You guys think that not hearing back is better than being wait listed?

Any other 1-5 people very anxious?

Yea, although I'm not sure I would personally end up going here if I got in. I really liked the school when I visited and thought it was beautiful, but I'm also worried about being the inaugural class in a primarily PBL curriculum. I don't mind PBL, but I prefer it as supplement to lecture rather than the primary method of learning

Hard to say but my hunch is no.
They probably accept and WL those they want and the rest are deferred so they can save them in case they need them to fill the class.
But don’t quote me

Do they only send out decisions on Tuesday’s? Or could the 1/5 people still hear back this week?

People in this thread have posted their decisions on Tuesdays-Fridays in January, so who knows 😀

Anyone else still not heard anything pre-II? I've been complete since 12/6 and haven't heard a peep. Seems weird that more recent applicants are being rejected before I've heard anything one way or another.

Beyond happy for all of you getting good news today!!! So awesome.

I'm on the same boat, except I submitted a few days prior. Every time I see a round of rejections go out I just think "well...at least I live to see another day" lol.

Congratulations to all accepted!

Interviewed 01/05. Got the waitlist email about 5 minutes ago. Bummed but can't say this wasn't expected as they aren't accepting a lot of people right off the bat.

Says all waitlisted applicants will find out between March and June what their final status is. More waiting...

i tend to be hard on myself, but i potatoed my answer to the easiest question. if u interviewed you can easiy guess which question im referring to. so no i think it went awful

First congrats to all accepted!

Wanted to mention a few things. First, from what I heard, there are lectures that cover strictly content, however those lectures are not mandatory. At Nova, it sounds like the curriculum will be "flipped" from a standard curriculum. What I mean by this is that the lectures will supplement the PBL sessions rather than the other way round.

PBL is being being implemented all across the country, from Harvard all the way down to the new guys, like Carle and Nova. In my undergrad, I worked as someone who was tasked with creating mini-PBL style sessions for students in "weed-out" (chem, bio, physics) courses. In my opinion, I can say that the PBL concept really fosters learning. We found that when students came to our sessions once a week, not only did they end up scoring better on exams, but they also "felt" they learned more. There are a few reasons behind this. First and foremost is the engagement of different parts of your mind, mainly those involved in critical thinking and reasoning. In "standard" curriculums, you are force-fed facts through a tube, asked to learn, memorize and repeat. This works fine for some students and works poorly for others, however IRL many facts are freely available whether through your library or the internet. In my opinion, what you are asked to do as a physician when you see patients is put together pieces of a large human puzzle. In fact, at the free clinic I volunteer at, the head physician never fails to remind me that "90% of medicine is taking an accurate history". Taking pieces of information from the patients history, signs, symptoms, family history, etc, you are asked to sort through information to determine what is important, what info you need to get through tests, and what information is not relevant. Then you must synthesize the information to make a diagnose and treatment plan, all while collaborating with nurses, physicians, family and, most importantly, the patient. Therefore what Nova is attempting to have you do is start this process from day1, through guided learning PBLs to help you learn the comprehensive fundamentals of medicine while creating the proper skills and mindset that will help make you an excellent physician. Thats the goal of pursuing medicine!

Plus everyone says "IDK if PBL is right for me" until they start doing it. At a certain point, I saw my regulars stop coming just to get better grades, but also because it was fun, engaging and dynamic. Its incredibly easy to underestimate how much you more you learn when you engaged, using different modes of learning, and having fun. Everyone is right to be concerned about being the inaugural class, however my concerns do not lie in the curriculum itself.

Again congrats to those accepted. PM me if you want more of my thoughts on this!

Seems like a lot of sdn acceptances today. Congratulations to all those accepted. To all those still waiting, good luck...and stay patient.

Hey 1 question isn't the end of the world. I'm sure you got many other acceptances and lined up! If you were waitlisted with those stats I was probably waitlisted as well

I haven't either. Complete 12/1. Was desperately hoping for a II here, but as each day passes my hope wanes 🙁

Well, I got hit with the waitlist so no drama over whether or not to call after all - but I also got an II to Nova's DO program today! So, I get a second chance to be accepted to Nova outright. 😍

Honestly, I really just want to live down there in that beautiful, warm climate - Nova's DO program ranks higher on my personal list than some of the MD programs I applied to for this reason - so I am beyond psyched to get a chance to interview at Nova again. And at least I know exactly where the Terry building is and where to park already.

Hey, good for you. I hope it all works out!

So, as it's a topic that has been floating around a bit...here's a Facebook group for those who have been accepted. I hope to hear back from admissions about someone there taking over as group administrator, but until then, I suppose the honor system applies (rather than me have to go back and pm details to everyone on this thread who indicated that they had been accepted). Congratulations again!

Has anyone who’s been accepted and tried to submit the matriculation agreement received any confirmation it went through? My screen didn’t change when I clicked submit and I didn’t get a confirmation email or anything

I received an email confirmation from them

The submission link was weird for me as well. I emailed it and got a very nice email from Sandra Moses expressing that she got it and her excitement to welcome me to the class.

I ended up emailing mine to them because I wanted proof that I sent the form in. Like others said, I received an email back from Sandra Moses.

Update to all accepted...Ms.Moses from the admissions office has graciously offered to serve as admin on the class Facebook group. In addition to making it official, she'll be able to vett those added to the group (for those concerned that the honor system might prove insufficient) and serve as a resource for information. Again, congratulations to all those accepted, and good luck to all those awaiting decisions!

Alright guys, I’ve emailed twice and unsuccessfully tried to call Jamie Reid twice now without any confirmation they got my matriculation agreement. Suggestions?

Edit: Jamie Reid confirmed they got it.

Volunteered all day long yesterday, so didnt get the chance to see all the acceptances. Grats guys!

Interviewed on first day and still have not heard back, ehehhe. I am chilling like a villian as they say. I will give it another 3 week and contact the school in march. But as they say, patience is key. I am going to stay as patient as possible.

Hey guys, on MSAR it says classes begin July 02, 2018. But the curriculum sheet we got during the interview shows August as the beginning month. Do any accepted students know the actual start date?

Hopefully,August.
That’s when all the schools I’m accepted to begin and I have commitments through all of July based on that

They haven’t told us a specific date yet, all they said was August. They’re sending us acceptance packages in the mail that should get here in a few weeks that’ll probably have more info about it.

I just received a call from admissions today asking if I was still interested in interviewing at this school. Apparently they emailed me back in the middle of January with an interview invite and I never received it. I checked all my email, my junk email... I have nothing from them. My interview was supposed to be for this upcoming Friday but thankfully she is going to email me some more dates they have in March. I haven't had any problems receiving emails from any other schools or even the previous NSU MD emails about completing my secondary. Did anyone else experience this issue? I am really bummed and I hope that it doesn't effect my application or chances of acceptance because I am interviewing later.
