Which one would you pick? I am definitely one of those few people who would be equally happy in a city vs some place like hanover. Location aside, I wanna hear your opinions. 👍

I'm a California resident. Coming back here to do rotations in SF would be a HUGE plus for me. Dartmouth's financial aid office is giving me tons of money while i'm still waiting on einstein to get back to me on that service/scholarship.
Wouldn't you all say Dartmouth is more "prestigious"? Come residency time, won't the dartmouth name go further?
This is such a dilemma, a few months ago, I was worried I wont' be accepted anywhere. Now i'm doing this, gotta be thankful 🙂
No not at all. Dartmouth's prestige comes from its undergrad. I would say Einstein is more prestigious but not significantly enough to matter for residency.
I think Dartmouth has a better match list than Einstein.
In regards to the research question..it depends what you're interested in I guess. Dartmouth has some great health policy research, with their Dartmouth Atlas and all.
If it means anything to you, USNews puts Dartmouth at 34 and Einstein at 38, but remember that Dartmouth is MUCH MUCH smaller in terms of class size/faculty (so dollars/faculty member is greater - I believe).
Also, AECOM class size is 183 vs Dartmouth at 83. Up to you if you like big or small.
What are your interests? Are you interested in academic medicine/research? Einstein might be better for this, as I don't think there's a whole lot of research going on at Dartmouth. I think the cool thing about that school is the clinical clerkships. I have friends there, now in M3...and they have well developed linkages with hospitals in SF. So they're spending a good 6 months of their M3 year living in San Francisco....which is a far better place to be than the Bronx (IMO). Interesting too to get a varied clinical experience in a sort of sleepy New England town and a bustling city. Also adds a little diversity to where you live.
Otherwise, it's a toss up. I think the main differentiator between the two schools is that Einstein is probably slightly better in research and in an urban area (although, not really a fun area). Dartmouth is pretty isolated, but if you like going skiing and the small town feel, then that seems like a plus.
I was on a similar boat then decided to go with the wrong choice.
If you want a place with things to do, classmates that wake up and look forward to school, a place where minorities and cultures are celebrated, a place whose grading system is collaborative instead of cut-throat, and a place where profs grade you based on criteria and not how much they like you, and a place where you can openly express how you feel and have any kind of privacy, and if you like decent facilities, choose Einstein.
