Kind of a weird question, but how personal should the optional bullet points be? Im mentioning some serious stuff that affected college grades, but I also wanted to mention losing 60lbs as an accomplishment.... extraneous?
Serious stuff affecting college grades seems reasonable, although I wouldn't make so that you are trying to receive sympathy from the admissions committee. Weight loss.. Possibly extraneous. Although, I don't think mentioning weight loss will increase your chances of admission.Kind of a weird question, but how personal should the optional bullet points be? is the thought generally one academic and one non-academic?
It may! If there's someone on the committee who shares my plight!... and may even make me memorable. Ya know, adcom1: "If we admit her, she can teach a spin or yoga class!" adcom2: "Yes, brilliant idea!" 😉
Sounds great to me! You can teach yoga classes, and I can teach classes on music theory. 😛It may! If there's someone on the committee who shares my plight!... and may even make me memorable. Ya know, adcom1: "If we admit her, she can teach a spin or yoga class!" adcom2: "Yes, brilliant idea!" 😉

So I'm just about complete with the secondary. Does an OOS applicant with a 3.7-3.8 cGPA, slightly lower sGPA and 29 MCAT stand a good chance here? I think I have around 800 hours of service including high school. This process is nerve-wracking!

I believe this year they will be reviewing them in the order received/complete, unlike the last few years.anyone have any clues as to when they will make a decision based on when you submitted the secondary? I guess I'm asking, will they have looked over all of our apps that have been submitted by the time the first decisions come out? or Might I be stuck waiting a few weeks after that until they get to mine in the pile?

That would be awesome!
My letters finally got in 🙂. They must have downloaded them on Friday.
Wooh! 😛Yay! 🙂
I certainly hope so...Here's to hoping we all submitted early enough to be on the first round of acceptances!
I certainly hope so...
Acceptances are coming out soon!
A month is not soon 8(
WingsFan you got this! Rooting for you!Hey, I only count 24 days until September 4th, that is technically a fair bit less than a month 😉
I think I will shed tears of joy if I manage to get in that soon.
Hey can anyone who has already submitted their LOR explain to me the process. On the CIB, it said that MSUCOM does not take interfolio, but I'm pretty sure it said they accept interofolio on the their website. I also read in another thread that MSUCOM requires the letter writer to fill out an evaluation form with specific questions, is that true or can we just submit the LOR without the form. It also said that the letter writer has to talk about how well the student knows the philosophy of osteopathic medicine, is this true too?
thanks

Hey guy! I am OOS with 3.64 cgpa and 3.65 Scgpa with 24 in MCAT. However, I have 2000 volunteer hours and 3 leadership positions. On top of that I am Canadian Permanent resident too and I did my undergrad from university of Toronto. do you think that I stand a chance?

With regards to the last few years, most canadian resident who are accepted have at least a 28 and most have a 30+. Your gpa is a little low for CA applicants. I'm not sure if 2,000 volunteer hours will compensate for a 24. (No offense).Hey guy! I am OOS with 3.64 cgpa and 3.65 Scgpa with 24 in MCAT. So, after you guys submitted your secondary materials and became complete, did you do anything else? Any email follow-ups? LOIs?
...or are we all just waiting....![]()

I will be uploading my summer transcript through the MSUCOM secondary app portal.I'm not doing anything besides updating my transcript when summer semester's grades become official next week until after the adcom has had a chance to do something (i.e. actually look at peoples applications and start doling out acceptances/rejections/wait lists). I am considering sending them my transcript instead of just submitting it to AACOMAS... any thoughts on this being a good idea?
besides that, we've got at least 3 weeks of agonizing waiting to go through and I don't think there is much we can do.
All of them have to be 400 level, or are 300 level okay too? It's kind of hard to get that many 400 level classes..and considering most 300 and 400 level classes are at the same difficulty?
Gosh I just saw this. I honestly couldn't remember if she said 300 or 400 on the phone immediately after we hung up so at the risk of being annoyingly bothersome by asking again (and already being a neurotic person), I just went with all 400 levels to be absolutely safe :/
If your LoRs are being emailing MSU why do you need to use Interfolio?I am having my LOR's e-mail their letters to the MSU admissions. Is anyone using Interfolio though? What does one put for the "Recipient Name"? Should I call MSUCOM and ask? They seem to not want you to call them.
According to my HPA, MSUCOM will pick the two letters you designated on their secondary out of the committee letter and read those. Hope this helps.I have a committee letter/packet from my school that comprises all of my letters of recommendation from professors, physicians, volunteering managers, etc. Will this count as one letter out of the two letters required or will MSU-COM count it as 7-8 different letters and use only the first two that they pull out? I have no idea how my school sends out this packet and they refuse to use interfolio.
Also, I do have two of my physician letters at home in sealed envelopes in official letterhead. I know that we're not allowed to submit anything in paper, but is there any way I can scan the letters and email them myself? I know for a fact that the physician letter writers never included my AACOMAS ID in the letter itself, so I'm assuming that maybe these wouldn't count? I'd be a bit uncomfortable asking the physicians to resubmit these letters as I haven't seen either of them in a few months.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!
As far as you physician letters are concerned, I don't believe they would accept them from you or your email. You need your aacomas ID on them! I know you dont feel comfortable but I believe the best bet would be to contact them and ask them to upload their letter to inter folio where you can automically add your aacomas letter ID number to them.I have a committee letter/packet from my school that comprises all of my letters of recommendation from professors, physicians, volunteering managers, etc. Will this count as one letter out of the two letters required or will MSU-COM count it as 7-8 different letters and use only the first two that they pull out? Hey guys,
I was wondering how long it typically takes to receive a secondary application from MSU COM? My primary application was received on August 1st and I still haven't received a secondary app yet, while all the other schools I applied to sent me one within the first few days... I'm wondering if maybe they're just backed up with loads of apps? Anyone else in the same boat?
Can we submit the secondary before the letters of recommendation have arrived? I sent mine from interfolio but apparently it takes a few weeks.
or, do the LoRs need to show as received before I can submit and pay?
Thanks!
Thanks!! Can I ask how you know? On the submit page it looks like all the sections need to be green before the submit button is enabled? You can definitely submit before letters are received.
I don't remember exactly where the submit button is, but I think it's under the "Secondary App" tab, right? You can fill out the "Recommendations" page before they have actually gotten those letters. Thus, you should be able to submit the secondary before the app is complete. I actually shouldn't speak with such authority because my letters were in when I submitted my secondary, but I'm pretty sure others were in the same boat as you and got it done.
I earned a 29 on the MCAT and finished with a 3.79 GPA so i'm ok on stats, but its bothersome to me why I haven't received a secondary yet! MSU COM is my 1st choice school and it's the only school I have yet to hear back from.On AACOMAS website it says that they released my primary on 8/1, but my email timestamp says that I got the secondary invite on 7/31, so it seems like there was barely any delay on the secondary invite. What are your stats? I'm guessing you would get past the screen given that you got secondaries from all other schools, but from what I've gathered on SDN, proper etiquette is to not call or email about a secondary invite. Sit tight I guess
Edit: Just remembered that MSUCOM isn't screening this year, so nothing to worry about
Thanks! I'm just kind of afraid that they'll see my app without the secondaries arriving and think "well, this kid didn't follow directions." lol
Is there a way to tell when the letters have arrived?

Do you know how long yours took to show up? I've heard anywhere from 2 days to 2-3 weeks 🙁The status tab will show you whether letters have been received.
