what reference forms are you referring to? I did not see anything about a reference form on the instructions that came with the supplemental application.

Wait, I misread. If this is for MD/PhD applicants than I have no idea. Sorry ._.
 
Status changed to "The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. If your status changes, you will receive an email regarding your recent status update."

That's the worst one before a rejection right?
 
Just wanna let you guys know, I had this status 2 days ago: "The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. Since we are dependent on the Committee member's schedules for interview spaces, we are unable to predict when or if we will be able to schedule you this year. If your status changes, you will receive an email regarding your recent status update."

And I just got an II. Moral of the story...don't read into the status messages too much.

Actually, I got the status yesterday, not 2 days ago....so yeah...definitely don't read into it too much. Good luck with everything!

I've learned not to worry about submissions dates when it comes to getting invites. My other II came from a school I submitted on 7/3, and didn't get it until a few days ago. And there were people who submitted a few weeks after me that got an II before me. Moral of the story, as long as we got it in this early, we have given ourselves as much of an advantage as possible. Something tells me that they don't review in the exact order that they are received. I submitted this one on 7/7, got the complete message on 7/23, and haven't been updated since.

Nah, that's the exact status I got before getting an II last week. Don't worry!

I'm in the exact same boat (submitted 7/23) and: "Your application has been received by the VCU School of Medicine and now will begin the process of evaluation. There will be a preliminary review of your application prior to receipt of a supplemental application."

be sure to post if anything changes!

Haven't really been waiting all that long (August 6) but I still haven't gotten a single email from them, so I feel you, though I'm from way out of state.

You might want to just log on and see if you received a secondary. I didn't get any email from them but I tried logging in and saw that I was granted one. .

Sadly I have been logging in pretty regularly and still have not gotten one 🙁

Last year, the school had the highest number of applicants ever, which then led to change in leadership for the Admissions Committee. Due to the way the school gives out its acceptances, it doesn't necessarily matter when you interview. If you're still waiting on secondaries here or elsewhere, just prewrite the prompts and submit whenever you do get them.
 
Can anyone recommend any resources to help answering their ethics essay?

Things got so crazy, there was a mutiny in the admissions committee. One admissions officer staged a violent coup and, after a three day blood bath, a new order was established...

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone experienced anything similar or has any insight as to what's going on here.

I received an email for a status change but under "File Status" it just says "complete". On the homepage it says, "Your profile is currently being reviewed by the Sub-Committee. This review will determine whether or not your profile will be forwarded for File Review. You may check your status online at any point during this process." and then under that it has the Hold for MCAT and Hold for Grades notifications. Does everyone have that? I'm confused as to why I didn't get one of those four other messages. I'm Canadian btw
 
FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT RECEIVED A SECONDARY YET!!!!!!

I received a secondary on 7/22/15 but did not receive any email notification of it. I found the secondary link in this thread and simply entered my AAMC ID and birth date to see if it works. AND IT DID!!!! It sucks that I did not know about it earlier, but oh well.

I emailed them about not getting a secondary and having the above status in the portal.

Response:
Our records indicate that your profile is still under going the preliminary screening, This process normally takes about 6-8 weeks, depending upon how fast the committee can get through reviews. Once the review is complete, you will be notified of your updated status by email. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Admissions Office or myself.

I've had the same since July 23rd haha. No idea what's going on.
 
got the "The committee's file review indicates that they are interested in your candidacy. However, due to the increase in the applicant pool this year, it is clear we MAY be unable to interview all the candidates at your priority score. If we do find that we are unable to grant an interview, you will be notified by e-mail in March." message. finally an update!

medical school applications are so unpredictable haha. got an interview at yale today and then this confusing message from VCU so i'm just gonna stop trying to predict anything about my application!

Look at my post at the bottom of the last page. I emailed them and they basically said just to wait. I've had that for over a month now.

Got the 2nd priority score today, was complete 8/1.

Got a status change and freaked out and also nearly choked on my drink.

FIRST II EVER!!! Hopefully not my last.

I literally threw my phone on the table afterwards, just to make sure it's real life. My phone survived the casualty. Sorry phone.
 
Not as exciting as the above posts, but for those waiting for secondaries, log into the secondary link and check your status.
I just logged in and found out I had been granted a secondary with the last few hours

EDIT: my status change occurred within the last couple of hours but according to the system, the secondary was granted on the 13th!!! And since they give you one month to complete it, it's due on the 12th, even though I could only actually access it today (I even tried this morning and it wasn't available).

Nicely done VCU, nicely done...

Anybody able to shed some light on this business:
"The School of Medicine has a geographically separate campus at the Inova Fairfax Hospital. Beginning in 2005, 24 students will do all of their third year clinical rotations at this busy Northern Virginia Hospital. In order to best judge the number of interested students we request that you indicate agreement next to the single best answer for you:
I am interested and willing to commit to my 3rd and 4th year only at Fairfax.
I am interested and willing to spend my 3rd and 4th year at either Fairfax or MCV Hospitals.
I am interested and willing to commit to my 3rd and 4th year only at MCV Hospitals."

It seems kind of odd to make someone commit to something like this on a supplementary application! What are the pros and cons of agreeing to get shipped to this Fairfax place?
 
I really wish people would stop suggesting to log in to the secondary to find it. I literally do that every single day. I think we all know by now that we need to check our status.

" screen for over a month now. I'm starting to wonder if maybe OOS students are looked at later since VCU is a public institution....
