Did anyone from the 2/23 interview date get an acceptance? Wondering if they’re holding at least a few spots for each interview date...

I don't think they can hold spots for each interview date because all the spots are technically filled until people decline their offers.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think their first initial 50 acceptances were sent out March 15th, so anyone accepted from this point on will be pulled from the waitlist.

I doubt they specifically hold a number of spots per interview date. It seems like they're sending/sent their initial 50 acceptances and then ranking everyone on the waitlist. What I hope they're doing though is finishing all their interviews before going down the waitlist...

Possible, but they started accepting primary applications at the end of October, so they may be exempt from that rule/guideline.

II!!!! For April 6th. Kinda worried though because I live in the Northwest and I am nervous that they will have already sent out most acceptances and I will be wasting a lot of money on this interview
Did you end up interviewing 4/6? Could you provide us with an update if you did, meaning what is admissions telling interviewers now?

I know they mentioned to one interview group that they are only planning to give out 50 acceptances, wait to hear back from all of those people and then pull from the waitlist, but that they are waitlisting (and internally ranking) all interviewees. They were fairly stringent with who got an interview and felt that being a new school they want to leave their options open to find the best people to fill the class once they see how deep in the WL they have to go.

yes I was at the 4/6 interview. They did not give us any new info regarding admissions. All we know is it’s confirmed that 50 went out. You should hear more after the April 30th traffic deadline

I don’t think not having the PBL scenario would necessarily disadvantage your application since obviously it was by no way your fault. It would just be one less measure for them in consideration.

They said the PBL scenario was graded and it functions as a tie-breaker when making admissions decisions.
😱

I feel like I did well on that - I said a lot of stuff - but they said absolutely nothing of the sort to my interview group. Would have been nice to know that!

When I called on the 27th they said about 2 weeks from then
That must mean a decent amount of people have withdrawn acceptances. I was anticipating significant movement after April 30th when commitments have to be made for acceptances. Only one person on this forum has mentioned withdrawing, however. Has anyone else on here withdrawn, or likely to withdraw their acceptance for another acceptance elsewhere?

Just wondering, did Nova ever disclose the range of their applicants' stats? MCAT/GPA

They probably won't disclose anything other than accepted/matriculated students' stats (and they likely won't do so until this class is solidified). Tbh, info on applicant stats doesn't necessarily make sense to release. As with any school, the stats are going to be extremely wide in range. Expect to see total # of applicants, total # of acceptances, and then stats for those accepted.

Thank you for your response. I didn't think I saw any numbers from them but wanted to make sure. I was thinking if they gave a range/average I could compare against the stats of people accepted/interviewed

has anyone else (besides Premed2295) confirmed their acceptance here/ 100% know they're going?

I’m 99% sure I am. The only way I wouldn’t is if scholarships didn’t work out and I got off the waitlist at my next choice which is cheaper than Nova’s non-discounted price.

Was there an interview on 3/2? I would try not to worry too much about waitlist movement. They probably have to accept 100-130 to fill the class, and that’s coming directly from them being in touch with other medical schools across the nation. They know things we don’t know—all we can do is wait.

I am not too confident about 100-130. My state school in washington had its inaugural class this year and accepted 90 for 60 spots and they didn’t even have scholarships. But I agree all we can do is wait and be patient. They may even send some deferred acceptances

But at the end of the day, that’s just one school. There are plenty of other medical schools to collect data from. There are also several Florida medical schools that I’m sure almost every Florida applicant applied to. In addition, there’s a lot to consider if you are thinking about Nova. For example, many applicants may prefer going to a traditional, established lecture-based school opposed to PBL. A lot of students might not really be cut out for PBL, and that’s something every applicant should consider. Nova is a big toss up, and really an experiment for the time being so a lot of people might not feel comfortable committing to that if they have other options.

I'm likely going here as well.

Many of the physicians that I know who are familiar with the area tell me they train great clinicians at Nova! Just gotta be prepared to give the "but its not DO" speech to basically everyone you meet.

Hope to have many of you as possible as potential class mates next fall!

Yes. I interviewed 3/2 and they were basically interviewing us for waitlist (judging by the fact that most people of 2/23 were waitlisted after 5 weeks of their interview and they told 3/23 group that their class was full already). I could be wrong.

I don’t know of anyone that was accepted from 2/23. The last acceptance I know of was from the 2/16 interview. Have you heard anything from your date yet? Because I haven’t...and it’s coming up on that 6 week mark now for you, and 5 week post interview for me. So honestly who knows what’s happening.

Yes. They already sent me an email saying I am waitlisted (yesterday). I didn't bother posting because I thought everybody was getting waitlisted at this point.

I interviewed 2/23 and I have not received any notification of waitlist. I even emailed them to make sure they had my other email address on file because I had problems with the other one receiving their emails. And not even a response to that email. So I have no idea what to think.

My guess would be they’re deciding between giving you an outright acceptance and high up on the waitlist and they’re waiting for all the interviews to be done before finalizing that decision. If so, that’s a pretty good place to be 🙂
Of course, there also might be email error so maybe call them and see if there was any email correspondence you missed?

Hmmm was accepted back in early Feb but still haven't heard anything about a scholarship (even if I don't get one, hopefully they'll inform me of that lol)

Did you get that email on your nsu account about them waiting on scholarships until all the interviews are done and the class is seated as a whole?
