Congrats to all of you who got acceptances! That is so exciting 🙂.

Does anyone know how CCOM generally ranks compared to other osteopathic schools? or how the students typically do on their boards?

Well and well. 😀

I don't have a source for board scores at the moment, but someone else could probably cite one before I have time to find one.

Compared to other DO schools? There are no DO rankings and it's impossible to objectively answer. Search around for opinions, visit schools, and compare them during interviews.

Interviewed at KCUMB and was accepted and am interviewing at CCOM 10/14. Anyone have an opinion about those 2 schools?

In too via status page. Hooray!
YAYYYY i m so happy for everyone that got accepted... good luck to everyone else in the application or interview process 🙂 and hope u get into the school that you want to get into to 🙂

Both are excellent well established schools that open all the doors you could ask for. Probably the biggest difference is going to be location as well as rotation sites. At CCOM I know you do most of your rotations right there in Chicago. KCOM would have to send you to other places for at least some of your rotations just because of the city size its located in. I'm not sure exactly where they send their students. Thats probably a question better asked in the KCOM discussion forum to the students who have interviewed there this season or for their current students.😀

Congrats everyone who got in!!!!!! Can anyone by chance remember the names of some of the popular apartment complexes for students that are close to the school?

How much is the deposit? Is it $100? Or are they only refunding $100 of the $1000 if we decide to take another offer?

Well the total deposit is $1000. However there are a couple things that go into the refund agreement. If you change your mind within 3 days (I think thats it) then they will refund you the full amount. However past that 3 days they will only refund you $100. And if you wait until its really close to class starting then I think they don't refund you any of it. But if your unsure of it then take advantage of the fact that the deposit for us isn't due until December 15th. Decisions, decisions....🙂

I see. Thanks for the replies. I do remember the Director saying we had until December 15 to make a decision, but the status page mentions nothing about making a decision by then. I just didn't want to lose the offer because I am so happy right now.

Login --> Accepted Student Checklist

At the top, it gives the due date, as well as tells you what you still need to turn in to be matriculation ready.

Hmmm I know what you mean. I noticed there was a selection on the agreement page of accept but pay later. I wonder if we have to "accept" in a certain time frame but we are just allowed to postpone payment until Dec 15th?

KCUMB and KCOM are different schools !! 😉

Actually it says QUIT and Pay Later. They won't let you accept the agreement til you pay, so you can wait on both until 12/15.

Doh! Did not even bother going there. I was just excited 🙂

Oooooooo good call chocolate bear! Guess that answers that question.🙂

I'm so inquisitive because I'm wondering how an AZCOM acceptance would be displayed, without first accepting the CCOM agreement (if I'm so lucky). 😉

Chocolate Bear, do you have an office job too? You are always all over these forums.

I've been wondering the same thing! I think it will auto populate to be like the application fee page where the two schools are both shown. At least I hope so, because I don't want to have to wait for snail mail.

Anyone actually get an email or phone call from CCOM regarding their acceptance? I know the statuses are updated through the matriculation agreement but I was just curious?

CCOM seems to be very friendly and welcoming.
I added the school to the AAMCOMAS. received the secondary app as soon as the primary application was verified, and an email with the reasons I should consider the school before I submitted the secondary app.

I think the rest of the schools should be like CCOM! 🙂

man, I've yet to hear back from CCOM. I submitted AZCOM and CCOM together, got an interview from AZCOM and am waitlisted, but no love from CCOM (which I would go to in a heart beat because it's closer to MI). Anyone else take this long to hear back?

Yea, I haven't heard back from CCOM yet either, but they only received all my material on September 20th. Still, would have thought I had heard by now, I have already had 2 interviews and have another one scheduled in a month. CCOM is one of my top schools, and I am very anxious to hear from them.

I'm in the same boat! It's been almost 3 wks since I have been complete. 🙁

Got the official acceptance letter today 😀

same here! I just got an interview from AZCOM and Im waiting for CCOM. I was complete around 9/10. Im wondering what is takin so long....Id rather go to CCOM cuz Im from the midwest but AZCOM is really nice too

Wow Im glad its not just taking forever for me to hear back from them, i was a little worried. Seems like they might miss out on some qualified applicants by not scheduling interviews very quickly

would it be a good idea to send them a letter, further expressing my interest in osteopathic medicine (specifically at CCOM)? I know that I pretty much did this in the secondary app but I am still waiting on hearing back...

You said you were complete around 3 weeks ago. I'd try to occupy my mind and not send them any additional materials at this point, unless I had actually accomplished something that wasn't in my primary/secondary. Waiting sucks--we all know the feeling.

I just spoke to a friend of mine whos a 3rd year at CCOM and he said it took 1.5 months for them to get back to him....so I guess we just need to be patient!

I have been complete except for my D.O. letter since 08/25 or so, and then sent my D.O. letter around 09/25. I received an invite to interview by 09/30 around there. I have been accepted to some other schools, but I want to be challenged and feel that CCOM will challenge me more, and offer more experience in the Chicago area. I don't know whether to spend more money to go to my interview, or just accept the DMU or KCUMB acceptance. Anyone who interviewed at CCOM want to chime in? Maybe you all interviewed at similar schools that I did? Anyways, I would appreciate it.

😱 i would think any med school will be challenging.........

I'm pretty sure you'll have your hands full where ever you go. I certainly wouldn't make that a deciding factor.
