Yo so today the Pre-Reception visit states that attire is casual. How casual is casual? Like, if I am wearing jeans, vans, and a button down shirt that is not buttoned with a shirt underneath is that too casual?

Got the on-hold email this morning. Complete 8/9. LizzyM 75. OOS. Here's to hoping an II comes soon.

There was a whole range of clothing when I went. There were men who wore collared shirts + ties + slacks + nice shoes. As a woman I wore business casual. There were people in jeans, and there were people in t shirts. I'm not saying this will happen to you, I don't know how they are doing it, I know this did not happen with some of my peers, but two of my interviewers the next day were people I had met and talked to the night before at the pre-reception. For that reason, I was glad I was wearing business casual that night.

Put on hold this morning... Complete 8/9. IS LizzyM 74, keeping my fingers crossed for an interview..

Would this include this upcoming weekend's interview date?
Yes. This was asked at my interview as well as the first day acceptances will be sent out (end of Sept) and how they can send them out earlier than Oct 15 (they said they checked with AAMC and got in cleared).

Congrats! I'm interviewing there this Friday. Did you think it was a low stress environment overall?
SUPER low stress. I loved UA Tucson. It felt like a very warm environment to me and everyone seemed so happy there. They have really cool opportunities for their students to pursue their interests and grow (societies, distinction tracks, level of access to sim center, the list goes on), and when the students say that everyone is so helpful and supportive of each other, I actually believe them as opposed to when other schools have said that and it's just felt cold to me. The students also not only get physician mentors, but student mentors as well which is so cool. All the students in one class also seem incredibly close, and will go play sports, see movies, go out together and just generally hang out. They just recently had a dodgeball tournament with the Houses (you'll learn about the Houses at your interview, but every student gets placed into a house with a Dean) where the Deans actually played as well. I really hope I get in here, because I absolutely loved it.

That sounds awesome! Thank you for this comment, definitely decreased my anxiety lol.

Nah, definitely submit! Have you pre-written it?

Don't worry about it, at least you found it now, right?

do you remember if you used up the entire word count (350) for your essays? a few of mine are around 200 words but i feel that they answered the question in that amount of words

I used pretty much all of the word count. I think my shortest one was in the 340s, but I also felt that I needed the room. If you think you can express your answer effectively, clearly and more concisely than I was able to, then definitely do it. There is a lot to be said for being concise, I just would say to make sure you are not missing out on an opportunity to showcase who you are, if that makes sense. If you feel comfortable sending your essays to me I would be willing to take a look.

Hey I interviewed here on the 2nd. How it worked was you had two minutes to read your prompt, then seven minutes to discuss your answer and finally one minute to rotate to the next station!
Thanks for the input!

i was able to get all of my essays in the 340 word range and I just submitted my app! Thanks for all your help and encouragement 🙂

@myboysiddartha @pandasaregreat hey guys! and anyone else who interviewed. I was wondering how long the MMI stations were?

yeah I had my rest station last haha so had to go through all 9 stations. but it really did fly by! you read the prompts on iPads then go in the room, but yes they explain the format to you before you begin the process (that morning)

We review secondaries based on the order they were completed and received.

@UAZ COM-T Admissions, Would that be just secondaries or do you guys wait for LOR's as well? I submitted my secondary at the beginning of August but my letters took a few extra weeks to be submitted so I was just wondering which date I would be grouped with.

anyone know when people who interviewed already hear back? The end of September?

Yes, but I believe their website says November. So I am unclear as to which is correct.

End of September is apparently per the information disseminated at interviews. Some recent posts on this board discuss it. We only have max 10 more days of waiting before we find out if this is infact the case.

They said 4-5 weeks for mid-September interviews. I haunted last year's thread earlier and it looked like the first notifications went out mid-late October and the beginning of November for those times. A few people said that once the red exclamation point turns to a check, then your review is complete and you should hear soon.

I'm really curious to see if they actually send out notifications this month, or just make decisions and let us know around the release date in October.

It was asked at my interview. They said the dates on the website are general, not exact. They spoke with AAMC about their process of sending out the first acceptances in Sept, and were told that was ok. We were told at our interview we would hear back end of September if we are accepted, and it was a mid September interview.

Hope this provides some clarification.

As a first year student, I can tell you this is exactly how life is here. Its not just a face during interview day

That's exactly the impression I got. It all felt very genuine 🙂 I really hope I get the opportunity to be a part of that culture as well.

Wait Tuscon is allowed to give results on interview prior to October 17th? I was under the impression that's a big no-no with AAMC.

No idea, they said they checked with AAMC. I don't know anything beyond that.

I called admissions yesterday who said it takes 5-6 weeks from your interview date to receive a decision and they can't state the actual date. So does that mean it is coming out mid October after all?

There's no sense in worrying about this. @UAZ COM-T Admissions has already stated that the first set of acceptances will be made at the end of September. For what interview dates? My assumption is the first two. Either way it goes, none of us are going to get a decision until we get a decision. So just sit back and try not to worry about it.

Hold today as well OOS complete 8/7. Idt they're rejecting so don't know how likely it is to get off hold :/

were u ever on hold?? Also Congrats thats awesome!Best of luck friend

OOS, got this message today:

"We welcome your continued interest in the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson. Your application has completed the primary screening phase for an interview invitation. Our medical school is currently unable to invite you to interview. However, we have determined that you are a competitive candidate and you will continue to be considered during this application cycle."

I'll take it. I'm assuming this is the hold message.

For the people who got II's today, when were you put on hold (if you were put on hold)?
