LMU c/o 2027 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
So basically, unless you said you were interested in the Spring cohort you won't know for a while? I interviewed on 10/17 but I'm not eligible for the Spring cohort since I'm finishing up a prerequisite course. I hope that doesn't mean I have less of a chance lol

I'm in the exact same boat and also interviewed on the 17th. I think we're not going to hear back until the Jan class is filled

Dang lol. I wish I was eligible for Spring cause this is stressing me out 😅

So do we think they are releasing acceptances based on what day we interviewed? I interviewed on the 26th but haven't heard anything yet

In the form I didn’t select Spring because I live in another country and it’s too short notice, plus I want to hear back from other schools before making a decision. I’m kind of regretting it though knowing now that I’ll have to wait longer to hear back😭
Me too

I interviewed on the 17th and I said I was only interested in the fall class.

Has anybody that was eligible for Spring but said they weren't interested been accepted and offered a seat in Spring anyways? I didn’t think that form would be so definitive

Following, i’m eligible for spring but selected no because I wanted to hear from my IS school. I didn’t hear from them today 😂

For those that heard back, did you select eligible and interested? In the meeting they just kept mentioning the eligible part. So while I did say I was eligible, I also said I wasn’t interested so Im not sure where that puts me. Also congrats!!

Honestly any information and clarification you got I think we will all appreciate it! Thank you!

Spring acceptance offers will have a different timeline to accept. Those should detail a decision deadline for spring; otherwise, you'll be considered fall.

Individuals offered acceptance now through to April 14, 2023, have until April 15, 2023, to provide a decision. Schools cannot overextend offers, so total offers out can never exceed total seats available.

If a school has extended offers that meet their total seat limits, no new invites can go out until denial decisions are provided. Schools cannot force applicants to make a decision prior to April 15.

After April 15 is a different story. All offers are considered null if no decision is provided by that deadline, which allows schools to send out new invites.

tl;dr version is: folks extended a fall offer have until April 15 to decide. If no decision is made by then, the offer is considered null and new offers begin to go out.

Any hints on when invites may be sent 🧐
I see you have an answer - congratulations! Fall only invites will not go out until the January class is filled.

I’m interviewing Nov 16- so doesn’t that mean im only being looked at for the spring cohort? Or for the fall cohort? I have no interested in the spring cohort- only the fall cohort. :/
Fall only. I believe they want all spring considerations interviewed by November 7, though there are some eligible that may be interviewing on November 9.

So if I haven't gotten an interview invite I'm gonna take it as I will probably get a rejection soon?
Hard to say, though iirc LMU communications usually come out in the new year. The addition of the spring cohort makes it hard to say when interviews will conclude.

For those of you accepted is there a listed deadline for you to commit/put down a deposit for the spring class?

The deadline is five business days from the date of the offer for both the matriculation fee and confirmation form. Frankly, I expect that there's going to be people who have to postpone just for financial reasons--it's a lot of money to retrieve with such short notice.

Wow, that’s a really fast turnaround time. Honestly I really think that they’re going to struggle to fill the spring class going about it like this

I think it will be difficult too. We all applied for the Fall semester. It’s difficult to make arrangements last minute, especially if those accepted have a choice between the spring and the fall. I don’t think we will see denials for awhile & acceptances will most likely continue for months with people finding out about other schools. I do like that they are sending acceptances out before next year though.

i am eligible but not interested but i still put that I was interested because they said those that are accepted would still be able to pick fall if they changed their mind and i knew if i clicked interested id hear back quicker

I hope a lot of people didn’t do this. The admissions committee is working really hard to get the January class filled in time to get people moved so lying to them is really not fair to the committee or Jan. applicants 🙁

I am still deciding if I will start in January! I am on the fence but I am eligible to start, which I am really excited about! It is just so soon and a 10 hr move 😵

so if you have 5 days to respond, do we think they will send out acceptances rolling once a week?? still waiting to hear about spring
It depends I guess on how many people accept spring the first time around.

Are you waiting on any other schools, or is LMU your #1?

I'm kinda scared because it sounds like not a lot of people are picking the spring class so it seems the fall class is filling kinda quickly.
I still think that they will find 100 people who will be happy to join and make deposit for spring. I treat it as a huge luck this year for Spring or Fall starting applicants.

I got my acceptance today, I’m eligible to start in the Spring but I said uninterested in the survey because I’m waiting to hear from IS first

I feel like it would’ve made more sense for them to offer spring only acceptances first, and then if people decline their application would go back into the pool with other people that could not do spring. So fall admission wouldn’t be guaranteed (but that’s just like every other year). I think that a lot of people are going to be very hesitant to commit to spring on such short notice knowing they can just go with the fall class, which is going to leave fewer spaces for people that can only do fall

Thank you so much for sharing! That makes me so excited that I might hear back soon. When did you interview? Did you choose Fall then?

