LMU c/o 2027 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
that makes me sad, i want to ask questions and get to talk to them like a human being lmao. I did terrible in the casper so i’m doomed hahaha.
I also did bad on the Casper but I will say my experience may be like that because I picked the first day interviews were offered so I was one of the first so they were still working out kinks more then likely. Also I did feel more confident in answering the questions during the interview compared to Casper.

I know we are just sitting around and waiting for a few more weeks, but I am catching myself just staring at my email, this wait y'all, it's killing me.
Me too…. The worst part is it my 3rd time applying… the 1st two times I applied to my IS school but this cycle I applied to 4 schools including LMU

Is anyone attending the Q&A tomorrow on Zoom about the acceptance of the spring and fall 2023 classes? I wonder if they might give a time estimate on when we could hear back.

I will be there!

I’ll be there! Hoping to ask the time frame of when we will know if we are accepted so that we have enough time to plan for possibly starting in January!

Hello everyone! I figured I would jump on this thread. This is my second time applying to LMU. Denied last year and I have an interview in November. I am hoping to attend the zoom meeting tomorrow regarding the January class, but I do not have interest in the spring 2023 start date. I’m finishing up graduate school now. I feel like they may have some difficulties filling a new class for January with such late notice…

That's what I'm scared about because they said everyone who is offered a seat in the next few weeks can ultimately choose between either start date. So I'm scared more people are going to pick the fall class and it's going to fill up faster.

I had my interview a few days ago, I’m really bummed because although I felt like I answered every question well, all of my interviewers were very monotone and didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. I actually had one interviewer say something rude (that I won’t mention) and after that my interest kind of plummeted. I hope everyone has a better experience than I did! Did anyone else feel like their interviewer was in a mood/not happy to be there?

I did have one interviewer that was super monotone and I feel like they didn't like me so I was super discouraged. The other two interviewers were super nice thought and I felt comfortable with them.

I had interview yesterday at 8 am, everyone was nice and attentive ( maybe one person was a little not in the “festive“ mood, but still nothing too bad), I felt good, maybe your interviewers were tired, I only can imagine how much rush and stress they have after getting January class approved about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully it will be great school and whoever decide to go will have a great experience.

I honestly really enjoyed my interviewers, one of my interviewers was "blunt" but we connected in conversation over common interests and that made me feel better. I really hope I have the opportunity to study under them in the future. My interview experience made me move LMU up on my list and seriously make me consider my options if accepted.

Does anyone know when the visit days are? it doesn't say on the flyer they just sent and the link on there doesn't work either.....

Nov 5th and Nov 11th! I'm going on the 5th!

Thanks! I’ve got way to much going on around that time :/ Plus my interview is the 16th. I’m gonna try see if they have availability in December when I’m in the area!

Like yelenaMV said, I also had time to ask questions and felt like there wasn't too much pressure. What really helps about these interview questions is that they're oriented towards vet med (unlike the Casper), so if you have a good amount of experience, you may find that you've encountered similar situations and will be able to draw from those to answer the questions pretty succinctly, leaving you with some time at the end.

I totally bombed my Casper, but I feel like I did fairly well with the interview - I hope you end up feeling the same!
I hate the questions are situational vet med questions because we aren’t doctors yet and i feel like that puts too much pressure on us, especially if we haven’t had alot of experience in one area. Like what if i don’t know what to do if i’m presented with a guinea pig with appendicitis or something like wtf do we say??😂 ugh…

It’s not really questions like that they aren’t that specific well at least mine weren’t

as Hcat said, the questions are in the vet field, but about how you would resolve situation, not about your knowledge as a vet professional.

Hi everyone!
I am an absolutely stressed. I got an email for tomorrow’s Q and A but I just wanted to ask if everyone got that email. I’m just wondering why I would get the email about the Q and A if I haven’t gotten an interview yet.

