Could you share a bit more about the interview content? What types of questions, especially those that varied from the standard "Why do you want to be a PT?"?

From what I was told, people didn't all get the same questions. But in general, the questions were pretty in line with a lot of the lists on the internet - some 'tell me about a time...', some about current issues in the field, some about motivations and past experiences.

I got "why pt?", "tell me about a time you were involved in a conflict", "what are your plans if you don't get into pt school", "tell me about a time you failed", "what characteristics do you have that make you ready for pt? (basically strengths, but didn't ask for weaknesses)", "what would you do if a classmate wasn't doing their best or work was going downhill", and "what do you usually look for in a pt program (like what things do you think a pt program should have or that makes it appealing to you)"

Did anyone get this many questions? I felt like I got a lot of questions and the interview felt like forever when i got out. I enjoyed it though. There was these questions and then plus the 3 questions I had for each of them. Idk if it was because nervous but they were really laying these questions on me lol

Also, do y'all usually send out thank you emails to the people who interviewed you?

@outofdaloop I got some of the same questions you got, plus some others... that interview was never ending ahah

I think to summarize: the professor asked questions related to PT school to judge how strong of a candidate I am for the program, while the clinician asked questions about the profession to judge how much I knew and how good of an actual PT I would be. (Issues, APTA, healthcare, etc)
she also asked questions off my answers so maybe that's why the interview was longer.

We ran out of time, so whenever it came time for my questions I only asked one because I was already over time.

I honestly meant to send a thank you note after each interview but most of the time I forgot lol
I sent an email for UTMB, but the faculty was out of the office and I received an acceptance, before she even opened the email. I actually never got a reply from her.
And I sent an email to the faculty at Texas State last night and he replied pretty quickly.
It's professional yes, but I'm not sure it actually increases your chances for every school. For Texas State, I'm tempted to think every little thing matters because of that email thing I was talking about earlier.
Anywoo, it doesn't take much time to draft a thank you note, and it definetely doesn't hurt 🙂

I think i'm going to send one anyways because just in case lol The clinician I got didn't really ask a lot of questions. He was more so listening (i was giving long explanations) and kind of really observing how I answered questions and kept looking back at the professor to see what he was thinking. lol He didn't really ask my questions like what yours had, and even if he did he didnt have time.

Has anyone heard anything from UT San Antonio? They said they would send out an email for the interviews on Dec 2 and 3rd before Thanksgiving, but I have not heard anything.

Nothing here. I'm crossing my fingers though.
I sent an email asking if they had already notified students for the Dec 2 and 3 interviews and if they hadn't, would they still be notifying students before Thanksgiving. I will let you know if she responds!

Great! I appreciate it.

I got an automated email back saying that she was going to be out of the office Wednesday-Friday. I'm not sure if this means we won't here until next week.. but that seems odd to me that they would give us less than a weeks notice. I would also think that at least someone on this forum would hear about the Dec 2 and 3 interviews, so my guess is that they haven't sent out invites yet.

Man it seems unbelievable that they would wait until 5 days before interviews to notify candidates.

I know right! Maybe they have sent out interview invites and I just didn't get one... I guess we will all find out next week (hopefully) !

I remember someone mentioned TWU will be getting back to us on December 15th. Do you guys know if it's around the 15th or on the 15th like TSU (they gave a specific date)?

Last year forum people got acceptances about 2 days before up until the date listed so they're pretty specific.

Has anyone heard from UNTHSC? I know they usually send out some late interviews but it's one of the last ones that I'm waiting to hear from. I think they did one round of interview so far. Do they usually do another in January and then one in February? Or December and February? I want to see where all I get into before accepting a school but I don't want to make the schools wait (and the people on the wait list).

I think UNT has done two rounds of interviews so far. They have accepted people after each round. I'm sure they have more to do.

Anyone know about UTSW? Do they just do one round of interviews at the start of January or are they sending out more interviews?

Is it ok to email/call a school to ask where I am on the list/ if it's likely that I'll get an interview? Should I wait until the end of the year?

Some things I have learned in the past week: TWU received about 700 applicants, and they have already sent out rejection letters to people who didn't make their first "cut". This was about ~400 people. Now, they are down to 300 applicants that they are still reviewing for the ~100 spots they have available. So, if you haven't heard from TWU and your application is still under review, that's a good thing!!! (I think) that means you made the first "cut" and are now in the top 300 applicants. This info is straight from Mary Beth via email.

