure what info they provide.

For each US allopathic medical school (and canadian schools too I think) MSAR provides...
-median MCAT/GPA scores
-# of applicants (IS/OOS), # of II's offered, # of acceptances
-racial demographics
-tuition and fees, degree programs
-% of students that have research, volunteer work, paid medical employment
-and a bunch of other stuff.

I saved this data from one of the TMDSAS reports.

You are both wonderful thank you. I don't see # accepted, only matriculated, am I missing something?

10% of the class is out of state. They accept about 225, so 25 or so will be out of state.

Perhaps you meant that they accept 225 total? Well no it must be more than that...
