Once Kira sends you the link to assessment, you can do the KIRA Talent interview anytime on your own schedule within a week of receiving it. It's the group zoom meeting that you get an assigned time for.
ooohh okay that makes sense. thank you!

Congrats!! When were you complete with everything if you don't mind answering?
submitted 5/28, complete 7/2, invited to interview 8/28, kira completed 9/3, group interview 9/14, accepted 9/28. I imagine that as the cycle continues that they'll be more and more delayed with getting back in regards to being complete, invited to interview, and the post interview time though.

Really reassuring to hear because I am DREADING it. Why do you think you did bad? Also, are you IS or OOS?

I'm OOS (california). I felt like I was rambling and didn't give a concise answer. My advice - just jump into your answer and explain your reasoning when its time for yours!

What percentage of those who are interviewed here get accepted? After scheduling my group interview they had me sign up for a swag box. Makes me think they feel pretty confident about those they invite to interview

Does the KIRA need to completed within the week? I received mine on wednesday but I do not feel adequately prepared for it and would love to do it the end of this week 🙁 Advice greatly appreciated 🙁

What is the Zoom session for? Are they asking you more interview questions in a group setting, or are all interview-type questions reserved for Kira? Also how long did it take to get through Kira?

You may want to call the admissions office and ask if it would be okay to take a little bit more time to complete it.

The Zoom session was very relaxed (everyone still wore their suit though) and it was mainly an info session with some faculty and current students. You just had to introduce yourself at the beginning and ask something you were interested in learning more about the school. There were no more interview questions during the zoom meeting.

The assessment itself took like 30 minutes. I spent like 10-15 minutes doing the practice questions though just to get used to talking into the void lol

I remember there was a spreadsheet somewhere here on SDN/reddit that showed post II acceptance rates and it was around 70%. I could be misremembering though.

You should do it when you feel somewhat confident, but of course as early as possible. I think it's safe to say that the 2 week rule applies here (ie get it done within 2 weeks to show you're still eager about the program and not just delaying it). I did mine a few days after getting the invite (so maybe synonymous of end of week for you given that you received it on Wednesday). They probably realize that people are busy and this is obviously non ideal situation. But as Pleaseletmein95 says, you may want to call the admissions office if you feel like you need more time to complete it.

Zoom session is a 1 hour informal meet and greet with the faculty and medical students at DMU. No interview questions are provided. Kira is like 18-20 minutes total and follows similarly as VITA.

Completed Kira 8/28, group session 9/3. When would it be appropriate to reach out for a status update?
The technical waiting period post interview is 4-6 weeks for DMU (they’ve been fast). So probably at 7 weeks if you still haven’t heard anything.

Do they start making decisions before your group interview or do they wait until after the group session before they start making decisions?

How long after completing the Kira assessment should I expect to receive an email allowing me to schedule a group interview?

Information for those on the sub who may want to know (also if someone has gotten accepted and sees my info is wrong, please correct me because this is what I'm operating on so far)

1) DMU has 2 periods to pay a deposit. The first deposit is to hold the seat which is $750.00 and due on December 15th(ie they follow trafficking laws set by AACOMAS where they can't make you put down a deposit before 12/15 for regular decision). The second is another $750.00 due on May 1st.
2) DMU does do a drug check before matriculation and a background check
3) They have a success meeting that has a deadline before the 12/15 deadline (presuming you get accepted before 12/15 at least) where you have a chance to ask questions and they talk about any outstanding requirements you may have
4) You sign an outstanding requirements agreement due at the same time as the first deposit saying you understand
5) You don't have to press any buttons/do anything to affirm that you plan to attend DMU besides putting down the first deposit.

Yup that's completely right! I'm so glad about #5 haha, I emailed admissions just to double check that all I had to do was pay my deposit and those other things and the lady was so nice about my neuroticism.

could any MS3s or MS4s speak about the rotation sites at DMU?
- the quality of the sites
- preceptor or ward-based
- if the assigned sites are year-long, so you don’t have to constantly move around once you transition to a new specialty
- how competitive it is to stay in Des Moines for rotations, specifically Mercy Medical Center

not sure if i missed it, but did anyone call/email to confirm what they mean by submitting kira within a week? is it 7 days, the end of the business week? just been busy w work and want to make sure i have time to prep

Hoping that they really do emphasize the local GPA. However whatever happens will happen!

I wish they did a live interview. I have no idea how I did lol.

I don't feel like I did spectacularly and I got the A... like I was obviously nervous and didn't articulate my thoughts superrrr well and rambled haha.

I hope for those of you that have a higher local they do. Mine brought my sGPA below 3.0 so I was very sad haha.

You still got that A though haha. It brings mine above a 3.5 from below a 3.0

Yeah, so that makes me think that for people on the lower side of GPAs, they look to see if the local GPA helps them. In my case, I have a very good reason my local was lower than my normal. So I think they definitely look at local in the context of the whole application, which is great. Like, they'll see your massive upward trend.

I hope so! I would love to have the opportunity to interview at this school.

Can anyone give me some context on what KIRA is? Format, # questions, etc.

How long did it take between completing Kira and getting the email to set up your live session? I know it says "within a week" but I was wondering if it was faster for anyone

For me, it was next day. But towards the later end of the week, it takes them longer to send the email, so you might get it on monday.
