Could anyone share their experience with the group activity portion? I want to go to an in-person interview, but money is a bit tight right now. Will virtual group activity as meaningful as in-person one? Thank you!
We sign an NDA so i cant give info. Sorry

Sorry, I didn't make my question clear. What I'm wondering is if you think being virtual will be equally meaningful as in person. I'm not asking about the specific activity, I. But just general opinion if virtual one will be at a disadvantage, especially the group activity. Thank you!

I don't see how virtual would really make a difference besides maybe interacting with your group members may be slightly different. Should basically be the same. Not sure how much the group activity has weight on your acceptance or not but we had a fun time with it maybe one of the current students can weigh in but you should be fine virtual.

I hope us from 9/16 hear something Friday, because I'm definitely not losing my mind checking my portal every 2 hours.

Hello Fellow 9/16'ers. Did they say how long it would take to get back to anyone? I just recall them saying a few weeks.

Can someone answer a few questions for me?
1. When does Noorda expect to receive the ability for students to receive federal loans?
2. What do the third and fourth year clinical rotations look like? From there website it looks like all of the third year rotations are within the Salt Lake area. Is that true? I understand that's not common for DO schools and just wanted to confirm! Thank you in advance for anyones help.

1st year here so I can’t speak much for the rotations. As for loans tho, they’ve been transparent with us and told us they’d ideally like to have federal loans by next school year (2025-2026) but it may be the following school year (2026-2027) depending on how quick or slow the process is

Does Noorda accept letter of updates post interview?

I don’t recall them mentioning that..I would assume you can send it to the admissions email and they will “accept” it, but it may not affect your decision if you have already interviewed.

I spoke with a 3rd year about this, it sounds like most of their required clerkships are working 35min of campus. However, there were some difficulties securing rotation sites early on but this seems to be improving yearly. As far as electives go during 4th year, I’m unsure.

OOS A also!!!! Interviewed 9/16! Is it really over…?
Congrats!!! Did they tell you that you'd know 2-3 weeks after the interview because it seems you got a decision a little under 2 weeks?

so the only kind of letters you send after interview is letter of intent/ interest?

They did tell us that, so I was pleasantly surprised that I received my decision earlier. I have been checking my email multiple times per day since my interview just in case, but there was really no indication we would receive a decision earlier than two weeks.

I think the most important letter to send after an interview is a thank you letter. However, there is little to suggest this affects your decision.

wonder if they are sending them out by group (a,b,c)

If you have a significant update to your application, an update letter is great. They review the waitlist at various points in the cycle, and if you get a publication, new clinical experience, finish coursework, it may affect what‘s said about your app during discussions. You can also send a letter of intent if you intend to attend should you receive an acceptance. Neither of these letters are meaningless. They both carry weight, assuming your update letter is an actual update worth making.

I got the dreaded waitlist, which was prob due to my sub-500 MCAT - all good though. Hopefully some movement before February if not I'll attend somewhere else.
sorry to hear that..Getting on the WL early is huge though! I wish you the best!

appreciate it guys, I don't know how Noorda does WL though it may be a rank system which may not matter early or not, loved the school though! Wish you guys the best out there!

Last year I was put on the waitlist in October and then pulled off of it in December after the first payment deadline had passed. I’m not quite sure what influences their decision to pull people off of it prior to later in the cycle, but just know that there’s hope!

I agree with you completely. I understood the question to mean immediately after an interview before a decision has been made. Noorda was pretty clear that their timeline was 2-3 weeks for a decision. It seems within that timeline there wouldn’t be a whole lot of information to send in that would affect their decision up to that point. This would of course be different if updates were sent after being on the WL.

Yeah I’m not entirely sure either. You could reach out and request clarification possibly? Either way with the nature of rolling admission I have to believe there is some sort of advantage with getting on the WL early.

Last cycle, I think Noorda went through the bulk of its waitlist. Some got pulled in December, most got pulled around March-May. This is the nature of most DO schools, especially new ones. The waitlist to A conversion is pretty good for Noorda at this point in time. Maybe in 5 years the waitlist will be a bit more scary, but for right now, I wouldn’t let the waitlist get you down.

I appreciate the love, Noorda fam! It makes me feel better. My unfortunate side to the waitlist is having a family to move—a house to sell and a new house to buy out in Utah—so I would need adequate time to accomplish that. Hopefully, movement, if I'm lucky, in December will allow time for that, and I can join you, lovely people! I'm going to the DO faire here in my city this weekend (9/28) Noorda is there I may ask them. If anyone has anything else to ask them let me know ill do it on your behalf.

I have a feeling you will know pretty soon especially because you interviewed fairly early. As people get into other DO or MD programs, NOORDA will have waitlist movement. The first day people can hear from MD schools is October 15th, I anticipate Movement will start in November.
