2024-2025 Western Michigan (Stryker) Secondary Essay Prompts:
This school has a second phase after they have reviewed your primary & secondary: Some of you will get a brief phone interview, and depending on how that goes, you may/may not go on to the official interview.
“We will continue to invite applicants (roughly 800) for a phone interview on a rolling basis until the end of January and your application will be reviewed at each admissions committee meeting throughout the cycle. Our virtual interviews begin Friday, October 4th and will conclude Friday, March 14th."

Character limit for each is 2000

1) Please explain both of the following:
1) The specific reason(s) you have chosen to apply to WMed.
2) How you will utilize the unique features of WMed's mission, vision, and curriculum to achieve your career goals.

2) Describe how you add to the cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the medical profession and what you bring to the practice of medicine - your values, skills, talents, and life experiences.

3) WMed Re-Applicants Only: Describe the changes to your application from previous cycles - include academics, experiences, and/or personal attributes.

5) Optional: Please explain any connection you have to Southwest Michigan.

6) Optional: Is there any additional information not included elsewhere in your application you would like the admissions committee to know?

Good luck to all applying!

Is anyone having issues with the application payment? I paid the fee but the portal still shows as not paid even though I see the charge on my card.

I always wait a day or two before submitting so these weird glitches don't happen. Take an extra day, folks; it's so early in the cycle.

Can anyone share the prompts?

Got an email saying "Your application has moved into the experiences review step in the application review process"

Submitted 7/3/24

Is western michigans phone interview the same as an interview invitation? Or do they do a phone interview and then a regular interview?

They phone interview ~800 applicants, then from that, they formally interview ~400 applicants.

OOS Pre-II R; do they interview mostly in-state?
did you get an email before your R email saying that your application has moved past the experiences review stage and is now "under consideration for a phone interview"?
