Same. I also really do hope to make some news friends in the process. I understand there will be so much of our time spent on school work but I would love some friends to blow off some steam with when we have the free time.

Really looking forward to leaving the pre-meds behind. They populate every corner of my uni and they're just so snooty lol

Also possibly getting a pupper. Told my boyfriend that I don't want a ring if he proposes - a dog would be perf for me

Ermmm I'm not exactly sure atm because I don't know if I'll be in grad school or vet school. On the vet side, I'll be stoked to attend vet school outside of the US. It'll be exciting to see vet med from a view point outside of what I've been taught in undergrad. It would also help me with my interpersonal interactions with various people that would help with potential future clients. I've always loved to learn so that's another aspect that I'm thrilled about

What about your PhD? What would you be looking forward to about that?

Yeah I'm looking forward to meeting my classmates and making some friends with the same interests as me. My husband and I will be long distance for the first couple of years so I'll definitely be looking for some people to hang out with. Also just looking forward to learning so much new stuff. 🙂

I feel you!! If I don't get off the waitlist at my IS, I will be moving without my SO for the first couple years while he continues his current work project and gets our house ready for renting. I will no doubt miss him dearly, but I hope some meeting some classmates will help ease the pain.

Oooo well learning again and being able to do research fulltime/as a job. Still assist with the care of animals but from a distance. That's why I'm a little hesitant with vet school, I've been a little removed from the vet med world since I've started research and don't trust myslef as much. My addition of grad school to the plan has also reduced my anxiety so far but ask me that on Thursday when I take my cell bio test. I'll also like staying in the US and reduced COL compared to Dublin. Oh and keeping Lottie with me

Definitely meeting new classmates and making some new friends. Also, Im really looking forward to reconnected with several friends from my Maters program that got in as well. Now that I've graduated, I haven't got to hang out with people that much.

Thank you! I really hope you and your husband are able to find some joy in these first two years until you are reunited!! Just think how involved in your studies you can be. 🙂 That's what I'm telling myself anyway!

Let me join the LDR club!

I don't think my SO and I will be able to stay together for the next couple of years too, because the area around my IS has no career opportunities for him. Currently waitlisted at an OOS school that would be the perfect place for him to find something. 🙁

To those in the LDR club:

It sucks, but it's doable. My fiance and I dated in HS and were/are long distance for all four years of undergrad, only seeing each other over winter and spring breaks. Our wedding is now the end of May! There's a chance. Don't give up on love for distance, even with veterinary school!

Both Tufts and UGA, sadly enough! Have you decided to stay on the Tufts waitlist or are you going to fully accept your offer to Purdue?

Fingers crossed for all of us lonely c/o 2021!! At least we'll be dealing with cute and cuddly animals...right?

Haha yes hopefully the animals help.

I'm pretty sure I'm just going to accept my spot at Purdue. My husband has been out of town for the last 2 months and we haven't been able to talk on the phone (besides texts) so I'm just waiting to sit down and talk with him about it before I officially make my decision.
 
To those in the LDR club, I feel your pain. My fiancé and I have been long distance for most of our 4 years together and will continue to be so during all of vet school probably. We'll be getting married next June, but thankfully he's only 2 hours away so it's not too bad.

Also, on a more fun note, does anyone have any plans for this summer before vet school starts? My family and I are going to Ft Lauderdale in June for a vacation. 4 days of relaxing on the beach. Our first big family vacation in 15 years! 🙂
 
Besides just to be in vet school, I'm excited to be with like minded people and to be in a place where I think I will feel more at home! I'm from a small town and I haven't meshed well into my undergrad and the town it's in. However, when I visited K-State, I felt so at home and loved the town so I'm really excited for that.

Since I'm on the quarter system currently, I'll only have a month and a half before I will be moving to Kansas. I'm planning on just relaxing at home and will hopefully fit some camping trips and baseball games in before I move! I also need to figure out everything for my move since I'll be going about halfway across the country lol

I'm just looking forward to Spring break and finishing out the semester strong. I'm going to APVMA symposium this weekend at NC State, then going to Florida to see my grandparents over Spring break. Working hard to at least gets A's and B's. Then I'll be looking for a full time job to earn some cash this summer. Definitely looking forward to vet school, but hearing how tough it is has me a little nervous with keeping up with the amount of material.
 
There's a lot of things I'm excited about, but this one's kinda weird...

I'm really excited to finally be in the competition and see how I stack up against other vet students. My major has like 5% pre-vet people, so I'm really interested to see how well I can do in vet school. I'm a competitive person, academically, so I'm ready for some new competition hahaha. :laugh:

Omg.

In all seriousness. It. Does. Not. Matter. The person that gets a 95 on exams may just well be a way crappier vet than the one that gets 80s. I'm not kidding. The tippy top student in my class, and many of the other top students, can't get internships or they are struggling to find jobs.

Um, I strongly advise to not be competing against your vet school classmates. You need to work together and lean on one another, not compete with each other. Once you get to vet school, the goal should be to support one another.

Finally going on our honeymoon! We postponed it after we got married, and this is probably going to be the last time we have enough $$ to take a big vacation haha

Yeah that's something I'm looking forward to and kind of nervous about! I really hope my class gets along well and we all support each other!

For real. Dont be the person who gets a 90 and is pissed that wasn't the highest score. You're all smart. Just do your best and don't worry how you compare to everyone else.

crud. that's not quite what I meant. I meant more of the lines of competing with myself. I'm really really supportive of my classmates. idk how to phrase it. agh.

Not everyone will like everyone. That's OK. As long as everyone treats each other with respect then it'll be fine.

You'll find your group that works for you. Whether it's 10 people or 1.

And sometimes, you may need to study different subjects with different people. But it'll all work out.
