Michigan State University (MSUCOM) Discussion Thread 2015 - 2016

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Any ideas where to stay for during the interview? Preferably somewhere close campus and relatively cheap.

Did anyone with a 9/11 interview get a confirmation email? Or instructions for interview day (where to meet, schedule, etc.)?

My AACOMAS letters were not populating, so I sent them an email this morning. They manually downloaded them from AACOMAS and my application was complete this afternoon. 👍 Very efficient

Has anyone found a good way to prepare for MMI interviews? I'm so nervous and feel unprepared!

EDIT: Also- any idea if there will be some sort of visible timer to help us with timing our answers? It seems inappropriate to be looking at a wristwatch, so do we just have to get a feel for how long 6 minutes is?

I haven't either. I feel the same way! I'm going to look a few things over tomorrow and just have confidence in myself that I'll figure it out on Friday.

There is no great way to prepare -- which is kind of the point. 🙂 Be confident that your education and experiences have led you to a point where you're a well-rounded individual.

Congrats to everyone with II and good luck!

I'm in the same boat as others on the thread with letters of recommendation. I submitted my letters through AACOMAS 3 weeks ago, and then again through Interfolio 4 days ago when my secondary LOR status still read incomplete. Since then, only 2/6 letters have been received on the MSUCOM portal, although their status on Interfolio says delivered for all. I contacted admissions and was told to just wait out... Is it worth sending the other 4 letters as separate deliveries through Interfolio again? Would really appreciate some advice!

Just to give my story, I was also having problems with LORs through AACOMAS, but as soon as I sent them through Interfolio they were all marked as received within a couple of days.

Thank you NovMSScr; I just sent the remaining letters through Interfolio again.. Hoping for the best!

Anyone know how long after interview applicants are notified about status of whether accepted, rejected, or wait listed?

Super excited/nervous for the interview tomorrow! Can't wait to meet some of you sdn buddies-even if we'll probably talk to each other, but not really know each other's sdn identities 😛

Have you figured out how to prepare for the MMI? Are you feeling confident?

Nope and nope haha I've been reading around and have seen that it's almost better not to try to prepare, relax, and be yourself. One particular poster in an old thread said that he/she did better when they tackled their MMIs cold with no prep. Hoping it's a low stress day!

That's kind of what I am feeling too haha. I'm pretty relaxed tonight considering the unknowns but I'm excited! It seems like there will be a lot of SDN people there too which is cool.

omg omg omg... my interview's not today but I am still excited!!! hahah... best of luck to all of you interviewing today 🙂

DO-PhD Interview scheduled😏

^+1

Also, not sure if this goes in the asking-for-too-much-info category but how many stations were there?

Hey yall, just curious. I submitted my secondary today but I am having trouble with one of my evaluations being uploaded. Will MSUCOM review my profile for a possible interview or will they wait until that evaluation is complete and received? Thanks!

I apologize if this question has already been asked.

I believe they will wait. You should get an interfolio account and send them through there.

To those that interviewed, how was it?? Tell me alllllllll about it (within the limit that you're allowed to, of course).

Is there a set time period or an average wait time to hear back from when you submit your secondary?

where did you see this! I'm anxious to hear back even though it's only been like 11 days haha
Oh, sorry, I thought you were asking about acceptance after interview. I am not sure how often they release ii after secondary. Maybe after they review the files from recent interviewees.

Do you mind sharing how long it took for you to receive an II after submitting your secondary? I'm assuming it's different depending on the applicant and time of the cycle, but just looking for a rough time period.

They will email you ii

It's different for everyone....know some people it took a month and others that it took less than two days.

I've been complete for exactly a month and haven't heard back, just for reference

Do you guys think there is a big advantage between interviewing on sept 11 vs. sept 30th? Do you think it would be harder/more competitive for individuals interviewing on the 30th to secure a spot? Just trying to determine if a lot of spots are filled up then they might hold applicant interviewing at a later date to higher standards?
