I'm loading the Uhaul today. Everything seems like it's in shambles. I have so much to do today and tomorrow before I leave and drive to school arriving at my apt that I have never seen at 4am. My stomach hurts so bad and I've already thrown up once today. I'm not handling this moving stress well AT ALL.

I'm still waiting for my mental breakdown about moving and starting school. I suspect it will be next week when my best friend goes back home.
Otherwise though we've been super productive and things are already starting to feel normal. Got really nice couches off craigslist today so we now finally have someplace to sit!

My school actually sent out this information packet awhile ago saying it was totally normal to have a nervous breakdown the first few weeks of school. That worried me a little bit!

It's a lot of big changes for everyone - even those who aren't moving long distances and leaving behind all that is loved and familiar. Just remember that if you need to talk to someone, do it. There's no shame in needing someone to listen 👍

Agreed. Also remember that your classmates aren't just going through vet school with you. A good majority of them have also probably moved and left loved ones or things behind, often times they are the best to talk with because they really DO understand and are most likely feeling the same way.

I'm leaving to go to Europe in about 1/2 an hour. I'm all packed for my trip, as well as for moving to school 12 hours after I get back. I'm not used to having my crap together....I must be forgetting something. 😕

Three days ago I broke up with my boyfriend of 2 years who was planning on moving with me to vet school and spending the rest of his life with me. I broke his heart.

Made it back from Maine and into my new house. 🙂
Got the doors changed out so I could put in pet doors for my dogs/cats and got my washer dryer hooked up. Living room and my bedroom is somewhat situated and everything else shoved into the guest bed for a later date in time. Glad that's mostly over with. The humidity and mosquitos did not make it easy. 👎

I moved about two weeks ago! It's been kinda lonely though. Wish my roomie told me before the day we moved in that she wasn't actually planning on staying here for 2.5 more weeks 🙁 It is nice that I've got everything the way I want it and she said she didn't mind where any of the furniture/artwork/kitchen stuff went when she came up for a day.

I've really lucked out because my best friend from home has been out with me and is leaving today plus roomie, another girl I've been taking to, and all our bigs are here. I figured I was going to be really lonely, but I lucked out. Then again we'll see how I feel when my friend leaves today.

Just helped a fellow classmate move in. I moved at the start of the summer for unrelated reasons...I don't know how y'all end-of-summer movers are able to start school and unpack at the same time! I still have stuff to deal with and put away. Can we all just agree that moving sucks?

I did move, just not to school yet. 😛 Moved with my parents to a new house. I think my room is still the only one that's 100% unpacked; there's tons of boxes in the living room area. I am NOT looking forward to getting my stuff from upstairs that I need to bring to BR...it was totally clear to that corner in the back before all the stuff from our old house came!

I now have my new Ohio Driver's license, voter's registration, Buck ID and Vet School ID. Excited to start my new journey but it was kind of sad when the BMV guy said he was going to shred my PA license and I couldn't get it back 🙁

🙂 I did. It was actually pretty rough lol. The 10 hour drive became a 15 hour drive but we made it. Truck was unloaded. I was a mess when my mom left. And now I am trying to get unpacked.

I felt the same way when I couldn't get my IN one back. I knew they'd have to keep it, but it was still sad. Congrats on getting all of that taken care of! I just have my Buck ID and Vet School ID left to get, and I will get on that after I officially move into my apartment this Friday! My husband has already started his job, so he and most of my stuff are already there, but now I finally get to stay too! Can't wait!

I was wondering though, at my UG, our student ID was meant to be kinda private because they used it for things like posting grades or confirming our identity at the business office and whatnot. Isn't it a little unsafe to be putting up pics of your id and driver's license on facebook?

AFAIK, we only use our ID's as swipe cards for getting in and out of buildings/hospitals and for ID purposes (we're supposed to wear them at all times). Our grades are posted online, through Carmen, so no one else can see them. As far as people posting their licenses...that's up to them.

ugggh yes! The first one wasn't too awful. I think I had a headache, sore arm, kinda tired/out of it. The 2nd one I had a horrible headache, sore arm, burning at injection site, hives on my chest, nausea, fatigue, sore joints in my arms and legs. 3rd was like the 2nd one, but a little worse. I was pretty much useless for about 24 hours after the 2nd and 3rd shot.

Strangely I had very mild side effects and I'm a huge weakling that typically gets bad skin reactions. I had minor neck pain and stiffness after the second and third, more so after the third due to updating my tetanus too. I have noticed I've been tired this week (the week after the third) maybe its related?

Did anyone take Benadryl afterwards and did it help? I'm having to get my vaccines during classes and I would love to minimize the ill effects.

I've never heard of anyone taking benadryl with it. Sorry 🙁 I don't think it's an allergic reaction, persay, just your body reacting to the antigens in the vaccine so I'm not sure it would help.

Yeah not so sure about Benadryl 😕 I got a bad headache after my first shot. I took 800mg of ibuprofen before the next two and had no problems.

We give benadryl and metacam (NSAID) to patients with a history of vaccine reactions prior to vaccination. Don't know about humans, though.

I would stick with ibuprofen, since the symptoms (for me) were muscle aches, fever, headache, etc. (edited for DVMD 😉)Mine was that night/next day though, not a week after...huh.

The whole point of vaccination is to initiate an immune response... to stimulate T cells, B cells, the vaccine/needle entering the skin itself will cause mast cells to break and macrophages to be damaged releasing histamines and other cytokines. Fever, muscle ache, etc are all symptoms of this immune response to the vaccine. If there is too great a response an anti-histamine is going to be what lessens the intensity, an anti-inflammatory will only treat the side effects from the vaccine. Personally, I would not take the anti-histamine unless you are having a serious reaction and if that is the case, you should see a doctor. Take an anti-inflammatory for the side effects... to lessen any fever or muscle soreness, if that is needed.

Louisiana does that too. I just got my license changed to my North Shore address (not for school, my parents' new house). At least I actually got seen this time.
Also, I still have to get my rabies vaccines at LSU and I'm really nervous about it.
