They didn’t give it back to 2020. Main campus was basically like lol when asked.

I figured they wouldn’t but uGH. Last spring, they charged us fees for using things like the gym (closed), the library (closed), the student union (closed), etc. they absolutely lost their minds when we asked for it back
 
So I’ve been doing a lot of interviews over the last two weeks for internships. Apparently this is starting to creep into my dreams as well, as I had a dream last night that they asked me to sing 16 bars of any musical theatre piece during my interview. :laugh:

hello wise ones whom have passed NAVLE. I'm fenagling my 4th year schedule and just trying to decide which would be better-community practice or my radiology rotation before NAVLE-keeping in mind I will have my off site rotations before NAVLE as well. Not sure it really matters?

This week, a VM4 student, on IM rotation, performed H&P on my cat before obtaining blood sample.

The VM4 said she was nervous because it was her VERY FIRST day at the animal hospital, and my cat was her very FIRST patient of the day.

Everything was new to her, and the hospital was unfamiliar to her, and she didn't have the code numbers to open different doors, and she didn't know everyone's names, and she had already torn her wraparound PPE, and yet, she was clearly excited to be at the hospital, and she was ready to soak up as much knowledge and clinical experience as possible.

She did a fantastic job with my cat, from start-to-finish ... very thorough, very professional, very attentive, very dedicated.

I have no doubt she will be a fantastic DOCTOR ... just like all of YOU in the Class of 2021! 😍

This is what I tried to tell people. Don't know that it gets listened to, but I had nothing but hard rotations leading up to and when I took mine. Only thing I enjoyed was having it on a day where I naturally had off the day prior so I could go stay in hotel next to site so I didn't have to drive early AM. Not sure people are even having to go to test centers with Covid?

I still don't think I would have wanted a particularly hard rotation when I took the NAVLE but that's mostly because I got less sleep on harder rotations--because they tended to have longer hours--and I wanted to be well-rested for NAVLE since it's a long test.

Aside from that, I agree that it doesn't super matter what you have during or before.

Still gotta go to testing centers though. Even during covid.

Something that worked out super well for me:

I took mine the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Because of the holiday, my service (neuro) was emergency only from Thursday through Sunday. Then we have the day before "off" (with the exception of morning patient treatments) for free. So I was essentially off from Thursday to Tuesday. It was a good way to work the system while being on one of our hardest rotations.

Yeah I'll be on my externship or vacation probably when I take it. Just I can only get radiology or community fit in the fall before navle and the other will have to be in spring.
 
I loved taking mine on an externship, mostly because I was at home. Things were a little slow at the zoo I was at for various reasons so they were cool with me studying during downtime, and I was able to ask them which days were typically their light days so I could schedule it on one of those. Ended up taking it on a different day because #life but I originally had it scheduled for a Friday and would have had the weekend off after. Also, being out of the hospital during that time was lovely because I didn't have to deal with everyone else's stress :laugh:
 
I took mine super early in the test period, right at the beginning of a vacation week. Was glad I got it over with early in that week so I could enjoy the rest of the vacation, and I didn't hurt too badly from not having pretty much most of the rotations that people think of a "important" to take before NAVLE. I did probably have to do more clean up studying in those types of topics (radiology, IM, surgery) than some other folks did but there's also no guarantee you'd have those rotations before testing anyway and you'd probably have to do that type of studying no matter what. I did enjoy taking it when I didn't have other responsibilities and probably would have taken it during a less busy rotation, but only because I could get better sleep and wasn't completely frazzled and already a little brain dead leading up to a long exam

I do recommend this though. It's what I did and It was really good having the weekend off after because I felt like such crap afterwards. And I know some of my classmates who would take it and then have to be back the next day looked dead inside for that next day.

I really hope they keep the extended testing period with rolling scores. Easier to fit into schedules, people know sooner rather than later whether they need to prepare for a round 2 (or even just take out more loans to pay for a round 2!), and there's not the universal stress day in the hospital where you have those few dejected students surrounded by people who are ecstatic

Oh fckin same I’m hoping they keep it for 2022 at the very least. Lemme just get it over with and find out sooner
 
I agree; I hope they keep the rolling test dates & score release.

If they do, I recommend scheduling for the end of the month, not the beginning. I took mine right at the start of December and had to wait like 6 weeks for the score, whereas the people who took it at the end of December only had to wait 2 weeks.

I highly recommend this for very anxious people. Took mine December 1 and while it didn't bother me, it bothered my bestie a lot. The week scores came out, @SportPonies and I had to tell her not to email ICVA.

Between a COVID testing near-disaster where I was almost not allowed on campus until Thursday or Friday, and the fact I'm on orthopedic surgery, I'm already ready for the next two weeks to be done. It's only the second day.

Also posting just to keep us on the front page.
 
Okay, how do y'all update your banner to put clinics in? It's only letting me upload stuff, not type it directly, is that how y'all did it? Thank you 🙂