Has anyone that interviewed after 10/17 heard back? Mine was last week but didn’t hear today!

I interviewed on Oct 19th. I’m waiting to hear from other schools before deciding where I end up so I will not join the spring class

I totally agree with this!

But did they offer you a seat in the Fall class already?

Some applicants have all of there prerequisites complete too. I am sure they are taking this into consideration when they accept applicants.

I interviewed on probably the very last day (yesterday, 10/31), so I guess I'm not too disappointed that I haven't heard anything all things considered. I wonder if they'll release decisions weekly or if they'll release them only with a few days in between considering how quickly they'll want to fill up the spring cohort?

With that being said, I am struggling a little bit with what I would do if I were offered an acceptance, especially given that you only have 5 days to decide. I would love to start in the spring, but my #1 is WesternU at the moment (with LMU following very closely behind) because it's in the same state as everyone I know, I know that I would have a job lined up there already, and it would be an easier move for my dogs. Plus starting in the fall would mean that I would have more time to make more money, but again, I would love to start in the spring. What are everyone else's thoughts on starting in the spring vs. the fall? Maybe hearing some more perspectives might help.

I agree it’s very short notice and that makes it difficult financially and physically to get to harrogate. I would just truly think about what you would be happier doing. LMU is #2 for pending my IS. If i get accepted to my IS i’m 100% going there because that’s where my family and friends are. I know my mental health would decline being away from them, even though you make new friends, grieving your old life with them is normal and i don’t want the added stress. If you think you would be happy elsewhere, don’t pick the spring cohort because mental health is everything and graduating a semester early won’t be much of a difference if it means you could be healthier and happier elsewhere. If you don’t get accepted to western and you do LMU, you can always start in the fall a short few months later 🙂

I’m still waiting on others but LMU is #1 if I don’t get into my IS
If LMU isn’t your #1 and your IS would be cheaper, closer to family/friends, etc, I personally would wait and see if you get into your IS. If you don’t get in to your IS, you’ll still be able to go to LMU in the fall. But if you do commit to the spring class you run the risk of getting accepted to your IS and regretting going to LMU. IMO starting a few months early isn’t worth that risk

I also interviewed 10/31 and didn’t hear back yesterday

Yes, that’s what I’m leaning towards! This is my 3rd time applying to my IS school so I’m kind of over it at this point 😂

I mean i could end up starting in jan who knows, don’t hate the player, hate the game🤷🏻‍♀️ Y’all would’ve done the same thing if you would’ve thought of it😂 Everyone wants to know as soon as possible, and just because we put that we’re interested doesn’t mean we have to go that cohort just because you think it’s lying.
I think it’s more the fact that by you lying you’re stopping someone from getting an interview that actually WAS interested and eligible. Right now their priority is filling the January class and are interviewing people that have an interest in that. That’s just one more spot that someone might or might not get that they’ll now have to rush to fill.

I will also mention for anyone concerned about moving on short notice, I was pulled off the waitlist last year the first week of May and had roughly 2 1/2 months to find a place and prepare to move 18 hours away (from Maine). I was able to do it relatively stress free and found a place to live within the week of my acceptance. I also shipped boxes in advance so it was less stuff to actually have packed in my car come time to move. I have friends that were pulled off way later than me and still easily made it work, so I definitely wouldn’t let it hinder your decision if you have a genuine interest in the January class!

I don’t think it’s necessarily lying or wrong to reevaluate after acceptance and realize that you’d rather attempt for the IS. If someone was interested and Eligable for the Jan class, LMU would have rushed their interview. I mean I was only a little interested for the Jan class but now I’m not after talking with people who have attended and currently attend LMU.

I wouldn’t consider the situation you give lying at all. If you were even considering it then it’s totally understandable. But the OP stated that they knew they were not going to and did it completely to get a faster response.

But in the end, how much does that affect you? I don’t think it’s a great thing to do, but in the long run do you really think LMU won’t be able to fill their class?

I can also attest to this after getting accepted to LMU’s masters program 2 months prior to starting and was able to find a place within a week of acceptance and figuring out how I’ll be moving from MD to Middlesboro, KY. If finding a place is your worry, I wouldn’t stress that. There are plenty of housing around the area, including the grad housing off campus. There is an active FB page for CVM housing and are constantly updating about new housing available or people looking for roommates.

My original comment was not for worry of my own admissions or anything to do with myself. I was more just saying I feel bad for the admissions office who are already overwhelmed so I hope a lot of people aren’t doing this and making it worse.

literally. It’s not like being interested is going to take someone else’s spot. If they’re going to accept someone then they’re going to accept and if they’re going to reject then they will. Saying you’re interested even if you really aren’t isn’t a big deal because you could end up changing your mind. They’re throwing this way out of proportion😂
