Has anyone accepted to SCM heard from admissions about merit scholarships? An email went out saying some of us would be contacted if we are selected as finalists for the SCM merit scholarships, but I haven't heard anything

during the tour/interview day they said they will be releasing those around feb 19 which is also around when 'plan to enroll' opens on AMCAS.

does anyone know when scholarship offers went out last year? this year they said that they'd send them out by Feb 19th since that's the Plan to Enroll date

Hey! I’ve been accepted into OU and plan on attending but I had a few questions for current students or anyone else that knows the answer. Does OU do in house or NBME exams? Also, does OU provide and resources for Step studying?

yes OU uses NBME exams for block finals (main), some case based learning courses/seminars in the new curriculum have in house. yes OU provides a course for step 1, uworld in the first year, and more unofficial/official materials im assuming. they also use scholarrx bricks which is like a textbook that kind of follows step 1 structure.

Hi, is anyone else trying to join the reapplication workshop scheduled for today? I am a bit confused and thought there was an event that started at 1 pm, and then you have a one on one meeting afterwards or is it just the one on one meeting?

I am having the same issue. Was under the impression there was a workshop presentation and then a 1:1 meeting after.

Also having the same problem, it was stated in the invitation that there is a group presentation before your one on one

Yeah I just saw their message. Didn't the last year reapp workshop have a presentation?

275 on waitlist this year. last year there were 390, of which 70 were accepted off the waitlist. Currently, 3 people have been accepted off the waitlist
Wow, that is still a lot. I really do not understand why they keep waitlisting so many people. They should keep it down to around 130 so that rejected applicants can focus on other schools or plan ahead the reapplication process.

literally. a WL seems like just another soft R like last year's cycle

when should we expect the most WL movement?

That’s crazy to have 390 on WL for last year. Out of 600 or so candidates who interviewed, that means they barely rejected like 40-50 of them? The WL has to have at least a teeny bit more worth than that. It just helps to understand what the next step should be rather than being dragged around on false hope.

At least they have less this year, but yeah I agree. 275 is crazy

I think it depends how many they have already accepted. I think one of the problems last year was over accepting.
But on the other side just because some plan to enroll OU might not be their first choice and are waiting on their first choice to call before April commit to enroll. Although some have accepted OU they might have accepted their first choice somewhere else and not backed out yet. I am in the same boat I am in plan to enroll to my top 2 schools and have to April 30 to make my choice. It’s all a waiting game for schools just as it is for students.

isn’t OU deadline for commit to enroll May 10?

out of curiosity, does anyone know how OU-SCM ranks students? Based off what I've been told, they interview you and see if you are a good fit for community medicine but I wonder if it's the same ranking process as OU-COM

From what I pieced together, they have an overall rank list (60% interview, 40% GPA/MCAT, MCAT is more than GPA) but SCM can get people off the waitlist without them getting into OKC based on their own waitlist/preference. I got that from speaking with admissions & current students who were WL'd last year. Very well could be wrong though!

Where are the WL numbers posted? Went to the reapplicant workshop Mar 4th and these 390 & 275 WL Numbers were never talked about or presented to us, current students and faculty did not have any information when I asked them about the size of the WL. *Did learn from current students that most if not all of the WL calls will go out in May*

I asked the admissions lady directly after meeting with the person 1 on 1 during the post interview workshop

That’s the average for medical school WL because of the constant rolling in and out admissions.

What exactly is “all waitlist candidates will be notified monthly of their current status?” Are we getting an email from them that we are still on it or not?

looks like it. Son received the same today as well. Looks like they've begun accepting off waitlist.

Do they make calls over spring break?

Do they make calls over spring break?
I guess they could, it’s all about how many back off WL to open seats. With that since the Commit to Enroll isn’t until the end of April the WL will probably not start moving until mid April thru May…just going by last years movement.

accepted off the WL for the SCM track about an hour ago 🥲
I have committed elsewhere, but am also on the WL for SCM, could I ask your stats as my interview went really well 😊

If the aamc commit to enroll function opens on April 30, do you guys think that the waitlist will get significantly shortened because people who have been accepted to OU and want to commit somewhere else will have to withdraw their acceptance, and people who are waitlisted but also have been accepted somewhere else will also have to withdraw their waitlist?

Makes sense to me!

Does anyone have any intel on how many people have gotten off already?
