Hello all,

I know there have been a lot of threads about this, and I've read most of them. I've been accepted into both CCOM and NYCOM, but I still can't put my finger on which is right for me.

I'm from New York, but I want to practice in Florida (I have some family there too). I grew up five miles from NYIT (and I could save a ton of money by living home at least for M1), but I am concerned that NYCOM matches are predominantly in the northeast. I've lived my whole life on the northeast and I do not want to practice medicine in New York (where most matches are) if I am able. On the flip side, I can't seem to find CCOMs match lists at all -- and I don't know if they have an alumni basis in Florida that could help me down the stretch or not. I understand that both schools are good choices and I think I'd be happy at either or, I just can't seem to figure out which school would be better for what I am looking for. (I know location isn't THAT important, but it really boils down to that in this decision for me because I really do like both schools a lot.)

If anyone could offer some advice that would be wonderful.

Best,
Emmit

I just found this handy little tool on the portal a couple weeks ago.

This looks great, can you post a link where I can find this?

It's on the portal. I don't know if students accepted to CCOM have access to it, but current students do.

A bit off topic, but I also live around 5 miles from NYCOM and have an interview Tuesday! What were your stats if you don't mind me asking? Congrats on both acceptances!

First of all, congratulations. Both are competitive schools and you can't go wrong with both.
I interviewed at both and really liked CCOM. It has a smaller class size than NYIT, MUCH better rotations, and better ties with the community.
HOWEVER, the tuition is a HUGE problem. In my humble opinion, it doesn't justify the experience.
For that reason, I'd say NYITCOM
