I'm interviewing on that date too! 🙂I am currently scheduled to interview on November 7th. I am planning to stay the night of November 6th at the hotel near the medical school (courtyard orlando lake nona). Anybody want to split the cost of a room (double bed) with me? I am a male.
Also interviewering that date (but I'm from the area) but it will be cool to have a handful of sdn people at the interview!
You must have Florida DL and voter's or vehicle registration with dates that are at least one year old on the start date of the medical program. If you have documents with dates by late July 2016, you will be considered a Florida resident "for tuition purposes" for the class starting in August 2017. You should also be able to provide documentation of a lease, employment, etc, of that time if asked.@REL - Question about residency: if you are living in Florida when you apply (lets say June), but have not been there for a full year yet, are you considered a Florida resident for admissions and/or tuition purposes? You will have been a year long resident by the time the first day of class starts, but not at the point of applying/interviewing/acceptance. Is it possible you could be recognized as OOS by admissions and IS by tuition standards? Thanks!
Does anybody know if UCF has any specific requirements for laptops?
You get a laptop and iPad during the first weekI believe so - I found this on their website. https://med.ucf.edu/student-affairs/student-services/enrollment-requirements/laptops/
I think they will probably issue laptops during orientation.
are you IS? Congrats btw!
I love u YgritteWaitlisted today, interviewed in October. Love their transparency about the whole process. Fingers crossed for some movement because I adore this school!
Before the COM was created there was a UCF Burnett College of Biomedical Science had responsibility for undergraduate and graduate academic bachelors degree programs as well as the MS/PhD research programs. When the COM was approved, the UCF Burnett College became a School and became immediately subordinate to the College of Medicine. So the UCF COM is somewhat different than many medical schools in that they are directly responsible for granting bachelor's, masters, PhD, and of course the MD degrees. The Dean of the COM is responsible for all of these programs and is the one to confer all of these degrees as well as signing all of the diplomas of the COM program graduates. All of those diplomas indicate UCF COM BS/MS/PhD degree in biomed science, etc., signed by the COM Dean. On a side note the COM Dean is also the VP of the UCF Health Sciences so when the other medically related colleges (nursing, eventually dental, allied or public health) join us at Lake Nona complex it will be unified under one single leader to help advance interactive and collaborative healthcare in the university hospital that is also being planned by our leadership here at Lake Nona.@REL does the UCF COM have a relationship with the Burnett School of Biomedical Studies? I understand some schools look very favorably to when an applicant does well in their MBS program. Have there been many UCF MBS graduates that have gone onto the COM? Do you or anyone else know how the UCF MBS program is perceived throughout the nation? Thanks!
There have been some current MD student posts earlier in this thread with offers to answer questions.Interview request on 11/28. Any MS1/2/3s on here? I would love to ask some questions I have to see if I want to go to the interview. Anyone know if community service is required? How is it incorporated into curriculum like is it a part of a class? Is class pass fail? Is there any time off to study for USMLE? Are classes recorded?

To address your question of perception of the degree, I have no relationship to that portion of the COM and I have no idea how that degree is perceived nationally. I do know that the MD degree is very highly respected and has already reached the upper quartile of the nation with respect to everything measurable via the limited data available nationally. I also know that our BS students have gotten into many other good MD programs across the nation in the last 3-4 years. So my guess that it is a degree that is being perceived highly as well. The nation is watching Lake Nona and that can only be a good thing for the perception of the degrees that are/will be conferred from the programs.
What are interviews like here? I know it's 2 30-min interviews, but do they ask standard questions (why medicine, why UCF, etc.) or do they ask ethical/ situational questions?
Did they mention available scholarships at the interviews? I am just wondering because I love UCF, but the only way I would be able to go vs the schools I've gotten into that are in my hometown would be if I got a huge scholarship lol.

Accepted 11/2. Very impressive school, actually showed STEP data compared to other schools to prove their success rather than just saying it (really stood out to me). Financial Aid will come around February if I remember correctly. Top choice so far!
