Hmm... it says application submitted 9/12/2014, which I was taking to basically mean "received." I had emailed them back at the beginning of November because the portal was still saying that no VMCAS apps had been loaded yet. Then Tiffany Wormhoudt e-mailed me back the next day saying that their system says everything had been received, and my page looked like it currently does. So I'm assuming everything is in order.

I would send them an email. (Then let me know what they say haha) They got back to me super quick, so I think they're pretty on top of their correspondence.

Ah, I just looked more closely lol. Yours should look something like this.

Nonsponsored means that the state of Colorado isn't contributing any $$ towards tuition, so tuition for nononsored students about double the cost of sponsored tuition. Generally nonsponsored are offered to OOS accepted applicants but they do offer instate people on the alternate list nonsponsored spots if they open up before they'll offer OOS alternates the nonsponsored spots.

I like the last part you mentioned, being an IS applicant. I didn't know they would do that though! 🙂
 
The IS alternate list isn't very long & I got the impression that every year, the IS alternates have a very very high percent chance of being offered a nononsored spot. Dr Hardy said that for every nonsponsored offer, they average 4 offers before the spot is accepted. She indicated that they basically take the ranked IS alternate list & put the ppl on that list in the same order at the top of the nonsponsored list & then the OOS ranked list starts after the IS list. A classmate & I both were IS alternates last year & both of us were offered a nonsponsored spot. She accepted, but I declined after looking at my financial situation & deciding I couldn't afford to pay the higher tuition. The sponsored spots don't tend to become available to alternates much, but I know of at least two alternates who scored a sponsored spot last year, though. Also, spoke with another student today who Janet J. had told her directly that we probably won't hear until Jan. Ugh!!!!! Guess it builds character!!

Was she referring to dual-program applicants as well or just DVM applicants who won't hear until January?
 
When she was saying notifications were probably not going out until Jan, Janet was talking about the phase 3 people (non WICHE) who traditionally are notified the end of finals week, in mid Dec. Phase 3 WICHE, at least going from what others have posted here, have in the past been notified a week or two later after that in Jan.

I will say, Janet has passed some incorrect info to me before, just straight up incorrect info. Given this, I'm really really hoping she's just feeling overwhelmed & exaggerating about the pushed back notifications.

Ugh, I didn't realize this scenario was a possibility. How awful to have to pass on admission to your IS because it will cost you twice as much! I think I would rather be flat rejected than be a non-sponsored alternate. 🙁
 
FYI, they just updated the portal again. It now says Phase II decisions will be posted in early December instead of late November.

Grrrrrrrr I really hope it's due to the glitch with VMCAS and not the number of applicants :/
 
Ugh!!!! Good to know. Since I've heard from multiple sources that there is a glitch, I'm assuming that is what's causing the delay, not the number of applicants. They have usually had right around the same number of applicants each year if you look back at the previous applicant stats.

yeah, it was so so so so hard to say decline the offer. Made me feel sick to my stomache. I wanted to take it and run with it so very badly, but decided I couldn't live with the nonsponsored tuition. But, it was SO HARD, I couldn't even believe I was saying no to something I've worked so many years and wanted so badly.... but I do not regret that decision, it was the right choice for me. Definitely a gamble & hoping it ultimately pays off with a sponsored spot this year, but no guarantees. Makes life interesting!

You are monetarily a stronger person than I. I would have thrown my money at them and said take me like Jack took Rose in Titanic. But then I would have regretted it later on for sure (as far as money debt load).

I think there was glitches when I applied too last year, so seems like a fair assumption! We all heard back in mid/late December (the week before Christmas) 🙂

I didn't hear anything about that last year, but this year, I heard from a reliable source that they are 2 months behind where they should be due to the data from VMCAS basically being gibberish when it was sent over. I think that is a new thing, but I also heard that they are really working hard to try to get us news right around that Dec 19th normal time and probably we will get it then or shortly thereafter. I feel bad for them, must be so stressful.

I applied to the DVM/MPH program, but haven't heard anything yet.

congrats... Are you OOS? I applied for the dual dvm/phd (IS) as well and haven't heard back... :/ now I'm nervous.

I has a question... Does everyone who has a GPA of 3.4+ and not applying for the UAF/DVM program automatically pass Phase II? Is the portal saying that only applications with under a 3.4 will be reviewed for Phase II and everyone else advances? Also, does CSU interview?

Correct. If your GPA is above 3.4 and you didn't apply to UAF or combined programs, you are in the "regular" pool and will automatically pass phase II. CSU does not do interviews (except for DVM/PhD).

FYI for us dual applicants, it changed again :\ Mid-Dec now rather than Early-Dec..... Sigh***

Applicants who have a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or less will be read, some will be denied and will receive notification via the portal.

Congrats!!!

I heard a rumor that there are around 1600 total applicants this year. That's around the usual amount. No idea how many IS vs OOS, though.

Yes congrats! Ya I thought they were pushing it back? Well I hope at least they'll notify us dual applicants who didn't get in :/ boo going crazy...

In the letter I got, over 50 people applied to the DVM/PhD program for (I'm assuming) 1-2 spots. If you factor in self-selection, these chances are so slim that it's probably a bit of a crapshoot. Don't give up hope yet!
