2024-2025 Baylor

Curious where you verified information for the first two bullet points because as per my interview day informational this cycle in August, Dean Vallejo said that your campus match does take into account the order of preference you are ranked but the catch is they have to create balanced classes (race, gender, age, etc.) which is the reason why they don’t just choose the exact top ~180 for Houston and thus have to pick and choose to balance the class. Thus prematch offers do give very high preference for campus, not guaranteed but I would be surprised if many didn’t get their chosen campus.
my family member understood it to be exactly what you have said based on their campus preview day. however, they received a written confirmation that said what i last posted. although the information between the preview day and this written confirmation is different, the result is the same: namely that pre-matches have a very high likelihood of receiving their chosen campus.

due to the confusing nature of this topic, i would definitely recommend verifying this info for yourself if possible.

Will Baylor release information regarding scholarships before the match for those of us who received pre-match offers?

Hi guys, I signed up for a BCM Open House this Saturday, but no info has been sent out yet via email.

To those of you who have attended a BCM Open House, is it more of an informal thing or should I be getting an email soon?
Thanks!

Im also signed up for this Saturday and I got an email with more info. Maybe reach out and ask?

Is this for the Houston or Temple campus? I haven’t received any communication for Temple.

what a mess tbh, i remember them saying it was random during my interview session, imma call them tonight and ask lol

I was wondering this as well. I was told during my call that I would hear about scholarship information during the month of December but have not heard anything yet. When I called yesterday to ask about it I was told that "it's rolling so you should find out sometime before May" which made me go huh?!🤨

Has anyone heard anything? I think it's pretty important to know pre-match so that we can make our rank lists accordingly.

I was hoping to write a Letter of Interest to Baylor or provide some updates, but on their website it says "If or when you receive an invitation to interview, updates to your application will not be accepted. Those who have interviewed may send "letters of intent" through the application system, but not updates to their application." In my portal it still shows a way to send updates and additional info. Has anyone done this/have any advice? I interviewed early Sept. and am OOS, but am not ready to send a Letter of Intent.

They have stated pretty clearly what they want to hear from you, so the wise move is to follow that guidance.
As an OOS applicant, treat Baylor like the rest of your AMCAS schools. If they offer you admission go by their instructions on when to indicate your acceptance and use the AAMC traffic rules for your final selection.

Is it unprofessional to send a letter of intent, then not end up attending that school due to financial aid or other factors?

i'm under the vague impression that lots of schools send scholarships after the match. i don't understand it either, but i'm pretty sure it's not uncommon. i heard (can't remember where) one possible reason could be a delay in funding information from their government (for state schools).

It's my opinion that sometimes we have to make decisions with incomplete information in our hands.
If scholarships are the one and only reason you will choose one school over another, then don't send a letter of intent now without knowing that information.
TMDSAS schools are very close in tuition cost, why not choose your school based on its fit to your goals?
Add on my usual line that in Texas we state our intent by ranking a school #1 for Match Day.

Completely understandable. Another TMDSAS school offered me a very generous scholarship that I would be silly to turn down if no other schools offer me aid. That being said, if cost was not a factor I would definitely choose Baylor. As an OOS student, I don't have the Match to provide my intent, hence wondering about sending a letter.

Interesting. I wonder why I was told that I would receive information in December then? Kinda frustrating to hear two different things :/

@wysdoc (anyone else can respond as well with insight)
Dr. Cable (Associate Dean of Admissions) both texted me and called me to inform me of my acceptance. Do you think it would be appropriate to reach out via cell phone to him to ask for clarification on the information he told me about scholarships?

More professional to ask your question via email, or ask the financial aid office if they know whether scholarship offers will be made before, or after Match Day.

i just meant that i think various schools do offer aid after match (which seems odd) ... but various schools also offer aid before match (several posts this cycle already about applicants receiving aid offers) as well. i think both are options, and a school might even do both options in one cycle.

NYU is calling!

Hi! I’m signed up for the open house tomorrow in Houston, but never received any information via email. Could someone send me any information or let me know if there is any pertinent information I need to know?

got some stuff cleared up today during my interview.

1) no more prematches. yep. everyone gotta wait till the match now lol
2) more about campus selection. 'random' but not really. those who wanna go to temple (give their pref. in the campus match as Temple) will be placed in Temple. otherwise, those placed in Temple is random. they accept appeals pretty much always for the outlined reasons on their website. if not, there is an alternate list and they make offers based on how youre ranked.
3) more statistics from the class of 2028. 5576 applied. 1156 invited to interview. 342 offers made. 226 class size.

nice

Interesting...I wonder how post-II A rate differs between IS and OOS.

This thread relayed a doc based on the 2021 app cycle and Baylor post-II A rate for TX residents was 44.23%.

Those numbers would n't be same anymore if 1156 total candidates were interviewed for 342 admissions. It translates to about 30%

More current numbers (MSAR)
In-state 949 interviews 187 matriculated
OOS 175 interviews 39 matriculated

(I know these are matriculant numbers not acceptance offers, it's what's available)

949+175 = 1124
187+39 = 226
Looks like they were off on interviews by 32 in MSAR or the number given out. We do have the admissions numbers total of 342 but not the split between IS and OOS.

MSAR says there were 13 (10 OOS, 3 IS) MD/PhD matriculants, which aligns with the information provided on the BCM MSTP page. Do we know if the total matriculant and interview counts include MSTP people? (I guess same question goes for the 5(?) BS/MD matriculants).

Anyone have the link for the Temple campus tour this Wednesday. I put it on my schedule after my interview, but haven’t gotten anything about it. I even emailed two weeks ago, but no response :/

Houstonians comin up with a super dub over the Chargers yesterday - that’s H’town for u!

no more prematches? That is interesting. They had prematches in Jan in the previous cycles.

Did anyone else pre-II not get an R? Does that mean I’m backup? If so I’m honored!

can't tell if this is sarcasm or not but unfortunately, baylor has completed interviews for this cycle. great luck on the rest of your interviews and congrats on the prematch!

Would all OOS be WL from this point on, judging from past years' threads?
It’s hard for us to know what goes on behind the scenes, but since there’s a limit to the number of OOS students per year, they will make offers up to the limit and then take some more off the WL later in the spring when accepted folks leave Baylor for other schools

We're in this one together my friend ❤️ I am hoping (based on absolutely no evidence) that since Dean Vallejo said there would be no more prematches, we will get some more OOS A's on Match Day
