Midwestern University Arizona (AZCOM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think you can't log in to your account anymore, but that wouldn't make sense if you are still alive for Chicago. So I'm actually not sure.
To quote Ollivander when Harry was trying out the first few wands: "No! No! Definitely not!" You should still have portal access for quite some time/indefinitely. A rejection can be discovered by A) calling Admissions and being told so B) Snail mail later in the cycle

When I try to log in to the MWU site all I see is the word "Success." I believe this means Waitlisted?

Non-trad, 3.2c, 3.7g, 29, Interviewed 9/17.

WL is the same as above.

Congrats to all of you with acceptances! For those of you who have already interviewed and haven't heard anything back good or bad, refer to my first post on page 1.

looks like i was accepted! 😀
I see a accepted student checklist

cGPA: 3.3, MCAT 32

edit:
looks like I will be taking additional courses to fulfill some requirements :S

Interviewed on 9/16. 3.7 sGPA, 3.8 cGPA, 29 MCAT. non-URM.

Accepted. Someone actually trusts me to become a doctor.

Congrats everyone! My accepted student checklist just popped up! When I click on the matriculation agreement, nothing shows up. Anybody else have this problem?

Same. I'm not looking at it right now, but I think it says to wait until tomorrow?

ACCEPTED!!!!!!! Also, it won't let me fill out my matriculation agreement either so I think they are still working on it. ALSO, it says I am missing part of the English requirement and I have not successfully completed my bachelor's degree, which is somewhat awkward and wrong haha so maybe they are still working out some kinks. Anyone else have the prereq problem?

I think bachelors degree is marked complete once you send in your official transcripts, although I could be wrong.

But am i in?

The matriculation agreement was like that for me last night, this morning it popped up though so just give it a day.

Refer to my first post, page 1.

Rechecked mine. Accepted as well. Congrats class of 2018!

No it means you need to reload the page, lol.

Accepted ~10 am PST today. This was my first choice.

Thanks Elevencents and Random for the input last night. Helped keep my head in the game. Good luck to everyone still waiting on a decision.

Accepted!

It says that the deposit is due in December, does that mean that the matriculation agreement has to be signed by then or is there an earlier due date for that?

Looking forward to interviewing here October 21st! 3.79 gpa, 32 mcat, OOS. I was complete 9/25 and got my II 9/26, hopefully the turnaround time is as quick post-interview too hahah desperate to finally get accepted somewhere

Is AZCOM friendly towards phone calls? ie: whether they send out ii's in batches or as files are reviewed, where a file (my file!) is in the system, etc? I am just somewhat impatient, will be out of the country for a good chunk of November, and want to be able to maybe plan ahead a little bit. Thanks!

So long as you're polite and don't do it all the time, I've never heard of AZCOM not being receptive to a phone call here and there.

Got my acceptance 9/26, just hardly come on here- thought it might be helpful to find others who either interviewed the same day (9/20) who got accepted. 3.3c 3.2s 32N OOS. Lots of extra-curriculars and just very excited to be accepted to AZCOM.

I know it might be a bit early, but I was wondering if Azcom sends over a package for these accepted? Wondering as I want to start on my application for the visa.

They should send out an acceptance letter some time soonish (I think it's typically about a month after acceptance but could be mistaken) but the "acceptance packet" doesn't go out until summer. You may want to call the school since your paperwork will be a bit more involved than typical.

Admissions called me yesterday and left a voice mail congratulating me on the acceptance and she also mentioned that I should receive an official letter in the mail "around the first part of next week."

The way I understand it, is that the form for ranking your rotation choice is sent along with the official letter as well. Is that correct?

Ah. Ok. Will do.
Thanks again for all the help!

Hi yall. I want to thank all of you for contributing to this website. Ive just started using it recently. Your contributions are very helpful!

So, I interviewed 9/16 and I got my acceptance 9/26.

I was really impressed with the open door policy that the school emphasized, the campus layout and the way exams are weekly instead of blocked.

So my first question in considering AZCOM and if its right for me...

How do 3rd year rotations work? Are there enough available rotations around Arizona or is moving necessary? Is there help for scheduling the rotations?

Thanks all!

See my first post on page 1. Also, you'll have a clinical coordinator who will ultimately assign you your individual rotations.

Paid my deposit!
Congrats to those who have been accepted and good luck to those still in the running.

Pre-interview waitlist as well.

3.5c 3.1s 26

I want to say I saw a poll on here (by dr shark?) that asked which schools people withdrew from. AZCOM and Nova were high on the list if I remember right

When were you complete if you don't mind me asking?

Waitlisted a month ago. Got an e-mail reminder today that I was in fact, still waitlisted 🙄

Thanks! Also what is your opinion on the way testing is scheduled weekly? It sounds like a great idea to me, but are you glad that you did it that way or would you have rather had midterms every 4-5 weeks or so?

Either system sucks. Sanity-wise, every few weeks would be better, but weekly makes everything more manageable and ensures you stay on top of the material.

The weekly test format is one of things that interests me about AZCOM. I asked a couple of the MS2s on the interview day about it and they said more or less the same thing as randomusername. They said that it's difficult and "relentless," but that it is very effective and you get used to it. I figure since AZCOM has a proven track record of high averages on step 1, it must work pretty well.

In my undergrad (I know, it's no comparison), I always learn a LOT better when I have multiple exams as opposed to one or two. With the latter style I always fall into the mentality of, "oh that's 4 weeks away, pfftt I don't need to study yet."
