2019-2020 UT San Antonio (Long)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For those that got an II today- what day did you transmit?

Transmitted 6/21 and still haven't received a confirmation email. Should I be worried?

I transmitted at the end of May, and myself along with others got the confirmation / under review email on 6/20, almost 3-4 weeks later. So, I wouldn't worry about that aspect.

Dang you're getting interviews everywhere lol. Congrats!

Hahaha thank you! It’s so crazy and I am so excited, this process really defies all logic. Fingers crossed for some love from the rest of my TX schools!! Best of luck everybody

Congrats on the interviews! You’ve been waiting for awhile! I’m a few weeks behind you on transmitting, 6/12! It’s really a stressful process, but it gives you hope when applicants that have been waiting post that they received II! Thanks for sharing your stats.

II today, MD-only. Only dates were 8/23, 8/30, and 9/6.

Was hoping for an MSTP interview at the same time, but I suppose the wait continues.

Does anyone know UTSA interview style? It didn't say anything on the interview invitation email nor could I find anything online that explicitly said it.

It's a traditional interview.

Two 30-min interviews with med school faculty as well as senior medicals students. Interviewers have the entire application.

It's in MSAR

also, for those with II, is there a night before social event for UTSA like there is at some of the other Texas schools? I'm not seeing anything on the portal or on their website but wanted to make sure I'm not just being left out of the loop haha

Do you have to submit a CASPer score before UTSA will consider you for an II? I’ve gotten interviews from two Texas schools that don’t require it but nothing from here or UTMB, submitted 6/24. I take my CASPer on the 20th.

UTMB definitely requires CASPer score before II. UTSA does not specify that, only that you need to take it.

Yes, there was, but they didn't add information about it onto the portal until less than a week before. Unfortunately I already had flights booked and wasn't able to get there in time, so plan ahead that it will be there at 6:30 PM!!!

This was included in an email from UTSA. They don't use CASPer to select for interviews.
Also, you don't submit a CASPer score. CASPer will automatically send it out once it's graded (and they won't tell us the score). They also don't send an email letting us know they sent it so you just have to check their website to find out.

Thank you for your application to the Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. At this time, your application for the 2020 entering class has been received. Please note there is no secondary application for our school.

If you are selected for an interview, you will receive notification via email at the email address listed on your TMDSAS application-so please keep that updated! Interviews will begin in early August and will occur most Fridays through December 2019.

Our review process is ongoing, and applications may be re-reviewed throughout the admissions cycle. This means that you may receive an interview invite long after your application was initially received. We do wait for MCAT scores to be transmitted to us by TMDSAS, before an invitation is sent. While you should be submitting your LORs to TMDSAS as soon as you can, we do not wait for these to offer invitations to interview. Due to the volume of applications that Long School of Medicine receives, we are unable to provide other specific status information over the phone or via email.

Long School of Medicine will be using the CASPer as an additional component of the application to LSOM. This tool will not be used for interview selections. All applicants who are invitied to interview must submit a CASPer score to the Long SOM as close to the date of the interview as possible. Here is the link for more information https://altusassessments.com/discover-casper/, and to register to take the assessment visit https://takecasper.com/.

Any updates that you wish to process should be sent to TMDSAS. We do receive weekly information from TMDSAS, and your updates will be included.
