+ 1 OOS II on 10/30 !!!! SMH for checking e-mail a day late and all the interview slots being taken. I e-mailed them and I hope they get back to me about scheduling

Don’t stress about it! They add new dates every week and if you reached out to Molly, she’ll send you a reminder when new dates are added

Does anyone know if the CSS profile is required, or if not completing it will negatively affect someone's chances? Not super psyched about spending my time/money doing it after I spent so much on secondaries already and when I probably won't even get an II

A number of schools use the CSS anyway, FWIW. Takes like 10-15 minutes

It is not required for admissions purposes. HOWEVER, it is required to be considered for their financial aid (aka free tuition/full COA)

***This is true only if you have your parents income and asset info at hand. Takes a lot longer if you need to get all that info from them.
I suppose it takes a lot longer to fill out any paperwork if you don't have the requisite info

But, that info isn't needed up front. From my filling it out, and according to Hopkin's website, they ask for that info further down the line. You can very much fill out the form to completion without having all your parents data on hand. Submission really did take 10-15 min

IIRC it does cost money to apply to it and I'm feeling pretty jaded about throwing more money at the admissions process 😀 but I guess it's good to know that it only takes 10-15 minutes even without that information on hand

That's totally fair. IIRC I think it was $20-25, and I justified it as just getting it out of the way before other schools request it.

One more drop in the bucket (bleed me dry!!)

When I filled it out all of the parental information was required in order to have a complete form, and the correction process is extremely painstaking (I had to go through it, put in some parental info incorrectly) so make sure you have your parents tax information on hand!!

wonderful! yet another thing to do knowing that I'm going to get ghosted by this school and rejected in may

Anyone know how to go about the CSS as an independent student? I’m non-trad and basically everything else has automatically considers me independent for a number of years.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a wife, kid, and own a home, but it still required all of my parent info lol

My understanding is that you have to request an exemption. And that, in most cases, it requires extenuating circumstances beyond simply being independent (in contrast to FAFSA, etc.).

Being financially independent won't really suffice. There is a process involved, and it requires approval

IIRC exemptions are available but I think only under special circumstances (like no living parents, etc). If there's a way you can get your parents' info, then you have to do it I think

I'm pretty sure that's right. Someone had explained it to me at length a while back, but the short version is that exemption from including parental information is a pretty high bar and is rarely granted (parents deceased, severe circumstances, etc.).

hoping they get to late august submissions soon but theyre still mostly in july and early aug😭😭

Cycletrack suggests that they're massively behind schedule this year? Is this reliable?

Does anyone know if there’s a link/list of medical schools that require CSS profile? Currently I’m looking through the list but it’s not specific to medical schools and it’s very painstaking. Thought I’d ask in case!

do they all have this nov 15 deadline that hopkins does??

I also wondered this because I didn’t have these tax documents yet (complicated situation, and I thought I had until next year), and this is what their financial aid office said:

“If you were to miss the November 15th deadline, we encourage you to submit your CSS Profile and tax materials as soon as possible to be considered for institutional scholarships. While priority consideration is given to those who meet the deadline, eligible late applicants may still receive aid on a funds-available basis.”

So now I’m running around trying to get everything in by tomorrow because that “may” made it sound less like a soft deadline and more like a medium deadline to me :/ idk tho