Also, @RiceOwl02 and I talked about this in previous posts in the forum - UNT has not sent out anything since their October 21st interview. There is another interview in Feb. but I don't think they have sent out interviews exclusively for that date yet!

I hope this helps!!! I will forward any more info I find out 🙂

I can tell you there are about ~30 people on the UNT class of 2020 Facebook page. Some are second and third year students so my guess is about 20 people there for the 2020 class. So definitely still open seats. There were about 30 people at my UNT interview. Hope that helps and you all hear soon.

@latissimus dorsi

What is your first choice? Did you like Texas State?
Hard to tell. I like Angelo state for the school and I like Texas state for the location. My experience at Texas state was a little confusing (I had an interview and then they didn't have any more campus tours and they didn't have orientation until a while later even though the email said they had one right after the interview) I think because they interviewed everyone the same day it was a little crazy. And I couldn't go to the meet and greet the night before due to work. But I loved the location and I like the locations in Dallas so I want to see all my results. although it would be fun to be in a little town like San Angelo also so if I don't get into Texas state, it'll be ok.

On Oct. 16th Mary Beth had sent an email with some info (after I received the acceptance on Oct.14th) and at the very bottom of the email it said:

"This year was a very competitive year with over 600 applications. Averages of our accepted students:
Last 60 hours GPA 3.85
Math & Science GPA 3.8
GRE V 153
GRE Q 153
GRE A 4"

i'm not really sure what these numbers refer to. I want to say they refer to this past application cycle, since at that time, they had only accepted about 10 people.
Don't know if it helps any!

Received the same email with the same stats from TWU and assumed it was last year also. I did really like the Fort Worth location for UNT however. I would bet that having all the interviews on one day would be a little overwhelming. Congrats on San Angelo.

I'm wondering if they used those stats as a cut off for their early offers (of course including letters of rec, etc)
I don't think so, because my GPA stats are definitely not up to the average, but I haven't gotten a rejection so I don't know whether or not to be relieved or scared...

Same! Still hoping. Well know soon!

When she put Math and Science GPA does she mean Math and Science prereq GPA? Because if they just look at Math and Science GPA then I wonder what was the point of filling out that Prereq GPA form lol

I meant early offer as in for the 10 or so acceptances they already sent, but it was just a guess. I don't think this is their cut off for regular acceptance, it just seems too high.

@outofdaloop, I think it's overall math and science because I remember seeing on their website something that explains which courses are included in the math and science GPA
but yeah, I'm sure they look at Pre Req GPA because they wouldn't have made us fill this for nothing, lol. I don't know why it wasn't included in the summary stats

And if I remember correctly, weren't they one of the few schools that wanted calculus? Honestly I may have mixed up schools. @beyoutiful_sunshine

@dptwannabee1 I don't recall them specifically asking for calculus, but I took calc so I wasn't paying much attention to each school's math requirement since calculus was usually accepted

Thank you for this update @baker16 ! I knew from talking to friends that TWU had started sending out rejections, but I didn't know how many had been sent out. My application status was "awaiting department review" when I checked it! This is welcomed news since I was rejected from TX State and UTMB in the last couple of weeks, and I haven't heard anything from Tech since my September interview.

Of course! I definitely think it is a good thing you have not heard from TWU yet!!! and I interviewed with Tech in middle of October and I haven't heard from them either! Which campus did you interview at?

Do y'all think we will hear ON Dec 2nd about being accepted/denied to Texas State?

I was at the Amarillo campus. Which one did you interview at?

Awesome! I was at the Lubbock campus! I think they are having another Amarillo interview coming up so maybe you will hear when that is finished!!

Update on UTHSCSA! I got a vague email back from Nora Eblen, and all she said was that "all students are still considered." I am not totally sure what that means... but I'm assuming they haven't made any moves on interviews yet!

@Striving4Awesomeness

@baker16 Yes it is 🙂

@JoshuaT01 I think you have really good stats! The only "weaker" parts I see would maybe be the number of PT observation hours and the GRE AW score, but your GPAs look great 🙂

When did your app get verified?
