Does anyone know if meharry is p/f?

It looks like they have letter grades according to the 2021-2022 academic catalog.

In waves how? Around what time frame are rejection waves ?
Just buckle in and relax. They don’t give out specific dates. If you’re that stressed you can look at previous threads to see when waves went out but there’s no set dates. They usually don’t do silent rejections unless it’s the very end of the cycle and the class is already full. If you haven’t gotten a rejection then you’re still in the running for an acceptance, II, or secondary even if you submitted your app like 6 months ago and haven’t heard anything. Some people get invited and acceptances within a week of the semester starting. Some people even get accepted within the first couple days of orientation. One person got the last seat in the class and got accepted the day of our second orientation.

Well yes definitely, thats not what i meant. All medical schools are very challenging but i meant on average when compared to other MD schools.

Hi!
For those who have been accepted, how long did it take for your portal to update?
I got the A by email and it took about a week after for the portal to change for me to pay the deposit, but the A came in before thanksgiving break so that is also factored in.

I’ve been seeing things on reddit about school giving “free” things to students like littmann or a jacket m. So can any current students attest if meharry does so or not? Just curious

So I guess I shouldn't bother refreshing my portal every 30 minutes expecting to see a decision? 🤣

I deleted my message since it brought so much controversy but i meant that even during the student interviews the students said they had more free time compared to friends at other schools… why does everyone try to make everything a matter of race? And just for the information i am also black?
More free time? Definitely not. Our classes are “mandatory”. Technically we’re supposed to go but you can skip certain ones if you want. We have class from 8-5pm 3 days a week, the 4th day is focused on clincal skills and the 5th day is a half day for lecture and a weekly quiz. So I’m curious who said that to you. Unless it was an exiting 4th year it wouldn’t make sense at all. Our curriculum does not have a lot of free time and it certainly isn’t easy. We even had to fight to get a spring break or smaller breaks between certain units added to our schedule cause so many of us are burnt out beyond belief. Once we start clerkships halfway through 2nd year there aren’t even any breaks at all, all the way through 3rd year except for maybe Christmas. So unless you’re skipping every lecture class you can there’s no way you have a lot of free time.

Oh okay, thank you so much! Congratulations on your acceptance!! I got the A email early Monday afternoon but was still scheduled for my student interview that same evening so I thought it was sent by accident. My portal finally updated today so it's legit, haha. I was checking every 20 minutes like a psycho lol

Congrats. Just to clarify, you got an acceptance email this Mon 12/12, before your final interview?

Very true. I just wanted to add a quick perspective as someone that did not attend lecture. I felt they were mostly a waste of time and I was more efficient studying on my own. So yes, I would agree that there is more free time if you don't go to lecture. I felt like my weeks were what I wanted them to be and I really enjoyed that. But free just means I had almost total control of my schedule, not that I had time to chill and watch netflix haha. I still studied 12ish hours a day 6 days/week if not more. Just my 2 cents!

Hey guys, current M1 here. You can private message me or ask on here any questions and I'll do my best to respond in a timely manner. Regarding probation status, I can't speak on that because that incident occurred because of a few years' review before the current M1s time. Other than that, good luck to all who are currently applying. ( :
Would you happen to know what it means on the secondary app when asking for our "disposition" in the Application History section?

What this means, if it's in a question about being a reapplicant, is:
Were you accepted, waitlisted, or rejected?

Talked with a friend and wanted to share this with y’all here.
I think the idea of being surrounded by more black individuals in medicine is breath taking. I hope to get the opportunity, because no matter where you go you have to be happy. My friend who goes to Emory Med, was happy because of the name. But she was very unhappy and miserable being one of 4 black students in her class. So I go to say, don’t just look at the name of the school. You don’t need anymore validation, go where makes you happy and don’t name chase. Because I promise no one will care about where you went, when your saving a patients lives. Of course every school is great, but you will be spending the next 4 years there! So be wise in your decision!
I digress
just a disclaimer. Emory definitely has more than 4 black students in their class. wouldn't be spreading that misinformation to ppl.

I got a secondary in October... Is it wrong for me to submit it now? Been super busy the last few months but would love to attend. I know its usually late to submit secondaries during this time but I think this may be an exception since they sent the secondaries so late ?

The issue here is that you got the secondary in october, sending it almost 3 months later, and at the end of the cycle tells them that they were not at all a priority and that will be a big blackbox.... most schools will not take secondaries send more than 2 weeks after old serious, with some wiggle room for a month. That said 3 months is a huge red flag for them.
