2016-2017 Mayo Medical School (MN) Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Holy crap. II!!!!! Are they doing rolling admissions this year? Trying to decide if I should schedule me interview for November or December.

I don't think they're doing rolling admissions. From what I've heard acceptances will be going out starting late January. I would schedule the interview for when you will be ready. Good luck!

Same. I want to know if I'm still under consideration because I'm debating whether I should take a new job out of state and it'd be helpful to know if I still have a shot at med school. I've applied for two years to around 50 schools and haven't received an II from any school. I'm moving on if I don't get an II this year.

Is that all of MN or just Rochester? There's weird laws everywhere. I wouldn't make that a deal breaker.
I think just Rochester but I'm not sure. MN doesn't strike me as the type of state to have super strict booze laws.

You CAN fill a growler at a bar after 9pm though. I guess that legislation was a bit recent

Complete in early October. My fate is creeping up on me. Still, I'll take the waiting over the rejection any day.

That said, my submission, LORr, and completion email were all within a span of two weeks, so I can't say I've been doing too much waiting. 😛

My LORs were received 9/19 for MN and 9/6 for AZ. So I'm kinda late in the process too so I have my hopes up.

I was the same I think. Close to the same at least. But, I'm losing hope pretty quick. I think receiving the LORr from both campuses gave me a false sense of confidence that has been depleted the last month.

speaking of which, has anyone been rejected recently? never rejected but haven't heard anything since LORr complete 7/13ish. anyone else?

For me it's tough because I know I'd make a great doc and it's my dream and what I'm truly passionate about doing with my life and career. I just haven't had the opportunity to show that in person to an adcom member anywhere yet.

My letters were received around 7/20 for both campuses... AZ invite around 9/20, MN invite around 10/20.

So I waited 2 months to hear from AZ, 3 months to hear from MN. Hang in there, it ain't over yet!

Wow. That took a long time. Thanks for the support and good luck to you. I wish there were more med school spots available to everyone.

Well I haven't been rejected either so that's not a bad thing obviously.
Obviously lol. My point in trying to find whose been rejected is to see what date they've gotten to in terms of rejections. As in, are they still actively rejecting post LOR or have they also switched to silent rejections until after the cycle is over. The problem with my logic though is that people don't tend to follow threads after the school's rejected them which means I'm unlikely to receive a real response

Yeah. Either way it doesn't seem like II or rejections came in large waves. A few here and there. But it seems like a few go out each Saturday.

Your patience is admirable. Congrats about the successes!

Submitted secondary/fee end of June, received a rejection letter beginning of august, beginning of September received an e-mail saying my application was re-opened, and then today received an II!!! Thanks for the roller coaster ride MAYO

Got an invite from AZ campus, but not MN. Yet, I can access the MN interview scheduler. . . . Hmmmmm
Did you try scheduling? Edit: Lmfao, I can schedule minn. too all of december and january are open. Maybe we just didn't get the interview invite email ? :O

Are you guys saying that your account works for both portals? Or can you access the calendar from inside the other one?

As a current MN resident, the laws are surprisingly strict. Beer, wine, and liquor are ONLY sold in specific liquor stores and never past 9pm.

Still, not a reason to not attend a school.

Holy cow, that's statewide?!

Georgia was like that until a few years ago. Now with local approval all liquor can be sold on sundays after 12:30.

But the law in MN allows most restaurants to serve with local approval.

Serve on Sunday to be clear. Also worst case you can drive to WI on Sunday if you need booze that bad.

Account login works for both portals. I noticed this 1-2 months ago and I haven't received an II email from MN yet, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Looks like their system isn't advanced enough to separate scheduling.

It says in my interview invite email that the login will work for both portals. I don't think it means anything.
