2017-2018 Nova Southeastern University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So my "friend" called NOVA on Thursday and he was told that they weren't anticipating much wailist movement, and that they'll likely take about 2-3 people off at most. Anyone else hear something similar?

I wonder if this means that it’s because they plan on accepting some students from the later interview groups that haven’t been notified yet...

Whenever I feel like I'm being neurotic Ima just refresh page 28 of this thread to remind myself that this is just baseline premed behavior lol. I feel like the "2 - 3 moved from the waitlist max" statement is probably an appropriate assumption to make *before* April 30th. Beyond that, I think 1/3 - 2/3 is definitely more reasonable. So possibly your friend misinterpreted this? There are already several individuals on SDN who publicly declined their acceptance offers, let alone the rest of the population and those who simply haven't made it public. Chin up y'all, stay positive.
He told me that the impression they gave him was that the three would be total waitlist movement. I didn't want to say this before, but he said the lady that picked up had a tone in her voice that was kinda like "you might want to find another place to go, cause we're full." That part is entirely questionable though, as people interpret things differently

There is 2 more weeks until April 30th and some like to feel proud by keeping all of their acceptances until then.

Or, maybe some people keep all their acceptances as long as possible because they are waiting to hear back about some of the endowment scholarships they are eligible for or even directly applied for. Or other reasons...I don't think you can say it's always pride.

Hi Guys, to ease your waitlist worries I'd like to use UNLV as an example. They opened last cycle. 60 seats. Guaranteed full rides for the entire class (not guaranteed at NOVA). And they pulled 23 off the waitlist, that's over 1/3 of the class. So don't worry kids.

My friend just got a second look invite, but never received any correspondence that they had been accepted off the wait list. Has this happened to anyone else?

is it safe to assume that everyone is scored and ranked by now?
they said everyone is ranked when they're put in the waitlist group and that that ranking is changed as they go and review new interview groups. I doubt last week interview's group has already been ranked

It’s possible that they did review us and found that people on the waitlist were better fits at the time the committee met, which I guess is good news for people on the waitlist... But yeah, it’s weird that we haven’t heard back either way.
You would think that they would at least send us a waitlist email though....

Please chill out! We dont know if hes trolling or his friend is trolling him.

Wow I really want to believe the later interview groups have the same chance but if that person really did get moved in waitlist already before all the candidates got reviewed that’s kinda unsettling 🙁

Hey guys Im new here! Had my interview 3/2 and still no contact at all. 2 people I know from 3/2 people got waitlisted. Anyone else from the same interview group on the same boat for wait time? Glad to hear some of you are getting in and even getting full rides!!

I got waitlisted from 3/2 interview group

Have they sent out any denials post II? They did say at 3/9 interview they would accept, waitlist, or reject. But so far I haven’t heard anything about people being rejected, just people hearing back later than usual, and not really sure if that’s necessarily good or bad.

I was told that they'd waitlist everyone this cycle.

I understand it being a new school and all but holy smokes they do not have their stuff together. We’ve all been told 20 different things. This kinda worries me especially in regards to curriculum and rotations
When did you interview? That’s so odd honestly, I wrote down exactly what I was told, and also the website says the same as I was told.
I interviewed 2/2. It might just be the person telling us, as that's what Jamie told us. Maybe someone higher up told you, or they wanted us to think something beforehand that no longer applies

I would assume it doesn’t apply anymore. This is coming from Mr. Pritchett speaking to us, as one of the heads of the school and admissions.

It may be that they reject very few people and those that have been rejected either don't use SDN or choose not to disclose their status. One thing I have noticed is that it seems that they send acceptances out a couple working days before waitlists. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I noticed that as well. Acceptances have been given out 5 weeks post interview, and waitlist roughly 6 weeks post interview recently. But I haven’t heard of someone being accepted after the 2/16 interview date, just waitlists, at least based on SDN data.

PS: every other acceptance I’ve heard of at this point was a waitlist acceptance. Just hoping we get enough of those withdrawals now to fuel the waitlist.

Honestly, compared to what I’ve been hearing about the other new schools (SH and CalMed), Nova seems very well organized in getting a new program started minus the expected hiccups in doing so

For people who have gotten tuition scholarship offers, do you know if it's for all 4 years of med school?

Has anyone (except for that one person who posted about their friend) had any correspondence post WL email?

Lurker here, made an account today. Took three tries but I finally got a hold of them. Their class is currently overbooked, and they do not anticipate taking off the waitlist till mid June, leaving me stuck with a DO acceptance 🙁

Okay every time I have talked to them they have told me something different. Originally they told me they were looking to start taking off like two weeks ago, then when I called last week they said a few weeks, now they say this?
