anyone know a “timeframe” of when we can expect a call/email? I’m pretty tired of constantly checking my phone 😅

Just got an email about my app being held for continued review before II. Any idea on what this means?

Same here! Is a “hold” just a soft rejection or is there any potential here

“We are pleased to report that your application has been reviewed and that the Admissions Committee is impressed with everything you have already accomplished. As a result, we are holding your application for continued review.”

For specific verbiage but I got the email as well.

Based on last year’s holds it seems like they turned into Rs
From last years: “+1 for the hold email on 11/29. Cross referencing the past few cycles it looked like at least a handful of applicants got an interview and eventual acceptances after being put on hold. However, they sent out hold emails much earlier last year, so no clue if that is still the same for this cycle unfortunately.”

I don’t want to hear any of y’all doubting your chances here. It ain’t over till it’s over. You haven’t received the official rejection notice, nor is it the end of June 2025. Keep your head up.
I love the positivity - you’re gonna make a great MD classmate for some lucky folks (hopefully myself included). I’m trying to stay positive but I couldn’t help but start gathering new letters…..and other application changing things 😅.

It would be worth talking to your admissions counselor and Ms. Stearman about this. They will be able to provide the most meaningful guidance on how to navigate a challenging situation like what you are facing with. I don’t think any one of us would be able to reasonably advise on what would be the best choice for you.
I shot her an email yesterday despite the previous message saying "we welcome application update request emails in February". I am staying hopeful but obviously getting your app in this late in the cycle is tough. Not all of my stats are great for USUHS anyway but having been a medic for ten years and twice deployed would be worth enough I hoped.

Hi everyone, long time lurker here but just made an account. Since everyone asks: accepted like 10/30, interviewed first week of October, complete 8/16. submitted 7/17.

Anyway, I hear there’s a GroupMe? I’d like to join. Thank you!
i think the link is in the earlier parts of this thread

Just got correspondence DOD medically disqualified me and I need a waiver now… Am I cooked?
I’m sorry you’re going through that. Hope you can get that waiver through. How did you find out that you were medically disqualified? Did you get an email or do we have to keep checking the DODMETS portal? How long after the status changed to Complete, did you get the notification? I’m sorry about all the questions and good luck!

I found out everything through DOD correspondence emails. However I got the disqualification after the initial medical exam and a remedial medical test. What others said above is completely accurate as I got an email today to initiate the waiver process and now am undergoing those tasks. Additionally, I was told I didn't meet the height/weight requirements but was able to resolve the issue by passing the body fat percentage test.

Hey Everyone! This is a last stitched effort but I am desperate. I am in bethesda for the tour tomorrow and the hotel I booked will not let me check in because I am not 21. Anyone have any solutions to this? Or any reccomendations of where to try and stay? Anything would be appreciated.

OOS WL to army :/ this is my 3rd WL but I have heard USU has better movement than most schools 🙏🏻
They usually do! We will see, again it is variable and some years there is more movement than others. Sometimes there isn’t a lot of movement so keep your options open!

What branch?
Army. I'm active duty, too, so there’s no second or third choice branch.

We’ll see how much WL movement we get this year, but I’m thinking it’ll be a bit less with this being the first ED year.

Why I didn’t do ED is beyond me…lessons learned!

There might be less movement due to ED that’s true, however remember that many regular applicants do get medically DQ or end up going to another school so remain patient. Unless 100% of the class is ED there is still some time!

when i visited they stated that they gave 40-50 slots to ED

For those in the waitlist, I spoke to a previous Dean of Admissions and these are his words:
"You are in a very good position! They take anywhere from 80-100 people from the waitlist each year. The committee only fills half of the class at this point in the year and uses a robust waitlist to create the class"
Waitlist at USUHS is still a great outcome, so remain positive. I hope I see you all in the Fall. Will make sure to shave both my beard and my head haha.
