I can jump on the party pooper bandwagon.
Maybe it's just the small population sample I know of, but I feel that a decent chunk of vet students are worse owners of dogs in particular than regular owners while they are in vet school. The time committment aspect alone is a struggle for a chunk of people. Money is also an aspect I don't think a lot of people think through. Not just emergency bills, but even general care. Dog food, monthly preventatives, travel costs (if flying), etc all add up.
I'm not saying all of vet students. But there are an easy dozen people I feel shouldn't have gotten a dog while in school because of their lifestyle/obligations that they didn't change or get rid of.
