If I'm fortunate enough to be offered a seat here I might have to get a second credit card then

If you're already planning to get another credit card and plan on flying home for breaks, I highly recommend an airline credit card. I opened American Airlines and United before school started to get the bonus points (got 50k from each of those which is good for two round trip flights at the right point price) and was able to cover all of my flights through my second year spring break. Which works out well since wherever I move to for third year, I'll have to drive my car there. So yay for not paying for flights! 🙂

(I've also heard Southwest is good for that too but there aren't good flights home with southwest so I didn't do that one)

How long ago did the most recent round of acceptances go out?

And when did those applicants interview?

Random question...I was complete a few weeks ago and a handful of days after that, I got the "secondary received email". This email asks for LORs to be submitted if they haven't been already, and states that once your file is complete, they will review it. My question is, do they send another email saying your file is complete, or is one to assume that they are under review if their letters were already sent in?

They sent me a complete email after the secondary received email. If I remember right it took a couple of weeks for the complete email, and I'm still under review (pushing 8 weeks at this point). Get ready to settle in for the long haul.

However, from a financial perspective, getting a cash back credit card can sometimes be better than an airline miles credit card, and most people can benefit more from a cash back card:

Yeah I have a cash back card now. I only used the airline cards long enough to get the bonus miles (3 months, spending $1000) and then switched back over. The cash back card wasn't going to give me the almost $500 worth of airline credit in that little time haha. But yeah, everyone has their preferences for credit cards of course, just giving my two cents 🙂

WL. I knew I botched the interview. What a shame. Anyone know about how much movement there is?

My email won't open from mobile :'( does the subject say kcu admission decision for those who got accepted? The subject looks like sad news to me!

ACCEPTEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD OOOO YAAAAAAAAAAAA. It's the joplin campus but that's fine with me!!

When did you interview??

Anyone know what the acceptance rate is like post interview?

Is it a good or bad sign that the guy in the admissions office seemed pretty immediately familiar with my file when I checked on its status? I'm still waiting to hear back after submitting my secondary 5.5 weeks ago. I didn't even have to spell my name or give my ID number before he pulled it up my info in about 3 seconds.

I've now officially decided to matriculate to KCU, like 100% fa sho fa sho, paying the deposit tomorrow and withdrawing all other II. Anyone else dead set?

I have an interview at CCOM Friday and I'm really considering cancelling it. CCOM is like 35 min from my house but the tuition has me like

Just as advice for all you. Yes KCU is a great school and that's def my biased opinion haha but if you have interviews you should check them out. I think the most important things to think about are 1) do you see yourself happy there and 2) will that school have the resources to get you where you need to go. Perhaps that's at CCOM, perhaps your home MD state school. But you should make sure you'll find peace when you end up matriculating wherever it is you decide! 🙂

This. I may not have matriculated yet, but I've got a few years and several big life decisions behind me, and I wholeheartedly agree with AlteredScale. If nothing else, you'll feel much more at peace with your decision to go to KCU when it gets tough and you want anything but medicine or your current environment.

That said, I'm a native of the KC area living far away, and I'm doing everything I can to move back there. KCU is my top choice right now, and this thread has really affirmed my opinion thus far. I have yet to receive an II from KCU, but I was waitlisted at Penn State's MD school a few years back and interviewed last year at the local MD school where I am now. Both were equally impressive, though in different ways. At the end of each interview, I felt like I could see myself at each school. Maybe it was the sheer excitement of it all?

But, hell, I'll take any medical school at this point, even if it's not KCU. I'm really hoping for a DO school, though!

tl;dr - the more you know, the more peace you may have about your decision when it gets rough. (Though this could backfire and have a grass-is-always-greener effect if you're like that.)

Good luck everyone! Please don't take up too many spots before I hear back from them! (I was told it would be this week!)

Accepted to the Joplin campus today (interviewed 10/11)!
Was not able to fill out the campus preference form because it went to the promotions section of my email and I honestly didn't have a preference, but after seeing Kansas City I really fell in love with the area and the campus. I know its new but does anyone have any insights on Joplin? Also, would it even be possible to switch to the Kansas City campus?