I’m pretty sure everyone that applied got that email, I did too and I also have not been offered an interview. But I’m definitely interested in the January class so I hope if I get offered an interview it’s soon. When did you submit your app? I did mine on the last day, so I’ve been hoping that I haven’t heard anything because they’ve been reviewing everyone chronologically

I submitted my app on the last day and was offered an interview on 10/17. I wouldn't worry too much yet though as I imagine a good number of people also submitted apps on the last day, so they might just still be going through them all.

Yeah in an email I received it said they will be reviewing and interviewing until Nov.7th so you got time. And not only are they probably offering interviews in order of submission but also possibly by last name.

does anyone know where to access the recording for the info session today?

I unfortunately was unable to make it to the session as I had class. Anyone that was there could you shed some light on what was talked about? 😅

So basically they first talked about the timeline difference between the cohorts for like the curriculum. The second half was talking about acceptance. So people eligible for the spring class can hear back as soon a nov.1 and once the spring class is filled then the will start offering fall only. So people such as myself who are only eligible for the fall class could hear back before the end of December but it could be early depending on how long it takes to fill the spring class.

Basically they said that majority of people have been interviewed for the Spring cohort and that acceptances will begin to roll out starting next week. If you haven’t gotten an interview, they still have possible dates in December/January where they may have other interview sessions, just depending how fast the classes fill up. If offered acceptance, you will have 5 days to put a deposit down for the Spring Cohort, if not you’ll automatically be moved into the fall cohort and you will need to place a deposit by April 15th.

Anyone want to talk about how awkward that zoom meeting was with them getting questioned on why so many people in there hadn’t received interview invites but there’s only a few days left of interviews. I felt like that should have been for people that have received interview invites because there were alot of non-invited people that basically got **** on because they basically said yea we’ve got nov 7th left and we’re done with interviews like whatttt😳 I don’t think they realized what they had done with inviting everyone until all the questions started rolling😅 You could tell they didn’t know how to respond and kept repeating the same excuses. I could feel the tension through the screeeeeen. And then them getting called out for not sending the link to everyone and only sending it to the invited was comical.

Yeah I was shocked when they said they are only going to do a few more days of interviews. I know in the past interviews, I believe went all the way till Feb.

Did they mean, only those who got interviews up until nov 7th would be considered for admission for spring 2023, but there would still be interviews after for fall 2023?

I don’t think so. I think all candidates are being interviewed until november 7th and then once interviews are done and decisions are made, if there any leftover spots for next fall even after they empty their waitlist then they will have interviews next semester for fall 2023. Those that have received interview invites received them before the spring semester was announced.

this is correct from my understanding. I have an interview scheduled for 11/9 as someone who could not swing the short notice for spring. There are also interviews occurring on the 14th and 16th I believe

I'm pretty sure they are sending out acceptance next week for the spring class from what I got of the Q&A. But if they don't fill that cohort up with everyone who has already interview then the people with interviews in late nov are still eligible for the spring class. Basically it depends on how fast the spring class fills up. I also believe they said people who were on a waitlist for last years class where contacted for the spring class but im not positive if I understood that part correctly.

That’s what I took from it too. I was surprised that they acted like they had sent most of their interview invites out already for both spring and fall cohorts. I figured they would still be interviewing into January. They need to fill their spring cohort first, I think we all get that. They are only able to send offers for spring to people who will have pre-reqs completed by the spring start date. This should hopefully free up seats in the fall.

Hi all current first year here!
Just wanted to pop in with the first prospective student day being just a week away. I’ll be helping out with check-in, tours, and Q&As on November 5th and we’re so excited to meet you!
Please keep in mind this is a really stressful time for both students and faculty as we work around solidifying this new class. If you haven’t received an interview invite yet don’t worry! It definitely doesn’t mean that you won’t and interviews usually go through February so you still have plenty of time to hear back. I will also say class sizes have been confirmed with the January class having 100 students and the fall class having 125. The January class of 2027 will be having roughly half of their classes with the current first years (class of 2026) as of right now.

