Same here. Hope we both get in!
If we do, 1st round on me 😛

I sent in once, without the dash. Therefore, I assume it will work!

I want to come too. Sounds fun...and we are all going to need some ETOH after this process!

Got the official "complete" e-mail today.

I got the complete email as well and I submitted yesterday !

This may have an obvious answer, but I wanted some feedback about whether an experience I had would be considered volunteer....I volunteered abroad for three summers doing various service projects, but the program gave us a "living stipend" that worked out to be about $30 per week. Would this by default be considered paid employment?

That's a grey area IMO. Seems like it would be more on the side of volunteering than paid. $30/WK is pretty low...though it is still "paid"

I wouldn't mention the stipend, label it as volunteer and you're golden

Yeah, that is grey. 30/week is nothing if you are putting in full-time work. I'd call and ask.

I had a volunteer experience where the woman left her family quilt for me in her will when she passed away. I'm using it right now, actually. She had left a needle in it I'm thinking from way back in the 70s, and it kept stabbing my husband during the night when we were trying to sleep. It took me a couple of years to find where the needle actually was. I always knew she didn't like my husband, lol! I think that it would have made her happy to know that we put what she had made to use, especially after her grandson died suddenly on a cruise ship (no joke). Can't make this stuff up even if I tried.

Depending on where, $30 in a 3rd world country can be a lot of money..

It's definitely a grey area; the website for the program explicitly mentions "unpaid staff," but Wikipedia mentions the "living stipend." It makes up a huge portion of my volunteer hours, but I don't want to jeopardize my chances

Do call so that at least you will know for sure since it makes up a lot of your hours. 🙂

Got a little excited because the complete email started with "Congratulations!"

^ yea me too 😛
Anyone know roughly when did last year's acceptance came about?

To whoever said they won't start looking til sept at our apps, I'm guessing they will be starting this month according to the complete email?

I think they start reviewing them now and sending acceptances in September.

this whole waiting thing. I am not a fan of it.another month and a half ? ****

Just fyi everyone. I got the picture upload to work by resizing my photo manually to 2x3 inches and converting it to jpeg format.

It will be here before you know it. 🙂

I hope so 🙂 ever since I found out about D.O I have been ecstatic. I was resigned to going to SGU in Grenada. Then my hopes were reignited and MSUCOM is what I became obsessed with for ages.

Has anyone else gotten their secondaries imported since the first batch last week?

Although it says on the app that they only accept 2 LORs, has anyone submitted more than that?

Hope so! Last year they sent out the first batch of acceptances the first Wednesday of September. But according to the email I think acceptances may come sooner this cycle!?

yes, I was not among the first group but I am complete now. I used my aacomas ID without the dash if that helps

edit: I meant I used no dash when submitting the letters

Just looked and I am now showing completed. Also it is showing duplicate copies of my LOR... oops

Man if i had an acceptance in september... all of senior year will be a huge party

How long should I wait until I send in my secondary? I won't get my MCAT scores back until the end of September. My plan is for right when I take the year so everything has a month to get verified. Thoughts?

Last year I submitted in September to wait for my Summer grades to come in. I wasn't completed through AACOMAS until October and didn't get a secondary invite until November. So, I would apply now and that way they will be ready to review your application when the score is released in September.

So I got my mcat scores from my retake, I got a 31 this time. First time breakdown was 9-10-10 (ps-vr-bs) this time was 10-10 -11.

Is this good enough for a Canadian student ?

When is it late to apply to MSU-COM? I just started my app and plan on submitting a fee waiver. However, that will push back my app 2-4 weeks. So it looks like it will be late August to late September before my app is in and secondary is complete. I am flat broke, and could scrounge up the money but it would hurt. So what has been the general consensus the previous years?

Background:
Ok, so I was devastated by my MCAT score today of a 26 10vr 7phys 9bio I was anticipating a much higher score. My GPA is around cGPA 3.55 and BCPM 3.8. I am non-traditional with interesting e.c's and life activities.

Anyway MSU-COM has been a top 5 choice of mine all along and it now looks to be my top choice. However, I have not gotten any applications done as I wanted to know my scores since funds are extremely tight.

I think with any medical school you want to aim to be complete at the latest between mid September - Early October. The MCAT is a **** show man, don't let it phase you. Luckily for you it seems that you have strong verbal skills (10) and your science scores indicate a serious lack of knowledge. (Most people can pull 9-10 with enough studying). You should consider retaking it in september

Thank you, and yes this test was a major letdown. I screwed up my study schedule, and only got about 80 good hours in before the test, almost all general Chem which was pretty much useless on my particular exam. I was taking classes the whole time. Essentially that was a complete blind try, as I did not even get the chance to do a full practice exam. However, I will probably have to live with it as I do not want a gap year and have a heavy load this fall with no spare money.

Be mindful of the due date...

Apply Anyway! The website says it takes about 3-6 weeks to get an app waiver. In the meantime start on your AACOMAS app. Just don't submit it until you hear back as to whether or not you got the fee waiver. Filling in the coursework will take alot of work. If this is what you want go after it. You'll kick yourself for not trying.
