2025-2026 Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone knows whether we can be grandfathered into grad plus loan given the start date is before July?
Based on my understanding of the OBBB to be grandfathered in, you must be enrolled in your current program and have borrowed at least one federal Direct Loan for that program before July 1, 2026.

Hello peeps, I have my interview with MCW next week and I am wondering if those of you guys who have interviewed already have any advice. I know the exact questions are off the table but still any general advice on to approach the questions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks a bunch.

Hey! First of all, congrats on the interview, that’s huge. I interviewed earlier in the cycle and was A, and I genuinely had a great experience. Everyone was very welcoming and kind. I mainly used SDN to prepare and found that being yourself goes a long way, they really want to get a sense of your personality and how you think. Best of luck, you’ve got this!

While I was looking at the interview instruction (And the interview update form), I realized that I uploaded my original update letter under the pre-interview update tab instead of application update tab. Should I still upload my pre-interview update form?

can any current students offer any advice or insight into why they picked this school over others?
firstly want to preface with the fact that the majority of med school applicants do not get to choose, they either get 1 or 0 acceptances. im incredibly grateful to have had choices, but even if you dont, that doesnt make you any "less than." we all end up at the same place in the end!! 🙂

theres a lot of things that drew me to MCW. the biggest pull for me was their association with Froedtert, a large academic medical campus with a level 1 trauma center and genuinely huge amounts of research/mentorship opportunities. most of the other programs i got into did not have an associated academic medical center. froedtert is well known/respected in the midwest, but even more importantly, knowing that the majority of my rotations, shadowing opportunities, preceptorship, etc would all be on the same campus was a big plus -- less commuting, less figuring out new systems, etc. also big into the curriculum. P/F + hybrid/optional class is huge QOL improver, both because it helps curate a collaborative/chill student culture but also because having that flexibility makes everything soooo easy. milwaukee was also the biggest city of the schools i got accepted to and I knew i wanted to have, like, a life outside of school with things to do hahahaha.

Do anyone have any information on the post interview acceptance rate for MCW besides admit.org and cycle track? The only other information I can find is a spreadsheet from 2021 that say MCW have an 80% post II acceptance rate which I don’t quite believe.

All anecdotes I've heard so far indicate MCW has a fairly high post-II acceptance rate. Even looking at the MSAR for last year, they interviewed 500 OOS students and accepted 135. Given MCW is a mid-rank private school, it would be fair to assume a 30-40% matriculation rate for OOS students. So a rough 70-80% Post-II acceptance rate actually makes sense if you include waitlist positions.

By the way, we will unfortunately not be grandfathered in prior to BBB so we will be capped at 200k lifetime direct unsub for those who are wondering.

In the MCW Connect? Or secondary portal? I am struggling to find this lol, thank you for letting me know!
The chat link in decision making resources page towards the bottom. Then when you go in group me, there is different sub chats for the regional campuses.

Interesting, this is all I have. I already accepted my offer letter and paid the deposit, just don’t have the decision making resources unless I’m misunderstanding where to find this.
