“I'm also too struggling with the fact that I might have to attend some garbage DO school. How do you all that have been accepted make it through?”

“Also to all that are viewing this thread, there's nothing wrong with having high aspirations. DO schools are almost like a joke to get into in the first place. My interview here was terrible, yet they still accepted me.”

Let me ask you this, why would I be lying? I actually love this school and want to get in here! I'm sorry but I'm just slightly embarrassed to go DO, hence why I want to get in here. You don't have to believe what I said, and that's okay. I just figured that everyone would want to know...

Beggars can't be choosers

Lurker here, made an account today. Took three tries but I finally got a hold of them. Their class is currently overbooked, and they do not anticipate taking off the waitlist till mid June, leaving me stuck with a DO acceptance 🙁
Also if that were true, that leaves me with 0 acceptances, so I have 0 sympathy for you

That's probably because you applied to all top tier schools. Look, I'm just passing information down to everyone. If you noticed, no one else has commented telling me I'm incorrect.

Maybe she just wanted to give you realistic expectations with regards to your spot on the waitlist. But the facebook group has 39 members right now and at least 3 of them are faculty. Now, that doesn't say much, but to me it certainly doesn't say the class is "overbooked".

Okay who did you speak to? I actually spoke to someone on admissions who said waitlist movement should start in a few weeks, around the first week of May. There you go, you’re incorrect.

I spoke to a lady, I believe Jamie. They've gone back on their promise multiple times, so what I got was probably newly updated information. I'm not saying your wrong, but rather they've evolved.

This kind of stuff is why SDN was one of the things I gave up for lent.
Haha I clarified what happened. Long story short, I wasn't really looking at what I was saying nor being clear at what I was trying to get at, so it looked like I switched accounts mid conversation  I probably should get some sleep

Switched accounts???? That's a TOS violation.

What do you guys think the odds are of something changing your waitlist rank at this point?

I just won a major award at work. Like the kind you go to a nice dinner with a dress code and have an official ceremony for. I'm wondering if it would be a waste of time to send an update.

Congrats! Send it, can't hurt.

Can anyone give us some information on their admissions/ WL movement etc that they asked during second look? All of these posts about "calling jamie" etc, are very confusing, and it would be nice to have valid information from people who spoke to faculty during second look.

Yes enough of this second hand info. Someone from second look pls tell us what happened

Not much time was dedicated to the waitlist. Except it was mentioned, albeit briefly, that waitlist movement would happen after traffic day, 4/30, that's when the domino effect starts and settles between mid may to early June. The domino effect referring to getting pulled from a waitlist at your first choice so withdrawing from where your holding your acceptance and someones getting taken off the waitlist to fill the spot you gave up and so on and so forth, yada yada yada...

Also, the contentious topic of scholarships was brought up, they won't all be handed out before traffic day. Everyone does not get one or they do, they just don't know yet. So if someone has multiple offers and hasn't received one, they may choose not to take the risk and withdrawal, going with a safer choice.

If you interviewed early, tuition has increased since my January interview. ~53K instate, ~59k oos.

Final take away, this is going to be a really neat program. The research opportunities seem very interesting and plentiful, especially in the immunotherapy/oncology realm, which is very very exciting. The 4 week required research during 3rd year has been changed to 2 months during the summer after your 1st year, you can do it in your home state if you want and already have a PI.

Scholarship or not, I'm matriculating here. What an exciting thing to be a part of. The faculty and administrators are all really great and motivated. I have a good feeling about this.

See I told you I wasn't lying. That's what I got told on the phone.

Um I mean we'll don't know exactly what they told you over the phone but your statements that "they're overbooked and no movement till mid-June" is quite more alarming and different enough then just "movement will happen after traffic day, mid-May to early June", especially for people where this is their only chance and are facing the possibility of reapplying

The first is a much more hopeless situation, the second is more reasonable and what I would guess the majority of us was thinking of happening anyway

I agree with you completely YJEL

I guess we'll wait and see, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. I guarantee if you call Monday you'll get the same response I did

Not to sound rude, but do you have other MD options?

That said, they said they both do and don’t consider other acceptances. The first answer we got at second look was “no, other MD acceptances don’t factor in” and by the end of his answer they said “well, it’s holistic...” so who knows if other acceptances play a role.

There were a lot of contradictions and vagueness in his answers

I thought it was established earlier that the class is full?
I think they meant "full" in the sense that Nova sent out 50 initial acceptances, but not everyone is going to accept that offer and will withdraw to attend another MD school. Should see some waitlist movement after 4/30 when accepted students have to commit to one school.

I looked back and the other guy or gal said they don't take off the list till June

Yeah but that seems to contradict everything every other person has heard from admissions, including those who attended second look. So there’s no clear answer, but schools that take off the waitlist usually start to do so right after traffic day
