anyone aware of the waitlist movement so far?

FYI Just called and found out that Clearwater has a waitlist, but there are still spots in Ft. Lauderdale. And all the interviews are at the main campus. Anyone out there planning on going to the Feb 18 or 20 interviews?
I'll be there the 18th!

Do they notify you for interview invites and give you status updates via email or through their own online portal? The webstar portal I login to only tells you if the requirements have been completed, but it does not give you any status updates.

Interview invites and acceptance got sent via email (they also sent a physical mail as well but came weeks later). Waitlist and rejection would be sent only through snail mail.

Hi guys! So I'm definitely going to be attending the Davie campus and I'm so excited! I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for where to live near campus? I have no idea how to start looking right now. Thanks so much in advance 🙂

Ive been looking on apartmentlist.com or apartments.com! And searching near davie (probs like a 15 min drive max). I also looked at plantation but i made sure to google which parts are good areas and which arent, since some people told me plantation is a little sketchy but it seems the rent is a little cheaper than davie. I hear a lot of people rent places at Parc3400, shalimar, AMLI toscana place!

Hey guys,

I just received an interview invite for the FL campus today. Anyone know if it is for the waitlist? Or do they still have spots open?

Hope to receive one as well soon! What were the dates they offered you to interview?

From my interview pretty recently they said that the Davie campus just filled up. So essentially from now if you get accepted it'll be for the clearwater campus. However, there is a campus waitlist (diff from normal waitlist) that accepted students for clearwater can get on if they wanna go to Davie. Going on this campus waitlist doesn't jeopardize your spot at clearwater so there's no risk and apparently mucho ppl get off the campus waitlist (and also the real one too)

You interview there for both campuses. Then you pick the campus (if spaces are available). Otherwise, if you get in, you automatically go to the campus with space then can apply for waitlist at the other campus...

Currently, there are space at Clearwater. None at Davies (aka FL) at the moment

To those of you who have submitted your full deposit, did you get any sort of follow up/confirmation email? Im assuming I'm still assigned to the campus in my acceptance letter.

Did you get off Davie campus waitlist or you got accepted when the campus is not full? Just trying the grasp the campus waitlist movement...

Just got out on the alternate list after interviewing 4/6. What is the waitlist movement like here?

I just got an interview invite yesterday, but have already put down a deposit for NYIT-COM. I honestly love NYIT (hence putting down a deposit), but I am unsure weather or not to interview at NSU. If anyone has experience with both school please share any comments or thoughts on NSU in general. It would really help my internal dilemma at the moment.

Thank you!!

Yeah i remember seeing the 106,000 price tag on the interview day and was like.......................................................................
How much was tuition? $106,000 a year???

Yeah dude I almost ****ing spit my water out. Thats not tuition but the total cost number most schools give.

tuition was close to 60k for OOS I believe without living costs, and 54k for in-state

Hey! I just accepted an interview invite at NOVA. I already have a deposit down at Touro Middletown and am waitlisted at NYIT. I was also very impressed with NYIT, their campus, curriculum, and name they have built for themself. Honestly, the only reason I’m enticed by NOVA is because it’s in a location that I really would love to be at. Other than than, I don’t know of anything that they have over NYIT

I’m telling you on interview day they give you a sheet that says total cost 104 or 106. I’m not making it up you all go it In your folders.

this is usually an over estimate because they try to give you enough to afford room and board. You also don’t pay for any books and you don’t spend that much on transport and I know cause I live far off campus. Most people I know live around the area in affordable apartments. It’s really not that much lol

Current M3. There were a couple other schools I was accepted to and liked better, but in the end geography won out and I picked NSU because I want to do residency and practice in Florida. There is supposedly a large regional preference effect for residencies, especially with DO grads.

Just to reiterate, they give a generous cost of living. You don’t have to borrow the full amount, though some do (including me) because I didnt want to “live like a poor student”

No for sure and I loved the school. I’m just saying that is the number that’s given on interview day.

