I got my MCAT score today, and then I got an email from Mayo!
They asked me for more money!! But not LORs. Do they ask everyone for more money?

That means you made it past the first screen! Pay that fee and Mayo(s) will start reviewing your app further.

Just received my LOR receipt confirmations from MN and AZ yesterday (7/19).
Fee requests from both on 7/7, fees received 7/8. LOR request from AZ on 7/13 and MN on 7/14.

I'm a non-trad/career changer applicant (will be 30 when I start medical school if admitted this cycle). LizzyM ~70. Interesting/unique ECs

I did a summer program at mayo last year and Dean Bostwick told me that the MCAT screen for mayo is 30. So I think metrics play some sort of a factor. But I agree with everyone who has said that Mayo is more holistic in their review philosophy.

Yeah quite a few medical schools have these screens that are unofficial as they make exceptions for certain demographics.

Each campus has their own independent adcom. Same standards, but different timelines, depending on how fast each one works and what volume of apps each campus received. I wouldn't worry about it yet.

Reading last year's thread, I was surprised at how lively it was and how many jokes everybody cracked. Maybe it's just self-selection for those applying to Mayo, but it seems like it'll happen again this year. 😛

Why did the pre-med get accepted by Mayo? Because they were good at giving condiments.

One of my friends and/or family members mixes ketchup with mayo and eats her fries like that. SO WEIRD.

I'm amazed that it took 10 pages of forum before we addressed the fact that the medical school has the same name as a condiment.

Looks like a fee request email but they've told you the actual fee has been waived. You can probably call admissions to double check.

I got that too. Eventually if they like your application they will ask for your LOR

Guess some dreams are mean't to remain dreams to motivate us to try harder. Still in the running for Mayo AZ but I'm guessing another rejection will come too.

Yeah. This one definitely hit me hard. I know there're a lot of applicants way more qualified than me but it still feels personal. All we can do is keep moving forward on our own path and who knows maybe we'll end up at Mayo for residency.

Don't worry about the rejection. It's part of the game. ALL of us will experience it over the next year. However, I assure you that you will end up being accepted to a medical school that will help you grow into the kind of physician you aim to be. It may not be Mayo, MN, but stay optimistic! Great things are ahead of you.

Hmmm..I believe my research experience (1000+ hours) stood out? I also have extensive experience volunteering at a health and wellness organization so that may have contributed as well.

Thank you!! I paid the fee last Friday, got the "fee received" email on 7/18, and then got the LOR request on 7/21 at 11PM

Got the LOR requests for ARZ and MN!

I was curious to what they used to send these out because my GPA is definitely not 3.8 and I'm Canadian. MSAR says they look at GPA, MCAT, and ECs - research, medical, and service but didn't mention the weighting of each of these.
