I think this is actually the first time in my life I have cumulative finals and an entire week of them as well. I'm a solid B student right now but I wouldn't be surprised if that changes after this :laugh:.

Crammed for everything. Fairly similar to LIS above, if it was a big test I might start a day or two before the night before. But there were more than a couple times I hadn't even watched the lectures for a test until the day before. I like studying in noisy active spaces so the bar or mediterranean place down the road were great. I'm a good test taker and yeah can usually narrow down multiple choices to 50/50 even if I didn't particularly know the material. Knowing big concepts and correctly applying them was more important to me than tiny details and could usually scrounge me a solid B. Anatomy and the stupid bacT/viro/parasit minutia was rough.

With that said, definitely near the bottom of my class. But I had lots of fun in vet school and kept my sanity well intact, so consider it a win.
 
Doing some quick last-minute cramming for this anatomy practical final. Trying to remember all of the different fibers for the trigeminal and facial nerve branches is making me want to... +pissed+

I have been up until midnight and awake at 5:30 AM for the past 4 days studying for this damn test. I just hope that it was worth it for my grade's sake.

Wasn't pretty but I passed anatomy! Such a relief. Now just to pass histo....
In other news, officially done with the semester tomorrow at 10am!:soexcited:
 
I'm jealous of all you guys almost done! I still have 4 finals (behavior, anatomy written/practical, histology written/practical, and radiology). Can't wait until this time next week and then the following 3 weeks off!

Yes definitely backwards. I got some weird looks when I said I was taking the 70 to STL. Like someone literally said to me "we don't do that here."
 
My studying in vet school was usually at a sports bar or coffee shop, with either a 4 shot espresso drink or a long island iced tea, depending on the time of day and the proximity to the exam (even I would not drink the morning of an exam....but the night before was fair game).

First final tomorrow for me, and it's anatomy. I've studied my ass off for this the last three weeks, so hopefully it'll go okay. Then need to start studying tomorrow for micro on Monday. And somewhere in there need to study for phys and surgery the next day....

I'm going to have no life until next Wednesday. It's going to be fun 😀

Mon - Micro/Immuno
Tue - Anatomy
Thur - Histo
Fri - Neuro

Can't wait until next week is over!

Is the vet school on a different schedule, or has this whole week been a lie? I've been looking forward to the copious parking that will be available when everyone's gone next week.

It's been a lie 😛

Next week is finals. But I think everyone only has one final each day so there still should be lots of parking most of the day!

Dang it. I knew this though. I have a final next week and I couldn't get anyone to cover because they all have finals, too. I can't believe I forgot. 🙁

I just did poorly on an exam for a class that is suppose to be the easy "joke" class that everyone gets an A in. I dont know the final outcome but I know for sure I missed enough answers to lower my grade and now I've lost my motivation to study for all my other exams and they are all the difficult ones. I know its so stupid, I wish I didnt have to deal with a mental battle on top of finals. I just feel like an idiot that the class i get the lowest grade in is suppose to be the easy one. And then I think if I cant handle this minor no big deal how the hell am I going to handle when I made a mistake in the future and an animal suffers for it.

Mistakes will always be made. It is how we recover that is key. Best sports players and successful people in the world do well because they shake off the failures and use them to drive forward. Hang in there. Don't let the moment overwhelm you. 👍

I'm definitely in the "screw it, I'm getting pizza and wings for dinner" stage of my life right now.
 
Decided to take nap, would start to study afterwards. Woke up, feel sick. Yayyyy.

I mean I don't think I did any of that during finals so that seems like a great accomplishment to me (I also just tried to spell finals "phinals" I don't think my brain has recovered yet)

I feel like that's how my whole semester was.
 
Histo final is on Monday, anatomy lecture Tuesday, nutrition on Wednesday, and radiology on Thursday... I have all the reason in the world to be studying and cramming right now, but I just. Can't. Focus. Urgh. I wouldn't care so much if my grades in all but one of those classes weren't borderline. All I can think about is how I can even expect to pass when I can't bring myself to study because my mind immediately drifts off and starts running at 100 mph through all of the worst possible scenarios. I've been trying all day but can't motivate myself to actually do it. I'm on the verge of tears because I am so frustrated at myself for not getting over this and just getting ish done like I know that I need to.

Give yourself a good, guilt-free half hour break. Like, do something you really enjoy, and try to put studying from your mind. Hopefully that will help you recharge a bit, and then try doing pomodoros. 25 minutes of absolute focus, then 5 minute break (or 30/10 if the 5 minute break isnt long enought for you). After 4 of those take a 20-30 minute break. It's the only way I can get myself to focus when I really don't want to. Hope it helps if you try it, you can do this <3

Do you exercise?

Go for a walk/run. this sounds anxiety fueled and exercise is a good way to beat that out 🙂
