Is anyone going to interview this Thursday, 10/27??

any thoughts on if it is better to be placed on hold or have heard nothing back at all? And, if I haven't heard anything back, should I write a letter of intent if this is in fact my top choice?

Does anyone who already completed the interview know if its a one-on-one traditional, group or MMI-type interview?

I interviewed recently. I had three traditional one-on-one open file interviews, one with a current medical student, one with a member of the admissions office, and one with a faculty member.

Rejected today,
Completed in mid September.
LizzyM 78, OOS

Good Luck to everyone with II!

Yep it's three traditional one-on-one interviews. Each one stressing on your fit as a potential mentee/student (faculty interview), colleague (med student interview), and future provider (administration interview). All my interviews were really relaxed, and many of my fellow interviewees reported the same. You're in for a good day 🙂

definitely not the news one would want to start the week off with... may i ask when your complete date was?

It was like early October? I submitted it v late bc it wasn't a top choice, but since I paid for primary I figured why not just try. It's totally cool, my top three schools still haven't rejected me so fingers crossed

I got put on hold within two days of submitting my secondary. Also on a Sunday lol...they don't play games at UChicago.

wishing you good luck! thanks for the reply

For those of you also on hold for later review, is there a way to check when exactly your status changed to Hold? Did you all receive an email? I was complete 9/13 and only checked the portal today to see the hold.

Just hopped on the rejection train. Complete 8/10, LizzyM 74.

It stung a little, but I am glad I made the attempt.
Congratulations to everybody who has been accepted!!

Placed on hold pre-II about a week ago. Was complete in mid-August. Is there any hope for an II? Would an update letter help? I've started a new non-clinical volunteering position, but not sure if that warrants an update.

Anyone complete aug or earlier with complete silence (no hold or anything)?

My letters were sent around 8/15 but I wasn't marked complete on the portal for a week or two after that. Total silence.

Do you guys think that it's worth my time/money to submit my secondary now? I've had to put this off for a variety of reasons, and now I'm worried that it's just too late.

I'm applying to the MSTP if that makes any difference (with LizzyM 81).

Anybody know what odds are for people who got continued? Is there any chance i hear back at the next acceptance date, or should I just hope to be placed in a good position on the wait list ay the end of the cycle?

Honestly maybe. I interviewed there MSTP early September and I know they've already filled maybe 1/3 of their seats already and may have already sent or most of their interviews.

ugh im sorry to hear that. would you mind telling us your "complete" date
Complete date 10/13/2016. Very late.

It's impossible to know the order in which the ADCOM reviews the files, but I'm willing to bet that they take the highest metrics and put them into a pile, then they take the lowest metrics and put those into a pile. Low metrics get rejections first. High metrics are put on hold until later in the review process when they can start looking more in depth for "fit". The only disadvantage for any applicant is being a major outlier. I wouldn't read into it beyond that. It really is all about "fit". I do know people with 100th percentile test scores, 4.0 GPAs and average EC's that have been rejected by even low to mid tier schools. On the other hand, I've met plenty of people who had low stats and were accepted into competitive programs, but had interesting backgrounds.

Best of luck with the process!

Definitely send the secondary. You have high stats and Chicago loves that.

Hi everyone! Long time lurker. Does anyone know if Chicago is receptive to letter of intent, pre-II? It's my top [OOS] choice. Also, I submitted 9/16, would it be too early to send one in?

I believe the LOI would be looked upon more favorably post II. Just my two cents.

They already believe you are intent on attending their program, by default, since you applied.

Sorry to hear that 🙁

I was also complete mid-august but portal just says "application complete" still. anyone else in the same boat?
I was complete early July and it still says application complete, no hold or anything
