For those that got acceptance calls, how do we confirm?? I thought in the call they said wait to receive an email and then confirm via the portal, but I have yet to receive an email and on my portal it states I'm still waiting to receive an admissions decision.

No update on my portal, I guess I am part of the February decision group then! Very relieved, I would have been sad if I was part of December's group and gotten rejected/waitlisted!!!

From what I remember, no wait list or rejection decisions were planned for December. It was either accept now, or no decision has been made, and then in Feb. it would be accept/wait list/reject.

I'm surprised we didn't get official letters or wmails

Portal update today. Also email said official acceptance letter on the way.

For those of you who have been accepted with scholarships, does the online portal or the letters we recently received mention them at all? The acceptance letter and portal don't mention the scholarship, but I was told about it over the phone and I'm kind of starting to doubt whether or not I misheard...

Any idea if scholarships are offered later in the cycle for those that were accepted without scholarship in December?
I asked Dr Coogan about it and she said if they have left over funds later in the cycle they will go back to the pool and look over the candidates. So potentially yeah. I'm sure that once the people who were offered start withdrawing late spring there will be some shuffling but I'm guessing it's a waiting game until then.

I was also told about a scholarship on the phone (or at least that's what I believe I heard) but there's no mention in my portal or in the letter I received either.

Anyone recieve certiphi background check emails yet?

During the interview day, did anyone else get the impression that the admissions committee wanted us to send them letters of interest before accept/waitlist/reject occurs in February? Most schools suggest sending letters of interest after the waitlist, but Vanderbilt seemed to say to send a letter if you really enjoyed your interview day.

I did write and send a letter of interest.

On my interview day recently, we were told that they are receptive to letters of interest/intent, but only during the later part of the application cycle (post-waitlist). The director of admissions specifically mentioned that those letters are only meaningful once she can see that you've been accepted elsewhere. She said that at this stage, such letters don't hold much weight.

hmm good to know! on the hand out they gave to us when we were leaving, the first thing it said "love your visit? Tell us! Write a letter of intent... ".

Yeah I wouldn't put too much weight into the above post. While the part about "seeing where you are accepted in April and having no problem pulling you off the list if you gave a letter with a good reason" is definitely true / echoed on my interview day, but there was nothing that said don't send it before then. Further, it would be inconsistent with the FAQ for them not to want a letter if, indeed, Vandy is your top choice.

Yeah, we definitely got that same handout. I suspect that she specifically went on to discuss the point of not sending an update until April was because she's gotten lots of those letters already, as my interview day was just last week. She might have started mentioning it recently, and I'm sure anyone who interviewed earlier than I did isn't going to be penalized.

I only felt compelled to mention it because I'm guessing most students are only going to send one letter of intent to Vandy, and that it'd be a shame if the original question-asker sent it now, but then didn't re-communicate his/her intent in April.

Instead of taking my word or your word, I'd suggest that the original question-asker should just call the office or email the director of admissions about when it would be best to send it. She was obviously incredibly nice and it sounded like she'd be receptive to this kind of question.

Dr. Kimble explicitly told us that if our decision is continued to February that we should send a letter if we are still interested in the school. Her exact wording was "it sends a very strong message if we don't hear from you."

Hey guys! Did they mention when the admissions committee would reconvene to discuss February decisions?

Anyone contacted about financial documents?

Does anyone know what Vanderbilt second look weekend is like?

Does anyone know what Vanderbilt second look weekend is like?
"For admitted students, Second Look Weekend is April 8 and 9th. Orientation begins July 20, 2016 (mandatory) and classes begin July 25, 2016. White Coat Ceremony isFriday, July 29, 2016."

I assume "mid February" hasn't been further defined somewhere has it? When was mid December?
By "mid" they really mean "late." Last year it was feb 23. In December it was like the 22nd or something.

Here's to hoping we hear back this week (earlier the better).
Last year it was released on a Monday (23rd) following a delay due to weather. So I assume they normally shoot for the week before that? Totally making educated guesses at this point.

That's like. tomorrow.

Edit: Sorry, just stating the obvious. I guess I did such a good job keeping my mind off of it that I'm surprised how fast the time has slipped by. Wow!

Yeah I kind of want to throw up. But I have two tests this week keeping me occupied. Each time I get a notification for this thread my heart drops (I say as I generate a notification for this thread). I just want to wait to be over...

I called.
So they said that the admissions committee still haven't met yet for this second wave, and currently, it is a waiting game. I also wonder if they watch SDN. Because someone picked up on the first ring and immediately answered my question 😛

Oh wow, that's not great. Did they give any mention of a time frame or hint to when the adcom will meet? Or was it more like you'll know when you know.. Haha

Not at all, so I'm guessing its going to be late February. Assuming that they are still giving out scholarships, the scholarship committee will have to meet after the admissions committee tooo..... all speculation.
