Comer do you know the number of applicants who were invited for interviews and what percentage of them got accepted? Thanks.

nope, but I do know that in 2012 the class size increased to about 173-176 students (173 or 176 figures were named during our presentations) from 161 or something like that.

Does anyone know the likelihood of receiving an interview at both Midwestern schools (AZCOM and CCOM)? I received an interview at AZCOM but CCOM is my #1!

The same as any two other unrelated schools. I'd say if one thinks you're good enough, the other very well could, as well.

UGH I've been banging my head against the wall for two days trying to come up with something for the second secondary application essay. Its so infuriating. As annoying as they are I can understand the "Why do you want to attend XX-COM" questions, but "Why should you be accepted into this year's class?" Plus having to make a CV, do they even read the primary application?

I've been staring at this stupid 1500 character essay and am completely stuck. For two days I haven't been able to write a word. I know we're supposed to write about what makes us stand out but I'm not really sure. Everything I start to come up with, like intellight caring blah blah blah is going to be the same load of **** as every other premed.

I guess i'm just looking for a little inspiration, as this essay is the only thing keeping me from submitting my secondary.

I know what you mean, the same answer can work for both of those questions. But maybe you should just focus on different things for each question. For the one that asks why you want to attend CCOM, focus on the things you know about the school. Say something about Chicago and how its a great city, talk about osteopathic medicine and why its right for you, read up on CCOM's history and see if you find anything in there that interests you.

For the question that asks why they should accept you, you can focus more on your own qualities, and why you think you would make a good physician.

I'm sure you'll get over the hump. Good luck!

Yeah I already did the why CCOM question. I talked about location yeah but also about the schedule they have and the list of awesome elective classes they offer. Studying their website makes me wanna go there even more.

Still though for focusing on my own qualities, like I said I have trouble coming up with stuff that I don't feel like everyone else will say. I read the question and see "What makes you different from all the other nerdy ass annoying premeds sending us 75$ for the privilage of writing essays?", and I have trouble coming up with a unique response.

How does it sound if I start off an essay saying something pretty much like that? For example

I have been thinking long and hard about differentiating myself from other applicants. I am sure that all of the applicants who have made it this far are intelligent and hard working...

Gah now I ended up writing a pretty good little essay, but its 2000 characters :bang:. I don't know how I'm going to trim 500 characters out of it.

I am from Michigan but I lived in Chicago all summer. CCOM is one of my top school choices and I really want to get invited for an interview there. I just submitted my secondary application and I am complete as of August 25th. It practically killing me to wait to see if I got an interview or not! I am obsessively checking my email, haha. The anxiety of waiting is really the worst part of the whole process I think because its all out of my hands now. Is there anything else I can do to help insure I will get an interview?

Do any of you who received interviews mind letting us know when you received your secondary, when you submitted your secondary, when you were complete, and when your interview is? 🙂 Thank you!!

My MDapps should have that info.

Paul, let us educate and train you to become the osteopathic physician that you envision! Become a part of our proud legacy and rich tradition! Become a part of CCOM today!

Almost makes it sound like they've accepted me into CCOM doesn't it? 😀

I'm interviewing there on 9/29... anyone else? SUPER EXCITED!!! 🙂

I just got an interview invite today and am interviewing Oct. 6th - I'm sooooooo excited! Anyone else on the 6th??

I'm really hoping I get an interview at CCOM. One of those schools I'm pulling for and all these invites today makes me check my email even more.

Awesome! See you there... 😛

Have you gone to their website to check status? I never got an email from them.

Got my invite today! Interview 10/3 - could have picked the 23rd but that's when I'm leaving for the AZCOM interview! Good luck everyone!

Congratulations for those of you that have gotten your interview invites!! But when were you complete by??

I was completed 8/29 ... but seriously don't fret if you haven't heard anything yet. This is still REALLY early for the application cycle!

Also: Has anyone heard about what the interview is like?

I interviewed at AZCOM last year and was waitlisted. I think their interviews are pretty similar. There is a doctor, a student, and someone on the admissions staff in the room with you and I think they go for like 45 min or something they give you a tour of the school and lunch. It was a really nice day they put together except my interview wasn't until after lunch so I had all day to be nervous about it, lol. They were all very nice there though, nobody was out to stress you out, they did ask some interesting questions though.

ive been complete since 8/1...why haven't i heard anything from them? it seems like most of you are hearing within a week or two.

I guess no one on SDN is interviewing this coming Monday? It's the first day of interviews. I wonder if that's a bad thing or not 😕

I feel you! I was complete on 8/1 also, and when I spoke to an adcom in mid-august, like the 19th, she told me my application had already been reviewed but I have not heard anything. Most likely they are waiting b/c my mCAT is so low.....I wonder when they will let us know our status!

good to see im not alone. they should really let us know something so we can focus our attention elsewhere if need be.

First day of interviews?! Come on Hypnix, I would be pumped. You are going to set the standard for all the rest to come. And you know what they say, the first and last are usually the ones to stick out in a person's mind. You shall be remembered, my friend.

I pity those that have to interview on day 2 and follow in your footsteps. Like me.

I had my recommendations sent on monday, and CCOM hasn't updated my status. However, AZCOM, which is also part of midwestern, updated my file.

So when do you think i should call/email them about it? I feel like such a tool, since its only been a few days, but i'd really like to attend ccom.

Haha I had the same thoughts. I'd wait two weeks before being concerned, as mine took nearly that long, and I was complete a while back. You can call, but they'll tell you to wait a few more days. I would know. 😉

can a current student or anyone who knows a lot abt CCOM tell me more about the school. pros and cons, lecture style, block exam or not, rotation sites (advantages and disadvantages), some unque things abt CCOM that other schools dont have. Reading the catalog (top left) should help find some unique characteristics. Some schools' don't help much, but I like CCOM's electives and course descriptions.

I would like to know the above info as well. Another thing that i would like to know more about is the student run clinic. There's a website, but it looks like it hasn't been updated in a while. Is that still going?

When you say go to the website to check status do you check interview scheduling to see if you were invited for an interview?

For all of those who have been invited, did you receive your invite email at like 1am or something? Just curious...

I am interviewing on the September 16th, anybody else on that date?

Hi 🙂
Most of us have been researching and obsessing over CCOM. I feel that every time I come up with a question, I either google for the answer or find it on this website. So ... with regards to having questions for the interview panel, has anyone thought of something? I have a specific question about my hoped-for profession but other than that I have nothing ... any help would be great.

19 more days until the interview!!!

Hi all! First time posting on SDN...CCOM is my top choice! I just got all my documents in today. I know I'm not super early, but do you guys think I'll be ok getting an interview? My stats are ok! Hopefully I'll be meeting you all very soon! 🙂

You're not really early, but you're certainly not late; I wouldn't worry about it. Hope to meet you too!