We all get the same amount but you don’t have to borrow it all. Some people only borrow the tuition and not the rest.

Well tuition isn't 100k its like 55. That huge number is everything put together including cost of living which really doesn't have to be that high. I went to undergrad in the area and you def don't have to spend that much. I'm not saying the school is cheap, but it doesn't have to be as expensive as many of us are making out.

The school isn’t just pulling this number out of their ass. There’s a reason they give that number. I’m not attacking the school but like that’s the official number they give!! You act as if every school doesn’t give an official cost of attendance.

it is definitely on the higher end, according to their website 2017 graduates had around 275k of debt. This number increases each year 🙁

I was accepted to both NOVA and NYIT, and decided to go to NOVA. Honestly, it was a not a tough decision for me for a few reasons: I want to stay in FL for school and residency, the tuition cost is almost the same for both schools, but the cost of living in Davie or Clearwater is a joke compared to the SUPER high cost of living in NY ( and trust me, I did my research). If I had chosen NYIT, I would definitely have to borrow the entire loan amount and possibly some more. Both schools have good rotation sites and decent reputation. And both are currently going through a curriculum change, so there are equal uncertainties in that aspect. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

**I also did not have a great interview experience at NYIT.

Okay just going to say this because it’s my opinion. This is my opinion only. I interviewed at NYIT and it was by far the worst experience on the interview trail ( n =12) by A MILE. The place looks like a Soviet era depressing death trap. The people couldn’t have give a **** we were there. The students looked depressed. There is nothing to do in westburry. I just honestly withdrew my application the next day. Worst experience ever. My fellow interviewees some of them were in JEANS (I know they got in) some dude whipped out his laptop halfway through everyone was on their phones. It was so unprofessional and honestly shocking. The staff did 0 to get to know any of us. We’re clearly going through the motions. Not one second or that experience made we want to go. I come to nova, they ****ing rolled the red carpet out for us. Joseph sliba spent over an hour getting to know each candidate in the room. He made us laugh and made us feel wanted and welcome. Every Med student was so passionate about being there. My two Med students were with us for 3 hours, answered every question, were honest and kind. The school is beautiful. Fort Lauderdale is awesome. The clinical experiences are incredible. It blew NYIT out of the ****ing water. I came away from my NSU interview SO happy and exited. But that’s just my opinion.

I also interviewed at NYIT COM and I have to agree with you on that one

My best honest advice is to take 20 minutes and read through the thread. The question has been answered probably 50 times (not exaggerating) and that info would be better than me telling you again. LIke that experience would be more comprehensive.

Honestly, it was really smooth. It's very conversational, they just really want to get to know you. My advice is just to relax (easier said than done lol), be yourself and don't be afraid to show how interested you are in their program if it's your top choice! Good luck!!

I have my med school interview for NSU-KPCOM this 2/20; however, due to an emergency, I need to cancel it. Does anyone have a March interview or is 2/20 the last day interview day here?

Some schools way underestimate their costs of living, like some schools in NY want you to live on 20k a year? NSU just happens to way overestimate their COA. While it’s not cheap to live down here, it’s nowhere near some other areas in NE

I’m not arguing if it’s an over estimate or underestimate I love the school. But that’s the number they give!! On Interview day!!

And in 2017 average indebtedness is like 270,000 on their website. That number is insane. And i can only imagine it’s higher as it was increasing every year. Add another 100 k of interest. I’m not trying to **** on nova I loved it. I just want people to be aware of what they’re getting into. People were shocked when I posted that number.

I have a February interview but noticed that there were dates in March open.

for those of you who interviewed how long did it take to hear back?
They typically do post-interview review on the last Tuesday of each month. Acceptances go out via email pretty quickly thereafter, then letters of Alternate list or Rejection soon follow. So it depends on what part of the month you interview and what their decision is.

Mine is exactly one week after the interview. However, according to this thread, it seems like those who interviewed a week before me also got the decision at the same time. Like what ERJunkie said, it depends on what part of the month you got interviewed and the decision.
