I am seriously still working on my essay. Do you guys know if they pre-screen?

I applied to FSU and got the secondary so far. I am completing secondary right now. I am going through whole process anyway but just wanted to ask?
DO I have a chance.
I am IS, High GPA > 3.9, Decent EC, volunteering, Research, co-author. Low MCAT < 500. DO I have a chance? Do you anybody with these stats and got accepted.
I am going to take MCAT in January and will update school.

Hello @Hasniii, I know someone who matriculated into the last class with a 499 on the MCAT. I would like to say that his other stats are similar to yours, but we were really just acquaintances and I do not know much else about him. For what it is worth, he is not a URM. Good luck on your MCAT in January!

Thanks. I am not URM either. I just got very unlucky with MCAT, got decent practice score also. Hoping to get here.

Submitted secondary yesterday and 'under review' email today. Hoping for some love.

So besides the one, have any other ED applicants received an interview?

Has any regular applicant received any update yet including II?

ED under review as of 07/29, haven't heard anything yet either. I did tour the medical school yesterday and recall the lady giving the tour mentioning invites going out next week (I think that's what she said)

Fingers crossed, really like this school! & Goodluck to all of you!

Why does USF want to know about my travel experience?

I think FSU's application wants to know more about your personality and what you do in your free time. If travel isn't that important to you, I wouldn't embellish it. Just be honest. Even if it's just that you drive an hour to visit family on some weekends

Hello!

Just recently submitted my AMCAS and am waiting for an MCAT score. I'm hoping to find the secondary application essay prompts and get a head start on them.

Good luck to everyone!!

Hello @Chemist1986, congratulations on submitting your primary application! The prompt is on page two of this thread.

I have been completed Regular Decision since 07/20/2016 with everything submitted (LOR/MCAT/ESSAYS). I contacted admissions previously to see if I was completed and they said they received everything on 07/20/2016. However, I just received a letter saying my application is complete. People who were completed around that time did you just receive an email as well or did you receive this email earlier in the cycle?

Title of the email was "FSU College of Medicine - Application Complete"

What does your FSU application status read on the secondary application website? For instance, I sent in my application 07/15 and received that e-mail on 07/20.

Hey, do you guys know if FSU screens before sending out secondary's. I've been verified since August 18th and haven't received anything back yet. If you guys know anything, please give me a shout 🙂

I had the same question. I'm not sure if they screen but my AMCAS was verified 8/26 and I just received the secondary today.

To answer previous questions here, I am sure that they do have a screening process.

The FSU website says that ED interviews are done early September. Is it fair to start worrying about not getting an II at this point?

If you apply ED and do not get an interview, does that mean your cycle is over?

Past years have received interview offers around mid August to the first week of September, so the ED cycle may be coming to a close soon.

🙁 Definitely not what I wanted to hear. Well, has anyone been rejected from ED yet?

I've heard from friends at FSU that the Honors Medical students make up most of the ED accepted applicants so it is very difficult to receive an interview unless your application is outstanding. You should have a better chance during Regular Decision though, so don't give up!

Well I wish I knew that earlier, now it's kinda looking like I just wasted a year of my life, since my chances anywhere else after 10/1 are more or less shot.

It's why ED is so risky. My pre-med advisor specifically told me not to go ED for that reason.

Idk if we should worry too much just yet ^. I know plenty of FSU students (not in Honors) who did ED last year and they pretty much all got accepted. I'm also ED and haven't heard back yet but still hoping for something since there should be about a month left for ED applicants..
Has anyone who's been complete since July/early August gotten an II yet?

Well I did not do my undergrad at FSU, I am just a non-trad from Florida. It makes sense that they would mainly take FSU students. I just wish I knew that before, I talked to multiple advisers at FSU before hand, and they didn't indicate that applying ED would be a bad idea.

What about non-FSU students? I've been under review since 07/20. Going on 2 months now, not looking good!
