Class of 2021 . . . how ya doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Stop antagonizing the older class egg.

It was the same gif but instead of "they" the first word rhymed with suckers. I only saw it because I get email notifications.
Wait does it literally email you whatever someone posts if you follow a thread? Once I joined the Watering Hole, I turned emails off FAST. Because Christmas would've killed my inbox.

If I don't go look at the thread I don't keep getting emails (unlike with PMs, where it keeps sending you emails for every. Single. Message. I turned that **** off).

I only just figured out how to turn the PM emails off. Because after this morning when 26 new conversations were started...

 Yeah, it took me a bit to figure it out too. The dead chat for the basics game was bad enough, I can't imagine modding!

In the past it didn't bother me enough to figure it out. Sure, it was a lot of emails but my gmail filters them all into the updates tab anyways.
This morning enough was enough though.

Going to bed at 9:30 feels so nice when I stayed up til 3 am last night studying. And then tomorrow I'll be kidnapped into going out
I DID NOT READ THE "INTO" AND JUST READ "ILL BE KIDNAPPED GOING OUT" AND WAS LIKE WELL BALES, I MEAN, TRY NOT TO GET KIDNAPPED??? PLEASE DONT FORESHADOW.

No foreshadowing here just losing money and hopefully receiving a few free drinks. Although I'd rather be in bed watching Netflix. I guess I should have a social life

Today the excitement started wearing off and now I am going between "excited" and "terrified" any time I think about it. There just seems like an overwhelming amount of stuff on the to do list that needs to be done.

Whatever you've got to do, you've got time. It's only March. And if there isn't time, I'm always available to hire on as a PT assistant . . . 😉

how are you all 'announcing' where you are going to school on facebook (if you are announcing at all)? Just adding it to your education section? making a post about it? something else?

So I'm basic af and I made a photo collage of all the photos of me being a baby vet/ working with animals/ first time in scrubs/ first day of work, etc with a post about how excited I am to be attending OkState CVM in the class of 2021.

(I heavily recommend this if you appreciate the likes/ are a like ***** like me. I got a lot of likes- I got like 222. It was magnificent.)

Last year I made a post about my acceptance, and it turned out to be the only one so then I just added it to my education section.

I have a friend who last year was trying to decide between two grad schools pretty publicly, and she ended up holding something like a gender reveal party to announce her choice. I think she had a big cardboard box and opened it to reveal balloons in the school's colors. Kind of over the top, but it looked cute especially because her boyfriend proposed right after!

This is fantastic, love it.

I made a post about it on my Facebook! I didn't use a picture but thanked everyone for helping get to this point. I'll change my education in the fall once it gets closer to orientation.

I made a post about it.
Then my mom shared the post and got more than twice the likes. :yeahright:

I'm probably not going to add it to my education section until everything is a little more final. I still have a couple of things that I need to take care of to technically accept my seat. Probably early summer I'll add it but maybe not until fall.

Although on that note, I finally paid my tuition deposit yesterday. Can't decide if I'm sad to start giving away money or happy to have that out of the way.

I was going to do this, but I got lazy and just posted a "I will be attending vet school with the class of 2021" yada yada boring post. Most of my baby vet pictures are back home and it just seemed like too much of an effort to bring out the old, dusty memory boxes. But there was this one picture of my eight year old self in a white coat with stethoscope, holding my childhood tabby that would have been perfect.

I made a post about it.

My mom too. Mothers are the queens of facebook.

It was fun. I enjoyed making it. And my mom shaded it, and I got 222 likes, and she got 8.

My mom posted it on Facebook before I had the chance to! Lol we got off the phone and while I was calling my grandparents, she had already posted about it!

This. I paid my deposit Tuesday night and was freaking out after. I called my mom and was like, "Oh no, what have I done?!"

Crisis averted. Thank goodness for mothers.

I wrote a short quick message telling everyone where I got accepted and then thanked people for their help to get me there. At the end of the post I wrote about how my dog inspired me to join the profession and it was my little tribute to her passing because I didnt post anything when it happened. She passed away in August of last year, she was 16.5 years old. I also included a really cute photo of her. I think its been my most liked post ever created on facebook lol

I definitely gave it the overly long post treatment, lol. It's been a rough road for me and I was almost certain I wasn't going to get into vet school, so no shame

My boss posted it on the clinic Fbook page after I told her (I found out when I was at work). She tagged me in it, and it got shared a bunch of times, so I've been joking that most of Facebook knew about it before I did lol. It was all really sweet though and I feel really lucky to have such an awesome mentor 😍

Now I want to see some baby vet pictures!

I don't really use Facebook, but I'll add where I'm going once I start. I'm a huge hypocrite though- an acquaintance of mine also applied (after being rejected last year) and I keep FB-stalking her to see if she got in. So far, she hasn't posted but I'm silently rooting for her!

Oh man mines a good one. There's one of me with a tiger. I was like 5? Another good one was when I was 15, and I went to the Texas A&M vet camp. I was SO happy. Baby face to the max.

I'm jealous! I think there's just a few of me tormenting the family cat.

I did an announcement post, no pics or anything. Honestly it seemed like a good way to let everybody know without being intrusive. I'll change my education status closer to when school starts.

I did a very simple announcement post - partially to let everyone know and partially for the likes. No pictures or waxing poetic about how I have always wanted to be a vet or anything.

Yeah, I pretty much wrote some combination of the following:
  • Holy crap
  • I'm going to be a veterinarian
  • Holy crap
  • Because some crazy school somewhere wants to take on the herculean task of educating me
  • Holy crap
  • I owe a lot to the people who got me here and there's so many of them that I can't list them
  • Holy crap
  • Holy
  • Crap

I posted a picture of part of the acceptance letter and then just made a post about it. Mainly thanking everyone who's stuck with me all these years cuz it's been a really long and tough road for me. Then kind of some holy crap I'm gonna be a vet stuff cuz I'm still in shock. Then something about how I'll forever be and Aggie cuz I will have matriculated from undergrad, my masters, and vet school there. Lol

Dis was mine:
"I just got accepted to Tennessee which means no matter what happens with my Penn interview...I'm gonna be a vet! AHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Capital letters and elongated words are the best way to express excitement on social media

It just so happens that on this very day in 2011, I was accepted to vet school. Here is what I posted:

"Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine class of 2015... right here baby. I GOT IN! FINALLY!"

Yep. It felt good to post.

Love this!

This is what I posted on SDN when I was accepted... posted something similar on Facebook but included the school name....

3 years, 17 schools applied to, 5 interviews(potentially more), 12 rejections (potentially more) and lots of $$ later; I have FINALLY been accepted!!! I am sooo HAPPY!! I never have to go through the applciation process again!! 😀
