Michigan State University (MSUCOM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
2-4 weeks after 1st batch of acceptances, according to last years thread.
Hey Ubiq,

remember when we were trying to figure out if msu was going to email us or call us (admissions lady told me they were thinking about calling)...idk why i was so slow to think about this but in the "complete" message on the portal is says "you will be notified of a decisions via email" ..so i think that solves it for us haha so im assuming that will start tomorrow! good luck!

Unless they changed something, OOS will be accepted with IS this week. Previous years threads have been this way. Good luck everyone. Tomorrow may be the day!!

haha we will find out soon enough!

Good luck tomorrow!

And here... we... go!

I haven't posted yet on this thread, but I've been following it religiously and thought I would wish everyone the best of luck! Here's hoping we get that acceptance email/call/fb message/other tomorrow.

MSU is a fantastic school for so many reasons. I finished undergrad here in May and would be thrilled to come back for 4 more years. If you have any questions about the school, campus, EL, etc., I'd be happy to answer! 🙂

Good luck tomorrow everyone! 🙂

Does anyone know if they send out rejections/waitlists on the first day as well or if they only contact people with acceptances this early?

In previous years, most people had to wait until the end of the season. 🙂

I already submitted my app before reading this statistic on their website: "86% [of medical students] are Michigan residents"

Should I even bother completing the secondary as a California resident?

I believe that it has been stated a couple times either in this thread or last year's that this is mostly due to self-selection among out of state students as a result of the insane out of state tuition at MSUCOM, and not due to an in-state bias for admissions. I would say it is worth it if you really want to go there.

I'm a 1st year at MSUCOM, DMC campus (has 55 students), and there are at least 2 Californians that I know of.

What happened to the theory that they would be doing phone calls starting tomorrow instead of emails starting today?

It sounds like people have received conflicting info on how acceptances will go out. Maybe MSU doesn't even know yet! ^_^

The e-mail said e-mail.

It's like MCAT score day: Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 41 (11 members and 30 guests) :whoa:

For the past 3 admissions cycles, they have sent out acceptances the Wednesday after Labor Day. They better not be changing it on us this year :scared:

thats what one admissions person told me was a possibility...she said they werent sure yet..that was over a month ago so maybe they decided to go with that ...guess we will see

Hey guys,

I am just filling out the secondary application and I am wondering what do i put as the ending date for activities that I am currently still doing?

Thanks!

I put the current month as the ending date, but noted in the description that I was still doing the activity. Between that and the primary app they should be able to tell that these are ongoing activities.

Just spoke with admissions. Acceptances will go out by email starting tomorrow! Let the agony continue. :bang:

I just dont see this happening today, past years trends indicate there would have been some movement...

Is it true that you need a 27 MCAT to be considered here if you're OOS?

I've waited a month and a half already, I suppose I can make myself wait another day. Of course, if I end up not getting anything tomorrow and have to wait weeks or months more, I'll be a bit less chipper about it.

What's the criteria for the first batch of applicants? I imagine the answer may lie somewhere among the 16 pages of this thread...but maybe someone will reply sooner? GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Still unknown and mysterious... although ISers probably are selected first...but there seems to be a lot of changes this year in the process. :luck:

one more question:

for the secondary, did you guys mention your entries chronologically in terms of the end date (as AACOMAS site organizes it) or the start date?

It says on the site which way they want it listed. Don't remember which it is tho.
