I would say so. I don't have the most amount of service hours but very meaningful/leadership experiences that I was able to speak upon in my secondary responses and connect to opportunities at WSU that I hope to be involved with

That’s awesome!! You got this! Did you have your interview yet?

Not yet, but based on other peoples feedback it appears to be a very applicant-friendly interview. Best of luck with everything!
Hi,
Could you elaborate on this? What makes the interview very applicant-friendly?

Hi,
If there are any current or former Wayne State medical students on this page, would you be open to answering some questions about your experience at this school? Thank you!

Do you all think that going to this on-ramp webinar would affect my chances at getting an interview? Like do they factor demonstrated interest into these decisions?

This is probably the last year that I’ll be doing this, but I graduated with the class of 2024 and I’ll gladly answer questions about the clinical program, scholarly concentrations, research, and life in Detroit.
I completed my pre-clinical training during CoVID so I’m not able to answer any questions about the preclinical program.

How is the campus life/vibe? My pre-med mentor who interviewed last year wasn't too sad about her WL because she felt the campus and area weren't the best.

Hi! Did my interview today and learned a lot about the school. What is life like in Detroit?

My application status shows “ready for review”. Does this change to under review or something when they actually review your app?

Midtown is a very nice, safe neighborhood to be in. There are lots of restaurants (such as pie sci pizza). There’s also a Whole Foods near campus and the entire neighborhood is patrolled by Wayne State police, which makes it much safer than the rest of Detroit. Scott Hall might not be the nicest building around, but It has several different spaces available to study in and there’s a nice student lounge that I never used. There is also a dedicated medical student gym at Scott Hall and several other relaxation spaces such as a meditation room and a music room.

Detroit is a major city. It has a vibrant food scene with an especially strong focus on African food and Middle Eastern food. If you’re looking for entertainment, there are several major museums available and you get free or deeply discounted access to them with your Wayne state student ID. Windsor Ontario is right next-door, they have a casino and some additional entertainment options that Detroit does not have. If you’re interested in hiking there quite a few nice state parks in the suburbs surrounding Detroit.
Like a lot of big cities, Detroit has its own share of unsafe neighborhoods. As long as you take basic safety precautions, you’ll be fine.

Hi can you talk a bit about the scholarly concentrations? Are they mandatory?

Anyone not receive a link for the welcome session for tomorrow's AM track interviews?

Edit: Came in at 11:50pm. Don't be worried if you don't see it the day before!

Got an invite to tour the campus in September, only available to interviewees. Interesting, but I’m not even accepted yet.
+1. Is it ok if we don’t go to the tour? It would require me missing classes, flying, booking a hotel etc. I just hope it doesn’t reflect that I am not interested in the school - even though I am.

I mean, many applicants are school. They should understand. Maybe send them an email thanking them for the invitation and that you hope to visit when availability allows.