Hi everyone, member of class of 2025 here! Feel free to message me if you have any questions!
Hello, if you can share your school experience, cons and pros, facilities, professors, housing? thank you.

Hello, if you can share your school experience, cons and pros, facilities, professors, housing? thank you.
The facilities are definitely newer than some other schools - one of my friends recently toured an older school and mentioned that LMU's facilities/equipment/etc. is much newer/up to date than that school. The other school's tour guide even mentioned this, saying that some of it was due for an upgrade. That being said, because LMU is a fairly new veterinary school, that can come with some drawbacks too. The curriculum seems to change fairly frequently for my class in particular, but I believe it may have been at least partially in preparation for rolling admissions. As for the faculty, they're all really supportive and seems to genuinely care about the students and their well-being, success, etc. As for housing, I believe pricing will be going up with the incoming students, but it's much cheaper than what I was paying back home (granted that was a much larger city). I would highly recommend signing a lease with a more official rental business rather than going with a private landlord - several of my friends have had issues with private landlords. TN does not have any mold laws, so I would be cautious on that front, especially with basements. There is also the option to live in the university housing, which I don't have experience with. I will say that a common complaint among students is that there really isn't much to do in town, unless you enjoy hiking (which there are countless trails around here due to the National Park), but honestly that isn't a huge deal for me personally because of all of the time spent studying.

Thank you so much for the information.
I want to find more about university housing, I think it would be better option as I am single, to meet new people, have gym and others facilities near by, and not to get stuck in some neighborhood that I have no idea about.

I second this as well (with regards to learning more about university housing). I'm also curious as to whether or not university housing is pet friendly and how much more expensive (or cheaper) university housing might be compared to housing provided by leasing companies. Lol I've heard some horror stories of renting from private landlords so I'm not really looking to get into something that might cost be a lot more in the long run.

Someone asked in the recent meeting if the housing was pet friendly, and they said the graduate housing is! Others said that if you’re trying to find pet friendly housing through a private seller then start looking super early because the options are very limited in the area.

I will say that a few of my classmates have lived in the university housing and have had cats! I'm not sure about dogs though.

The University Housing is pet friendly. There is UInn that has single rooms and there are the 2 apartment type housing where it’s 3 roommates sharing only the living space, separate rooms and bathrooms. I’ve heard better stories from friends living in the apartments vs UInn. Before I came here, I was highly recommended to live off campus, specifically in Middlesboro because it’s cheaper and love where I live! Utilities and Rent are much cheaper here than where I’m from. But I have friends in the apartments and they love it there. Pros and cons for all options, but I always choose based on what is a good option for you.

Current second year that will be at both the 11/5 and 11/11 events popping in!

Some tidbits and advice that I’ll chime in with as I am currently procrastinating that you are more than welcome to follow up with me on at these events

1. If you have been accepted and plan on attending LMU, join the LMU Housing and For Sale Page and post exactly what you’re looking for in a home moving here! Pet friendly? Fenced in yard? 2 bedrooms? Etc. I did this when I was accepted and instead of having to do the searching, landlords and realtors were commenting on my post and I was able to sign a lease for my awesome house I’m currently in within a week of posting! (As someone who has a private landlord, mine is truly awesome!) you’ll know who the good landlords are bc other students will chime in and say they recommend them

2. When you guys visit I really recommend you check out the area! I work at Gap Creek Coffee House over the breaks and I love the staff and the owners! Their paninis and salads are so delicious and they have so many latte flavors to choose from! (They currently have one called The Pumpkin King that I highly recommend you try when you come visit!). I had to shout them out, but there are so many other wonderful places to check out like Ike’s and Nineteen19!

3. There are some awesome students (1st-3rd years) coming to these events the next two weeks! Feel free to ask us questions and get to know us and the area!

I’m always more than happy to answer questions from prospective students! I remember being in your shoes once and I want to help relieve some stress and provide advice wherever I can!
Feel free to reply back to this with questions you all have! I know a few classmates of mine as well as first and third years occ linger on here and I’m sure one of us will get back to you
