This question was asked a long time ago and sort of answered but I'm looking for more. Is there any potential for disaster with the preliminary accreditation status? When will they be accredited and will that affect me as a student somehow? If anyone has any good sources that aren't dense legal mumbo jumbo to share so I can try to understand the process better that'd be lovely!

The school already has preliminary accreditation, which is as much as they can get right now. Every single new school has to do this. I think they have to graduate our first class to eligible for “full accreditation” or whatever.

They’ve done everything the need to do so far, and I wouldn’t worry about it at all. At least I never have. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think it’s really been an issue for new US MD schools to end up losing accreditation.

In summary, don’t be afraid to come here just because it’s newer 😀

Yea, I think the number varies per interview.

Is there a rhyme or rhythm to when decisions come out? Seems like they come out in waves, but has anyone noticed any other patterns? I have a feeling we will get the next wave this upcoming week.

Not sure but it took over 2 months for me to get a decision back.

Thanks for sharing! And I see you got an acceptance too! Your story gives us hope. I wouldn't mind waiting 2 months for an A at all hahahha. Congrats!

Hey everybody! Im interviewing at the end of February and trying to plan my trip. I'm flying in on a thursday, flying out friday after the interview. How did y'all get around? Im thinking of taking the courtesy shuttle to the hotel (which is closer to the airport than the school), uber to NSU friday morning, maybe uber carpool back to the airport afterwards. I've always rented a car in the past, but I'm under 25 and they charge underage fees, was thinking Uber's cheaper. Also, was there a place to store luggage at the interview? Thanks!

I caught a hotel shuttle to the school on the morning of and Ubered to the airport afterwards. Fine either way. You just store your luggage in the big meeting room where everyone convenes, I think. Really no need to rent a car imo.

Congrats!! I rented a car from Turo. I found one that doesn’t charge any underage fees because I am also under 25. I picked it up from the airport for no extra charge and dropped it off there. However, I stayed for multiple days and explored the area a bit. If you’re planning on exploring, try to find a car with no underage fees from Turo. But if you’re only there for a day and don’t see yourself driving around much, it’ll probably be easier for you to Uber honestly. It took me forever to find the parking lot at nova because the map and directions they gave us were pretty outdated. Good luck at your interview!

Does anyone know when financial aid/scholarship information is sent out?

2 months is mercy, I haven’t heard back from my state school which I interviewed for in September. No news is good news right? :dead: Haha

I was just going to say that it took me longer to hear back from my state school!! Hope you hear good news from your state school, friend. And yes, no news is good news :dead: .

2 months...that’s stressful. Hope you get pulled off in a swifter period

Well, I appreciate that, thank you! At times it is stressful, but recently, I have been practicing accepting the things I cannot control. And when I really think about a waitlist, I realize that it doesn't change anything in my life. No finite decision has been made on my app. Keeping my thoughts within this context has helped me focus on other things.

Side note, with my state school I interviewed 11/12 and found out 1/28 that I was put on hold, so NSU notifying me within 2 months was surprising haha.

This is the facebook group for the class of 2024 🙂

When can we expect to hear back with regards to scholarship? I remember during the interview they mentioned how a lot of the scholarships we are eligible for will be e-mailed to us directly, but which ones do we have to actually manually apply for again?
Also congrats to all those accepted! Looking forward to meeting my fellow classmates soon 🙂
And thank you for posting the Facebook Link! The link in the e-mail sent today doesn't seem to work

Just got an II 🙂🙂🙂

However, it falls during spring break and I had a trip planned to Denver with my girlfriend. Anybody know if I can reschedule?

Does anyone have tips to prepare for the group PBL activity?

I don’t have a tip specific to the actual PBL they evaluate you on, but a friend who is in a different school that uses PBL told me that you end up looking bad if you talk the whole time because PBL is testing how well you can work in and LEAD a team. She told me if you can encourage participation, that makes you look good.

Take it with a grain of salt - I’m not sure how true it is- BUT I personally thought that made sense.

I think at the end of the day, whatever you do, don’t be fake. It is so easy to pick up when someone is trying too hard or at unease.

The PBL isn’t graded I believe.

From my interview invitation:
"FORMAT: NSU MD will use a combination of the MMI Multiple Mini-Interview (MMI) and group interview formats. The MMI will consist of 7 stations, each with a different scenario and interviewer who will rate the candidate’s performance. Candidates will have 6 minutes at each station to answer questions regarding the scenario with each interviewer. The interviewers in each of the 7 stations will be completely blind as to information in the candidate’s file.

The group interview will be a 25-minute PBL format interaction.

A brief orientation session will be conducted before the MMI to better familiarize you with the format. You will also be required to sign a confidentiality agreement upon check-in."

The PBL is considered a group interview.

Yeah I just got it right now too. Mostly everyone has been getting waitlisted due to the class size. I'm not sure how much movement they get.

last year they had to un-reject people at the end of the cycle to fill their class, plus seems they played it very careful this year to avoid this from happening again. a WL here should still be a very very good shot at turning into an A

this happened to the DO school, not the MD school I believe.

there was actually a md student in the student panal when I went to interview that said themselves that they were rejected first and had moved to start at another med school and then got accepted at nova all of a sudden and moved back but idk

Oh wow! That's insane, I had no idea. Thanks for the info 🙂

Hello everyone, I'm a M1 at NSU MD. I'm here if you have any questions regarding the program or anything you wanna know.

Hi,
I was wondering if we're allowed to take notes on a notepad for the MMI during interview day?

Thanks

I wonder when movement will happen...late March? late April?

My guess is April 30, early May. It's either April 30th or May 1st where applicants can only hold one acceptance. Once people let go of some of their acceptances, there can be movement.
