2017-2018 University of Illinois

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i was accepted in late october, has anyone gotten an acceptance packet in the mail?

All mine says is “your application has been forwarded to the admissions committee.” What does this mean? And are you IS?

I am OOS.

From what I've gathered:
-"application forwarded to admissions committee" it is post-II and you are in line to be reviewed for acceptance/wait-list/rejection
-"application forwarded to screening committee" it is pre-II and you are in line to be reviewed for interview/pre-II rejection
-"application under consideration by screening committee" it is pre-II and you are being looked at currently for interview?

Has anyone who has been accepted heard about (or know when we will hear about) campus placement?

I talked to Leila recently and she said most of the students in the first group of acceptance chose Chicago as their first choice, and they will get it... I think I'm in the second batch (acceptance this week) and am thinking there's enough space for Chicago? It's 180 students in chicago vs 55 peoria 55 rockford so im crossing my fingers 🙂

Hopefully it really is first come first serve!

Is there anyone else who interviewed in October who still hasn't heard anything/ their status page hasn't updated?

I looked at last year's thread, and I saw that people who did not have their status page update post-interview were reviewed each month until the committee reached a final decision. The majority of SDNers in this position ended up waitlisted

So, my app was marked as completed at the end of August. It's basically now December and my app status still reads "Your application has been forwarded to the admissions committee". I'm IS and have two other MD acceptances, so I don't think there are any glaring red flags in my app and I was hoping for some love from my state school. At this point in the cycle, should I assume I'm out of the running? I'm not optimistic that there are many IIs left to go around.

I feel the same way. I'm IS and still nothing, even though I was told that I would definitely hear something on November 16th. I tried emailing the admissions committee but they still haven't said anything... feel like I'm not a good candidate since they say around 70% of those who interview get accepted.

Wait, so you haven't had an interview yet?

I'm in the same situation. My application "has been forwarded to the admissions commitee," for 4 months. I tried sending an update about a publication, but that didn't seem to help either. I think the only thing we can do is wait. Congrats on your acceptances though!

Dang, I was just told at my interview that a definite decision would be made by November 16th, so it's a little frustrating.

Hi friends. I just called to inquire about the acceptance packets and second look date. I spoke to a very friendly woman on the phone, and she informed me that the hold-up with the acceptance mailing is that the dean hasn't finished his letter or something like that. But she hopes that those will go out either this week or next week. She wasn't sure about second look, but she'll give me a call back later once she's had a chance to speak with Leila. I'll report back with more specific info.

I think UIC has a new dean if I am not mistaken

Did you ask about when we will find out campus placement?

Does anyone know how strict they are on the 3 professor letter requirement? has anyone been interviewed or accepted with other letter combinations? I have 2 professor letters and 2 MD letters, not sure if this would absolutely disqualify me from getting an II and acceptance.

I had the same issue due to being a nontraditional applicant. I emailed them explaining my situation and they accepted 2 professor letters and the rest from MDs.
Thanks for responding. Have you been invited to interview?

Im in the same boat as you. Still have the status of forwarded to the admissions committee. I wish they'd just reject me instead of this because I assume I dont have much of a chance at this point.

I had a committee letter which included two professors, one JD, and one MD/PhD. i'm not sure if the fact that it was a committee letter negated that requirement but I was accepted.

Ok so I didn't get a call back, but I just called the office. I got a slightly different answer. She said she would look into the second look date and hopefully get back to me. With regards to campus placements/acceptance packets, she said that they're still finalizing things and that it won't get finalized until the next committee meeting, which is some time in December.

Last year's class knew by the end of November...sigh.

II just now!!! Wow... I'm shook. LM 70, IS(ish), ORM, complete early august. WOWOWOWOWOWWOOW. I'm so excited. Dates in early-mid december available.

Congrats! Do you by any chance know what your status was before receiving the II? (Forwarded to the screening committee, under review, etc.)

I had the "your application is under review by the something something committee" status for the longest time.

II today as well, LM ~69, IS, ORM. Just emailed an update letter today actually

Sorry I think I might have asked this question before on this thread... but does anyone know what the qualifications are to be considered an in-state resident? A little about me: born and raised in IL, went to an IL public school for undergrad, worked during undergrad (including the beginning of 2017 tax year) but after graduating in May, I moved to another state for my gap year and have been living out of state for the past 5 months. Does anyone know who to call or where to check if I still qualify for in-state residency? I still have an IL license and I will pay Illinois taxes this year.

I think it all depends on where you listed your primary address on AMCAS. Sounds like you have a good case for being an instate resident, I would call the admissions office. They are pretty friendly.

I just received some emails from UIC housing in Chicago. Does this mean that this is the campus I have been placed at??

I've been receiving them for a month now, but I don't know how they've assigned those emails. Did you go to UIUC by chance?
